At such times as these, there arises need for prayer of encouragement and strength for a friend or ourselves.
Let’s pray this prayer, particularly if you are presently going through any difficult time or perhaps your friend or loved one is.

Prayer of encouragement
God, so often in different situations I stand and can’t make first steps and decisions I should make. I stuck in such circumstances for a long time, so I ask your encouragement and help. Lord, please encourage me through all my life journey. Please make that I never felt fear or uncertainty. Let all my decisions will be according to your will. Don’t let me give up in any situation I face, but teach me to find the right way and right decision. Let I always feel your love and grace, your caring hand and encouraging support. Lord, encourage and guide me in all actions I take in my life. I pray you in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer of encouragement and strength for myself
Father of all comfort and grace, you are the divine source of encouragement and fortitude, I come to you today in absolute confidence and trust in your word, I ask for strength and courage to stand in this trying time and to come out victorious.
I draw strength and comfort in my inner man by your Holy Spirit. I decree and declare that I am strengthened spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. My faith shall not grow cold, I shall finish strong and I am more than conqueror through Christ Jesus. I am not of them that quit and lose out, I will trust in you all, for I know that my victory is assured in Christ. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer of encouragement and strength for a friend
Father, I pray for a friend going through trying times. Lord, please strengthen and encourage his/her heart. God, show him/her that are always near and caring about him/her, not allowing to stay alone in difficult situation. Let’s his/her faith in Christ don’t shake, show him/her that these trials are for a good purpose and one day he/she come out of difficult situation giving you all the glory and praise. I pray through Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
Why we need prayer of encouragement?
To encourage is to draw strength during crises. A prayer of encouragement is simply to pray for strength during crises.
Sometimes one prays these prayers not only for oneself but also for other friends and loved ones who find themselves in crisis.
John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulations; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”
Peace does not suggest absence of war or crisis, it means finding strength and stability in the midst of them.
Psalm 61:1-2 “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I”
Beloved, the Bible categorically made it clear that we won’t go through life without challenges as believers, however, at such times, when we pray prayers of encouragement and strength; we birth strength in our hearts to hold on till victory will come.
When you go through times that appears as if the integrity of God’s word challenged, times when loved ones depart to glory, or times when businesses and careers fails, times when relationships threatens to breakdown, at such times, the savior is just a prayer away. When we pray prayer of encouragement and strength, He does not come with explanations; He comes with His very presence, releasing peace into your heart. James 5:13 “is any afflicted among you, let him pray”
Remember that hymn? “What a friend we have in Jesus”. He is a friend both in the good times and seemingly bad times. Don’t forfeit your peace, refuse to bear needless pains, just call on Him in prayers, and He will encourage and strengthen your and your friend’s heart. Peace will come.

The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. – Proverbs 18:10
David and his men arrived home to discover the army of Amalek had burned the city and had taken their wives and children captive. They wept until they could weep no more. The loss was overwhelming.
In their grief and frustration the men blamed David and spoke of stoning him… but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. Under God’s direction, David then led a victorious march against the Amalekites and recovered their wives and children without a single loss; but we want to give attention to David’s method of encouragement.
You may have waited for someone to come and encourage you in your night of trouble, but no one has come. So you may ask, “How can I encourage myself?” First, consider that God is still on the throne and He is your God.
There was no friend at hand to encourage David; his own men had turned against him. But when it appeared everything was lost, he turned to God for his help. He saw God as his God. He did not consider God to be at such a distance that He would not come to his rescue.
Second, remember that daybreak may be just ahead. David and his men experienced the anguish of believing their families probably had been killed, but they were all recovered safely. The old adage goes, “The darkest time of the night is just before dawn,” and dawn may soon be breaking for you.
Further, you can encourage yourself by remembering that our trials are for a good purpose. The trials themselves are burdensome and distasteful but the end is good as God teaches you more of your weakness and more of His strength.
If you find yourself in need of strength and encouragement, here is a prayer you can pray:
Lord, like David, I need your encouragement in a time of trial and anguish. Thank you that you are always on the throne, always my God, ready to save. Thank you for being the same God to me that you were to David. Thank you for always being near and always rescuing me from my fears and hurts. Lord, help me remember that daybreak might be just ahead, that this trial will not last forever. Fill me with hope that daybreak is coming and that your love will always prevail!
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Saint Jude, I do believe in faith and have the tenacity to continue to pursue my goal(s) of becoming a dentist. I’m working and I do have responsibilities–to include attending school on a part-time basis to complete my requirements for graduate school.
Saint Jude, I feel all alone. I do not get any encouragement from my family, but only from a few friends. I sometimes feel discouraged and no longer want to continue. To me, perseverance is the key. But it would be a great feeling of having my family give me support and that “extra” push that I so desperately need.
