Prayers of hope and healing cancer

You may be faced with a strange and destructive illness like cancer. Read on to be guided on how to pray healing for cancer.

Millions of people all over the world are faced with incurable and chronic illnesses. No matter how sophisticated or advance science and the medical profession are, how replete the resources, and how determined people battle sicknesses, still there are many unable to find cure or resolve.

One of the most devastating and threatening diseases is cancer. You may know of any family member, relative or friend suffering from this. Cancer is “known medically as a malignant neoplasm, is a broad group of various diseases, all involving unregulated cell growth. In cancer, cells divide and grow uncontrollably, forming malignant tumors, and invade nearby parts of the body.” (Wikipedia)

Majority of cancer victims die of this debilitating disease while a small number succeed in fighting this problem. How do you pray to heal cancer?

The curses and sicknesses from the generational family lines are at times the cause of illnesses. Our forefathers or ancestors may have sinned against God and men thereby defiling the bloodline of the succeeding generations. You may ask your pastor or anyone from your church to pray this through.

If this has been dealt with, you may begin searching or examining your heart for any un-confessed sins which will become the entry point of the enemy to your life. You my pray something along this line, “Lord, here are all my sins: _____. If there are any more sins, by faith I am forgiven completely and unconditionally. Wash me with your blood and forgive my sins. Cleanse me through and through. Amen.” Also, see this Prayer for Release From the Past

Next you should do a spiritual housecleaning in your own life and your household and your home. You may examine whether in your mind, heart, will, emotions, soul, spirit, and body you have ungodly beliefs and practices. You may be overcome with fear, doubts, and anxiety. Or you may be exposing yourself to ungodly sounds, images or habits. Or you may still be in bondage with addictions, strongholds, and mental structures that have to be broken.

Take a look at your own family. Pray through for areas where each member is sinning or struggling. Remove anything in your house that glorifies the occult, cults, violence, sexual sins, or any object that are an abomination in God’s sight.

When you have cleansed yourself, family, home, and your generational lines, you may begin uttering Healing Prayers. The Scriptures is filled with verses on healing, passages of miraculous intervention, and Bible characters who received their healing.

You may declare and believe these Healing Scriptures For Cancer—

Exodus 23:25
25 “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

Exodus 15:26
26 and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”

Proverbs 4:20-22

 20 My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.

Psalm 107:19-21
19 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.
20 He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
21 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Psalm 30:2
2 O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me.

Isaiah 53:4-5

4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

Psalm 91:3-4

3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Proverbs 17:22
22 A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones.

Psalm 103:2-5
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

For the practical side of it, consult any medical practitioner so that you may know how to strategically care for this sickness. Take care of your health. Eat the right diet. Rest and exercise and sleep on time. You may opt to choose an organic lifestyle.

It is God’s perfect will to heal. He can heal any form of illness. Take God at His Word and believe that your healing is now taking place as you use God’s word to manifest healing in your life and body.

It is encouraged to tame your tongue and only speak positive and life-giving words. Do not declare sickness, death, and fear but only use words that align with the Scriptures.

Bless your body and command healing over it. Take authority over this sickness.

You may pray this prayer for healing cancer now –

“Abba Father, I almost reached the end of the rope. Forgive me, my family, and our forefathers for transgressing you. Cancel now and reverse all the curses against my family lines with the blood of Jesus Christ. Forgive me for my personal sins and close the legal access of the enemy upon my life.

Cleanse our body, soul, and spirit with the blood of Jesus also. I speak life to my body. By the authority given to me by God, I cancel the attempt of the enemy to kill, steal, and destroy. I speak healing upon my body for by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed and made whole.

I declare blessing upon my body to function to the way God originally intended for it to function. I speak life to my immune system and for all the healthy cells to digest all the bad and sickly cells.

Thank You, Lord for healing me now. I appropriate the word of God, blood of Jesus, power of the Holy Spirit to heal me completely.

I speak shalom, rest and fullest recovery for my body. I cancel the diagnosis of the doctors and believe God’s word instead. This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

If you have prayed this prayer for healing cancer, be assured that your healing begins. Do not lose hope. God is still the God of miracles. Just believe in Him and take heart. When fears, doubts, and apprehensions begin setting in, go back to this prayer for healing cancer.

If you do not have cancer and know of anyone suffering from it, pray for him/her, anoint her with oil and lay hands on her. If she is not strong enough to pray for herself, do pray for her.

Remember if the Lord has healed you, then you are healed; therefore, there is no fear for cancer in remission. Don’t speak this over yourself or anyone else.  You are healed and that’s that.

While we don’t believe in praying to the saints, we would like to share the story of St. Peregrine who is considered the patron saint for sickness

St. Peregrine

and cancer.  Among the special penances of St. Peregrine was his decision to stand at all times with only a few occasions where he would sit. It is known that he didn’t sit for 30 years and subsequently he developed varicose veins which then led to cancer of the leg & foot. The lesions were so bad that the surgeon had made preparations to do an amputation.  Nevertheless, the night before the surgery, St. Peregrine began to drag himself to the foot of the cross in his church and stayed there praying for numerous hours. As he nodded off to sleep he was given a vision of Jesus touching his foot.  The next day the everyone saw that he was totally healed.

If God can do it for St. Peregrine, He can do it for you.  Just pray and believe in His power.

Cancer happens always unexpectedly. This diagnosis is always shocking. It’s shocking not only to those who are diagnosed, but also affects all other family members as well. First reaction usually is anger, frustration and fear.  We are afraid of the pain of treatment, the uncertainty in cancer progress and our future. Death and sickness for some people are challenges that threaten their faith. It becomes difficult for our faith to be nourished and strengthened in the love of God when we are faced with this difficult disease. In such situation can help prayer for healing and strength, prayer for healing cancer, health and comfort.

Really the only way to stay strong in such situations is to address God with our prayers. Even those people who feel far away from God, try to find some hope and encouragement in His words and say prayer for healing.  God always gives us a hope, He is always with us as Isaiah 43:2 says: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you”. So you need to be: “strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Keep hope alive

In cancer situation we need to stay strong and keep hope. The Word of God is the most powerful weapon we have as His children to ward off threats to our faith. We should know that although the sickness might be exhausting, we need to rely on God’s will and mercy.

prayers of hope and healing cancer

God is with you every time of the day and even in this trial time, He knows you inside and out and knows the pains you are experiencing right now. He alone has the power to help you in such situation. The Word of God in Matthew 11: 28 says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” This is only one of many promises of God for you in His word. The study of the God’s word help you to discover many truths in the Bible pertaining to you.

God is aware of what you are going through.  He only wants you to talk to Him and trust Him. God will give you hope and confidence in the healing, health and strength in your situation. What you need to do is as 1 Thessalonians 5:17 say: “pray without ceasing”. In this article, we will list some powerful prayer points for the healing of cancer and giving strength in disease situation. Don’t lose faith and God will touch you at the very point where you need Him.

Your faith is needed in prayer for strength and healing

I know how your hope may have got dashed when you got the report from your doctor concerning this disease. Gоd’ѕ Wоrd says the рrауеr оf faith ѕhаll heal the sick. Go tо God today іn fаіth аnd аѕk that Hе heals уоu frоm ѕісknеѕѕ. We rесеіvе hеаlіng by faith. Oреn yourself uр tоdау to God’s blessings, hеаlіng аnd mіrасlеѕ. Let аll worries lеаvе уоur heart. Dоn’t fоrgеt and believe that уоu hаvе the Gоd who саrеѕ, who lоvеѕ уоu ѕо dеерlу аnd wіll nеvеr lеt уоu go.

Prayer for healing

Your level of faith is proportional to the healing you get. You may never understand why God allowed this to happen to you but you should trust His word in Jeremiah 29:11. His plan for you is to prosper, give you good health and a future. See your future from today; refuse to believe that this disease would terminate your plans.

Your level of faith is proportional to the healing you get

Although the questions “Why me? Why should this happen to me?” may be on your lips, we should understand that God allows some things to happen on purpose. This doesn’t mean He loves you less or  that it is  punishment for your sins. Do not underestimate His love for you. Accept this situation as part of your life and keep the hope in your heart, that even if God have other plan for you here on earth, you will reign with Him eternally.

Christian prayer for strength and healing cancer

God, I know the burden of my healing is upon your shoulders, therefore I place this burden of cancer into your hands and I ask that you lift me up in body, soul and spirit even when my faith is shaken and hope is declining.  I pray for hope, strength and encouragement. Please work in my heart, please take away all my fears. I pray for consolation and reconciliation.

And I thank you for your love you give to me. I know that you are aware of what this illness is causing to my body right now, I ask you God, be merciful for me. Your word in Psalm 107:19-20 says that when I call out to you, you will give the command, heal and rescue me from death and diseases, I have read of your wondrous healing in the Bible and I believe that in the same way  you will heal cancer in my body.

I know that there is nothing impossible for you, so I ask  you for healing in this situation of my life too. Please let me know and understand your plans for me and help me to feel your presence like never before.

My experience in life has taught me that it is not everyone who falls sick gets healed. If that happen to be me in this situation, help me to know and understand your plans for me and let me be calm.

I thank you God for my hope of healing and health. I pray you God, that you guide the doctors in the treatment of my disease. Amen.

Hold on to your faith, the promises of God and keep the hope alive. Remember the daily prayer and enjoy the peace of God. God bless you!

“Novena To S. Peregrine”

Glorious wonder-worker, St. Peregrine, you answered the divine call with a ready spirit, and forsook all the comforts of a life of ease and all the empty honors of the world to dedicate yourself to God in the Order of His holy Mother.

You labored manfully for the salvation of souls. In union with Jesus crucified, you endured painful sufferings with such patience as to deserve to be healed miraculously of an incurable cancer in your leg by a touch of His divine hand.

Obtain for me the grace to answer every call of God and to fulfill His will in all the events of life. Enkindle in my heart a consuming zeal for the salvation of all men. Deliver me from the infirmities that afflict my body (especially…..). Obtain for me also a perfect resignation to the sufferings it may please God to send me, so that, imitating our crucified Savior and His sorrowful Mother, I may merit eternal glory in heaven.

St. Peregrine, pray for me and for all who invoke your aid.

“Prayer to St. Peregrine”

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.
Amen.

A Prayer To St. Peregrine To Heal Cancer

Dear St. Peregrine, I need your help. I feel so uncertain of my life right now. This serious illness makes me long for a sign of God’s love. Help me to imitate your enduring faith when you faced the challenge of cancer.  Allow me to trust the Lord the way you did in this moment of distress. I want to be cured, but right now I ask God for the strength to bear the cross in my life.  I seek the power to proclaim God’s presence in my life despite hardship, anguish, and fear I now experience.  O glorious St. Peregrine, be an inspiration to me and petitioner of these needed graces from our loving father. Amen.

A Prayer to St. Peregrine for Sick Relatives and Friends

St. Peregrine, as a humble Servant of Mary, you experienced human weakness and the pain and suffering of sickness. Knowing that medicine and human knowledge have limits, we pray for all those involved with the medical profession that they will be a true source of healing and comfort to all people. Like you, we also turn to God in our suffering. Just as Jesus reached out and touched you with His healing hand, we pray that the following sick person(s) will be strengthened in body and spirit and cured of his or her illness by Jesus Christ through your intercession.

(Here mention the name(s) of your sick relative or friend.)

In gratitude we pray for all people of the world that they will come to know you, St. Peregrine, and the love that God has for each of them. Amen.

“Prayer For Healing Cancer”

“In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I ask all carcinogens in (this person) be neutralized right now and escorted from her body. For any medicines given to (this person), may they have no harmful side effects but only do what the doctors benevolently intended for them to do.

I speak death to all cancerous cells in her body right now, that these would die as befits righteousness.  Heavenly Father, I ask you to flush these dead cells out of her body and heal the damage they have done.

Heavenly Father, please repair the DNA damage radiation has done to her body and cells. May (this person) grow in wisdom and love. May (this person) grow in faith and hope. May (this person) be blessed in all she undertakes.

I break any generational curses of cancer upon this family, in Jesus’ name.  I break the empowerment and assignments given any demons on (this person), their property and environments, especially idols and charms.  I command all evil influences to leave (this person) and these right now.

For anyone who would work or conspire against (this person), I bind any unclean spirits over them and their properties to silence & impotence.  I ask these people to be drawn toward salvation in all areas of their lives.

I ask this in Jesus’ holy name, Amen.”

“I had no idea when I first received a copy of Prayers for Hope and Healing how very personal this was going to be for me. But now that I find myself in a fight against Stage 4 Lymphoma, I suddenly realize what a gift Sarah Forgrave has given us all. This is a book that will help you pray in the midst of struggle and crisis when you thought there were no more prayers left. It’s practical and compassionate and will bring encouragement not only to those who are facing illness, but to those who love those who are facing illness.”

— Dave Butts, president of Harvest Prayer Ministries and former chair of America’s National Prayer Committee

“As a family physician, I have learned that true health is more than just a cured disease or medicated problem. Medical illnesses affect our relationships and challenge our faith. Pain and strife cause us to ask tough questions—the same tough questions that Sarah Forgrave addresses in this book. If we are honest with ourselves, we all have asked these questions—or will. This book is real and honest and points us to the One who has the answers and true healing. If you are going through difficult medical issues or love someone who is, I would recommend these prayers of hope.”

— Andrew M. Cougill, MD

“Prayers for Hope and Healing by Sarah Forgrave is a breath of fresh air for my weary soul. As a breast cancer survivor and pulmonary fibrosis patient I have been through my share of medical issues. Sarah meets my feelings of fear and discouragement with the empathy only someone who has walked this path could understand. At the same time, she offers hope and encouragement from God, who wants to walk this road with me.

Sarah’s kind words help me know she understands what I am going through. She helps me reach out to God when I’m weary by providing me with words to pray, and Scriptures which offer me hope no matter what. As a patient with a terminal illness, this book will be my constant companion, bringing me comfort as I walk my final path to Him.”

— Kim Fredrickson, author of Give Yourself a Break: Turning Your Inner Critic into a Compassionate Friend

“No stranger to living with chronic and serious illness, Sarah Forgrave shares from her own experience with vulnerability and empathy in Prayers for Hope and Healing. Without offering platitudes or pat answers, a message of hope in the midst of pain permeates each devotional and prayer.

The sub-titles of each devotional identify a specific topic related to living with illness. This helpful feature enables readers to return to Prayers for Hope and Healing again and again to read a devotional addressing a particular need of the moment.”

— Judy Gann, author of The God of All Comfort: Devotions of Hope for Those Who Chronically Suffer

“After forty years of making hospital visits, I will feel comfortable giving this book to others. If you’re going through hard times, it’s likely you’ve wrestled with many of the forty-four devotional themes in this book. Sarah Forgrave’s gentle manner shines in these pages, and her thoughts will touch the hurting and help them to realize they are not alone. Each guided prayer in this book is a prompt toward hope.”

— Jim Littlejohn, Pastoral Care Minister

“Author Sarah Forgrave understands the hard places of life. Her prayers give voice to our own struggles and help us connect with the One who can see us through. This is more than a book to read once and put on a shelf. For me, it will be a well-worn volume with a permanent place on my bedside table.”

— Edie Melson, author of While My Child is Away, My Prayers for When We Are Apart (Worthy Inspired)

“When my husband was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in his mid-30’s, confusion and questions about a suddenly unknown future set in. How I wish we had a prayer guide such as Sarah Forgrave’s Prayers for Hope and Healing to give us the words we lacked. The verses, thoughts, and prayers in this book are a balm for the soul. Whether you or someone you love is facing a medical crisis, this book offers truth and hope to anchor your heart and mind during these confusing times.”

— Amelia Rhodes, author of Pray A to Z: A Practical Guide to Pray for Your Community

“Sarah Forgrave’s Prayers for Hope and Healing is a beautiful and tender expression of the inexpressible–when we can’t find the words to pray because the need is so great. Birthed from her own place of pain and healing, the book Forgrave has created addresses the multiple appendages of a deep heart need with authenticity, vulnerability, and faith made stronger through adversity. Her sensitivity to include a breadth of potential concerns makes this book rise above others on the subject of prayer.”

— Cynthia Ruchti, author of 20 books, including Ragged Hope and Tattered and Mended

“As I read each of the chapters of this book, it brought to memory so many of my former hospice patients. I found myself thinking how valuable a tool this book could have been for those patients and their families. The simplicity of the devotional thoughts are strengthened by the very personal prayers. I’m praying that many will find true spiritual strength and grace in difficult times as a result of this book.”
