Support and Prayer for Israel

Declare Israel’s identity:

“For the sake of His great name the LORD will not reject His people, because the LORD was pleased to make you His own” (1 Samuel 12:22).

For this is what the LORD Almighty says: “After He has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye” (Zechariah 2:8).

For the LORD’s portion is His people, Jacob his allotted inheritance (Deuteronomy 32:9).

You shall also be a crown of splendor in the LORD’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God (Isaiah 62:3).

You shall be called Hephzibah , and your land Beulah ; for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be married (Isaiah 62:4).

They shall call them the Holy People, the Redeemed of the LORD; and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted (Isaiah 62:12).

Intercede for Salvation for Israel and Jewish People Everywhere:

  • For Israel to turn to the Lord so the veil may be taken away (2 Corinthians 3:11-16), and for their spiritual blindness to be removed.
  • Pray based on the Lord’s promise that all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; for this My covenant with them, when I take away their sins” (Romans 11:25-27).
  • Proclaim also God’s promise that “He will cleanse them and give them a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36).

Pray for Israel and Her People by Calling on the Lord Regarding:

  • Her leaders
  • Those who protect her
  • Her allies—may the United States be one!
  • Her challenges
    • protection from the ongoing threat of war and terrorism from her enemies
    • pray for God to deal swiftly and justly with those who hate Israel and the Jewish People, and who seek to destroy them
    • pray for God’s solutions and provision for border disputes, housing and water shortages, incoming refugees, and other troubling internal issues
    • Her resources
    • pray for the boldness of Christian and Messianic Believers around the world through their advocacy and prayers for Israel
    • pray for a deep unity in the Spirit among all Believers in Israel that allows for an effective working together regardless of political ideologies
    • pray for the protection and effectiveness of ministries within and outside Israel such as Jewish Voice who are reaching out to Jewish People with the Good News of Yeshua, discipling new Believers, and establishing congregations
    • pray for and praise God for His faithfulness to her, and for His ongoing commitment to His many promises on her behalf

Last but not least, pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all Israel—a cry that will find its ultimate fulfillment in the Sar Shalom—The Prince of Peace, Yeshua Himself.  — Psalm 122:6

Praying for Jewish Voice Ministries

Proclaim the Lord’s Blessing and Fulfillment of Our Vision:

Jewish Voice Ministries is dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel of Yeshua (Jesus) to the Jew first and also to the Nations throughout the world, according to Romans 1:16.

We are also dedicated to equipping the Church by providing education about the Hebraic roots of Christianity, the Church’s responsibility to Israel and the Jewish People, and how to share Yeshua with the Jewish People.

In addition, JVM partners with several other Messianic ministries to establish and operate Messianic Jewish Bible Institutes around the world to train leaders for Jewish ministry, as well as the establishment of the Messianic Career Institute.  — Ephesians 4:12

Key Verses to Pray:

“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it” (Habakkuk 2:2).

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands” (Psalm 90:17).

Pray through and declare all of Psalm 91, which is a conditional covenant between God and His people.  Pray that we as a ministry would consistently and consciously dwell in the Presence and provision of the Lord, and that as we abide in Him and declare Him boldly as our God in whom we trust (vs. 1-2), we would continually be blessed by the protection the Lord promises for us in the rest of the Psalm – protection from the enemy’s schemes, from illness, terror, and harm; not only for us but for all that pertains to us and our ministry, including our partners and prayer partners!

Israel is need of prayer friends like no other time in modern history, She has been forsaken by the world, and is in desperate need of the Messiah to come and redeem Her from Her sins and Her enemies that are poised to destroy Her on every side. We know as believers in Yeshua, (Jesus) that The God of Israel has promised to send Israel Moses and Elijah, the Two Witnesses, that will guide her back to His Word in its purest form. These Two Witnesses spoken of by the Prophet John in Revelation 11 and the Prophet Zechariah as the Two Olive Branches will soon come to restore the Word of God as Promised by Yeshua when asked by His Apostles ” why say the scribes that Elias must first come?” and Yeshua answered that “Elias/Elijah shall come and restore all things” stated in future tense when yet John was already dead also a fore runner of Messiah. No doubt not only our Jewish Brothers and Sisters are in need of this restoration but we as Christians with 1,000’s of different views on the same Bible need desperately a restoration of God’s Holy Word.

In light of the fact that Israel is facing the hardest time in Her modern history we are asking believers to join us this coming Friday November 20,2015 starting at 6PM Israeli time through Monday 6PM Israeli time in a Three day prayer and fasting for Israel,  the coming of Her Messiah, for Her deliverance from her enemies and the opening of Her eyes. That The God of Israel will send His Two Witnesses speedily in the redemption of His people.

We will pray and fast similarly as Esther did in the Time of Israel’s near destruction at the wicked hand of Haman, and now a modern day Haman from Rome with his Roman soldiers are ready to destroy God’s Chosen, not only Israel but her Brothers and Sisters that stand with Her. So may we be reminded by the Words of Mordechai and the Words of Esther:

Est 4:13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.

Est 4:14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Est 4:15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

Est 4:16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Est 4:17 So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

Those of you who wish to participate can do so by posting a note on this article when you can pray the hour of day the time zone and how long you can pray. If you also wish choose to fast at any given length of time let us know this as well. During your time of prayer post you heart felt message to God and for the sake of Israel here that they may know that people love them and are praying for them. We are hoping to have people praying in a nonstop prayer chain around the world and fasting for the deliverance of Israel!

Why should we pray for Israel?  Does the Bible instruct us to?  Should we also be praying for the peace of Jerusalem like the Old Testament prophets sometimes did?  Should a Christian be obligated to pray for Israel?

In Psalm 122:6 it says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.”

God’s Chosen People?

God calls Israel the “apple of His eye” which is a term of endearment (Duet. 32:10, Zech. 2:8).  God adds a blessing to those nations and people who bless Israel and a curse on those who curse Israel (Gen. 12:2-3).  Do these blessings and cursings still apply?  I do not see why they don’t since God changes not (Malachi 3:6).  God was seen as the husband of Israel (Jer. 3:14).  God is evidently still concerned over Israel, saying in 2 Chronicles 6:6, “Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.”  Wherever God places His name is where He still places His love.  Jesus wept over Jerusalem, knowing what their fate held, “As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it” (Luke 19:41).

This may be the very reason that God has prospered the United States.  America is one of the few nations that have chosen to be her ally but that seems to have recently began to change.  When America withdraws her support and defense of Israel, God could take His hand of blessing off of the U.S.  Perhaps He has already begun to do so since relations with Israel have cooled off lately.

Israel is surrounded by hostile nations and a religion (Islam) that seeks her destruction.  A blessing is pronounced over those who will pray for and bless Israel (Numb. 24:9).  God will never abandon Israel and in the end, Israel will be saved by God Almighty (Malachi 3:6, Romans 11:1).  Since Paul commands Christians to pray for governmental authorities and leaders, (Rom 13:1-7) why should we not also be praying for peace in the Middle East and in particular, for Israel?  No, Israel is not perfect and she has made many mistakes, but they are God’s chosen people (Duet. 6:3-4).

Listen to what the prophet’s and Old Testament writers say about Israel:

Isaiah 48:12 “Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last.”

Psalm 105:43 “He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.”

Isaiah 41:8-9 “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.”

Deuteronomy 7:8-9 “But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”

Deuteronomy 14:2 “For you are an holy people unto the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.”

Why We Should Pray for Israel

There are dozens of Scriptures where God says that we should pray for the peace of Israel.  In Psalm 122:6 it says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.”  Not only does this say that we should pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and by extension, Israel, we read that “those who love you be secure.”  This is a clear signal that God would be pleased that we pray for Israel’s peace and safety because God is not giving up on Israel (Rom 10:1).

In the New Testament, Paul prayed for Israel’s salvation, saying, “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved” (Rom 10:1).  If Paul is telling the church that his heart’s desire is to pray for Israel and that “they may be saved” that should clearly be our prayer for them also.  Believers today are grafted into the natural olive tree – described as ethnic Israel – for we are “fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household” (Eph. 2:19).  Romans 11:24 is clear about this: “After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!”

What about the Lost 10 Tribes of Israel?

Perhaps you have heard about the lost 10 tribes of Israel which were separated from Judah when the Northern Kingdom was taken into captivity by the Assyrians (2 Kings 17).  The fact is that nothing is lost to God.  They are lost to history perhaps, but to God, never!  Revelation 7:4-8 says that these tribes are not lost if God knows where they are:

“Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel. From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben 12,000, from the tribe of Gad 12,000, from the tribe of Asher 12,000, from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000, from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000, from the tribe of Simeon 12,000, from the tribe of Levi 12,000, from the tribe of Issachar 12,000, from the tribe of Zebulon 12,000, from the tribe of Joseph 12,000, from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.”

The Remnant of Israel

God has not rejected His people Israel and today we are Jews who are ones inwardly as Paul writes in Romans 2:29 “but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.”  Neither has God rejected His chosen people.  Paul testifies to this fact in Romans 11:1-2 “Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel.”

Further, Paul says that “If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid” (Rom 11:17-20).

“I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in . And so all Israel will be saved , as it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob . And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins” (Rom 11:25-27).  This does not mean that all of Israel will be saved…the entire nation and all Israelites of all time, but those who come to believe in Jesus Christ. This will happen someday when Israel finally recognizes Jesus Christ as the Messiah.  The nation will finally accept Him as the Prophesied One.

Today there are Messianic Jews who already believe that Jesus is the Messiah.  The national stock of Israel will join these Messianic Jews, but not until the “fullness of times” or when the last person is saved prior to Christ’s return as King of kings and Lord of lords. That time appears to be fast approaching.  Jerusalem means “king of” (Jeru) “peace” (Salem).   Jerusalem is anything but peaceful right now but the King of Peace is coming.  Until then, believers ought to be praying for the peace of Israel and for the King of Peace to come soon.  Even so Lord, come quickly. That is my prayer and I hope you will join me in praying for His Kingdom to come and for the peace of Jerusalem and for Israel.
