Strength through prayer

“I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5 (NIV)

How many times have you attempted to do something, alone, and failed?  Have you ever given thought to what you could have done differently in order to be successful?  Was there something that you might have missed?

Jesus made it clear that through Him, you can achieve goals – if you put your faith in Him.  Talk to Him and learn from Him.  You might say “well, that’s just not possible”.  But all things are possible through Christ.  In these contemporary times, Christians face ridicule now, just as they did in the days after Christ died and was resurrected.  Fortunately, Christians are not fed to lions in our football stadiums for entertainment.  Still, somedays it can be difficult to be a Christian in the secular world.

So how can we overcome these moments, when people question your faith?

Pray.

God gave us the ultimate method of communication to contact Him.  Through prayer, we can not only tell Him of our concerns and problems, but we can also pray for others.  Communicating with God is simple.  We can gain strength through prayer.  Don’t be afraid to present your worries to God.  He is all powerful and glorious.  He is merciful and forgiving.  And that is something we must not lose sight of.

The Bible tells us “Pray continually.” – 1 Thessalonians, 5:17 (NIV)

Witnessing to others isn’t always easy.  Most people don’t want to hear it, but if you open yourself up and let the Lord guide you through each day, people will begin to notice the difference in you.  By living each day for the Lord, you will suddenly be filled with the Holy Spirit and this does shine on the outside, as well as making you feel good on the inside.

By praying daily, using that time to converse with God, you’re building a solid foundation for yourself.  Even on days when you’re troubled, prayer can be the answer.  Also, read your Bible.  You will be surprised how much the Lord speaks to you through His Word.

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.  May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. – 1 Thessalonians, 5:23 (NIV)

Remember, your prayers will be heard.  Jesus said: “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” – Mark 11:24-25 (NIV)

May God bless you and bring you peace, love, hope and joy.
