I have had this post on my mind for quite some time now, but just couldn’t find the words to express it. I wanted to give you x number of things to pray for our sisters in Christ – like maybe praying that our single sisters in Christ would remain pure, or maybe that our married sisters would submit to their husbands, or that all our sisters would be good stewards over their time, money, and gifts and be the light that God has called them to be.
And although all of these things are great, there is a prayer that would be much better.
It would be better to pray that our sisters in Christ (and ourselves) would sit at Jesus’ feet.
I’m reminded of Martha and Mary.
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help.”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:38-42 (NIV)
As women, we’re often more of a Martha than a Mary. Whether we’re CEOs, teachers, stay-at-home moms, entrepreneurs, or whatever else we may be – we all spend our days marking off our imaginary (sometimes written) to-do-list.
We have a million and one things to do. A million and one things that concern us. A million and one things that distract us from doing the one thing that’s really needed…
Sitting at Jesus’ feet.
And the real truth is, as much as we love our sisters, we can’t always be there for everyone of our sisters’ needs, but Jesus can.
So why not pray that our sisters in Christ (and ourselves) would do the one thing that’s really needed?
If our sister in Christ is hurting, pray that she would find healing at Jesus’ feet…
If our sister in Christ is struggling with her marriage, pray that she would first submit and kneel at Jesus’ feet…
If our single sister is struggling with purity, pray that she would find her worth and validation at Jesus’ feet…
If she needs direction, if she has questions, pray that she would find the answers at Jesus’ feet…
If she is lost and losing her faith, pray that she would find her way at Jesus’ feet…
Whatever our sisters need, pray that they would find it at Jesus’ feet.
For our sisters in Christ have many worries – a million and one things that distract them from the one things that distract them from the one thing that is really need.
So pray that they would sit at Jesus’ feet.

Greetings dear and precious sisters-in-Christ,
Hopefully those who traveled to visit family and friends for Christmas were able to arrive home safely and hopefully those who got the time off from work enjoyed themselves and were ready for another work day. Me, being retired, am able to enjoy the day after. Yes, how many days after have we all had? The day after the wedding, the day after the big celebration party, the day after the birth of a child, the day after the death of a loved one, the day after…
The story of Jesus doesn’t tell to much about the day after but it does tell us in Luke 2:15-24,
“And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was call JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
As it is written in the law of the Lord, (Every male that openth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)
And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”
So much happened the day after His Birth and may it be so for us who have received His Grace.
Yes the celebrating and the pondering continues in our hearts.
Abba Father, Praise thee and thank You for the days after. There are so many of those days as they have been made by thee and planned and purposed and filled with Your Presence and Your Peace. Lord I pray for each dear and precious sister-in-Christ that in the days after of her life that she will celebrate each day knowing that You have made it and also ponder on the things that You have filled her days after with. Lord God I ask all these things in the Precious Name of Jesus, the Name above all names, Amen.
Celebrating and Pondering,
