Heavenly Father, my heart reaches out to the single moms. Please help and guide them. Protect them from evil. Bless them with the necessary finances so they can take good care of their family.

May they be able to sustain their children’s needs with love and guidance throughout their lives. Each and every day, fill their cupboards with food and their closets with clothes. Fulfill their daily needs.

Life as a single mom can seem overwhelming and stressful. There are days when you feel the weight of playing both parental roles to your children. Here is a listing of some good prayers for single moms that will help to provide you with some spiritual relief.

Prayer #1

Lord,

Help me to be both Mother and Father to my children. Keep me healthy and strong on those days when I am weak. Remind me to love them in the same way that you have shown that special love for me.

Amen

Prayer #2

Lord Jesus Christ my God, who carried Your own Holy Cross to Golgotha, grant me the strength, patience and wisdom to bear the burdens of parenthood.

Fulfill in me anything I may be lacking and grant that through our prayers and those of Your Holy Mother, our family may grow closer to You and a Life in Christ. Amen

Prayer #3

Lord,

We pray that you will give strength, patience and wisdom to single parents trying to be both mother and father to their children, while at the same time facing up to their own needs.

Put into the hearts and minds of loving family, friends and neighbors the need to give support and help, to provide the benefits that are lacking.

Prayer #4

Dear God, she seems to bear the weight of the world on her shoulders, but to carry it more lightly than I think I would. I see her balancing work and home, money and no money, friends who no longer make time to see her, and I send up a prayer for her.

Her old friends have moved on with their lives, and in truth, she doesn’t have much in common with them anymore. She is lonely, loving God. She would like company but doesn’t want to make time for new relationships because her waking hours are already full: she is a mother. She walks when gas is too expensive for the car and forgoes new clothes so her child can have shoes.

This is not how her life started out, but circumstances changed from her life of privilege to this life she embraces so fully. Her life is difficult and she seems so tired much of the time, but I am inspired by the love she has for her child.

Give her the strength to put in long hours each day; the courage to face those who dismiss her with blaming and knowing nods; the ability to maintain her loving life at home; and the deepest knowledge in her heart that you love her.

Prayer #5

Dear Jesus,
You were a human on this earth with us and you know us and our imperfections so well. I beg you today for peace and grace in my heart as I see the mistakes I have made as a mother.

Help me not to focus on the mistakes I have made or the people who have judged me, but guide my attention to the center of your love.

Grant me the ability to forgive myself and feel how very deeply you love me because I am flawed and need your saving.

Give me the patience and compassion to love my children more deeply than I ever have. I long for their forgiveness.

Guide me with your Holy Spirit and give me the patience and love to let them being to trust in me.

Open my battered heart and lead me to comfort and peace.

Give me the patience and compassion to love my children more deeply than I ever have. I long for their forgiveness.
Guide me with your Holy Spirit and give me the patience and love to let them begin to trust in me.
Please heal the pain I carry in my heart each day and close the distance between my children and me.

I ask this in the name of your most loving mother, the mother of us all.
Amen

Prayer #6

Lord, look down from heaven above
And touch this special child with love.
Protect and guide this little one
‘Till each and every day is done.
Remind us often that it’s true:
This little life is a gift from you.
A miracle You’ve sent our way!
Lord, bless this little child today.

Prayer #7

Lord, Help me to be both Mother and Father to my children. Keep me healthy and strong on those days when I am weak. Remind me to love them in the same way that you have shown that special love for me. Amen.

A friend told me about Moms in Prayer
International (formerly known as Moms In Touch International) in 2005.  I was a single mom and in much pain from a
marital separation.  Through praying
with several Moms in Prayer groups over a 5 year period, God birthed in me
a love for prayer and for accountability. Both have kept me on the straight and
narrow path.  This path has led me to a
reconciled marriage as well as given me two children who have a heart for
prayer and for the Lord.

It was the prayers of the Moms in Prayer groups and

a church prayer group that God used to defy the “norm” for children

from a broken home.  My teenage son

was asked to be the chaplain for his Boy Scout troop. My 10 year old daughter

taught Bible stories at lunchtime to witness to her friends. In addition, she was

asked by a friend to help with a bible study at recess. I truly believe that

kids that are prayed FOR, prayed WITH, and prayed OVER (by their own moms and

other moms) can do amazing things for God’s glory. Not because they themselves are

amazing – but because they serve an amazing God who will always honor prayer.

I recommend Moms in Prayer to all moms but
especially to single moms. The task of raising children without another adult
in the house is extremely difficult. Single moms need much wisdom,
encouragement, and accountability. Without these things, single moms will likely
follow the destructive ways of coping with pain that the world offers.   However,
they can find everything they need and from a biblical perspective within a Moms
in Prayer group. What a treasure I found in this ministry!

I am thrilled to tell you that after being a single
mom for 6 years that I am no longer separated. God brought me and my husband
back together through the prayers of many for many years. I moved back home in
Sept 2010. That was just in time to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary
with my wonderful husband on Oct. 20th!

I give credit first to my Lord for restoring a
marriage and a family.  Then, I give
credit to my Moms in Prayer and church prayer partners who truly “carried
my burdens” just as the Lord directed them to. They are the best friends I
have ever had. They cried when I moved but kept saying with a smile through
their tears,   ”THIS (referring to me going back to my husband) is
what we have been praying for all these years! It is an amazing testimony to
God’s faithfulness and power!”   Truly, God has done exceedingly,
abundantly more than I could ever ask or imagine through the prayers of many. Prayer after prayer…year after year… that is
what God loves to reward by transforming lives for His glory!
