Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves to be wise and clever, and for revealing them to those who become as children.”(Matthew 11:25) Have you thought about thanking the one who gives you “all things” could bring you more blessings, than complaining about less desirable events? How may you believe and (increase faith) to be positioned to receive these greater blessings.

QUESTION: Is it ok to ask for God’s blessings?

ANSWER:

“To bless in the biblical sense means to ask for or to impart supernatural favor,” says Bruce Wilkinson, author of The Prayer of Jabez. “When we ask for God’s blessing, we’re not asking for more of what we could get for ourselves. We’re crying out for the wonderful, unlimited goodness that only God has the power to know about or give us.”

Blessing was common in Bible days. People were often blessed by leaders before they departed. For example, Jesus blessed the people in Luke 24:50: “When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them.”

People can give blessing to God in songs of praise. Psalm 103:1-2 says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

God also blesses people by giving riches and meeting their needs. His greatest blessing is the forgiveness of sins! Romans 4:7-8 says, “Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.”

God has all blessing and goodness. He desires to bless you, so when you ask for God’s blessing, you are asking for exactly what He desires to give you! Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Can God bless us if we don’t ask for it? Yes, God has the ability to bless anyone He chooses, whether that individual asks for it or not. However, God desires that we ask. As you read in Matthew 7:7-8, it says to ask, seek, and knock. Then it will be given to you!

Will you ask for God’s blessings today?

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

– We have all

sinned

and deserve God’s judgment.

God

, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him.

Jesus

, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He

died

for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was

buried

, and

rose from the dead

according to the

Bible

. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your

Savior

, declaring, “

Jesus is Lord

,” you will be saved from

judgment

and spend eternity with God in heaven.
