Prayer for court hearing

In August, we alerted you to Asia Bibi’s court date approaching in October. The time has come, and her final appearance will be this Thursday.

Pakistan’s Supreme Court will finally examine Asia Bibi’s blasphemy case this Thursday. Pakistani Christians ask their brothers and sisters worldwide to pray for Asia, her lawyer and family.

Please recall that Asia was sentenced to death by a Pakistani court for allegedly blaspheming the prophet Mohammed when she was having an argument with local Muslim women, who didn’t allow her to draw water from the well. She has been imprisoned since 2009. She was sentenced to death by a court. This verdict was first upheld and later suspended by a higher court (July 2015).

The case went to Pakistan’s Supreme Court, which has to make the final decision about her case. Thursday is a crucial day for Asia and likely her last chance. in the past, Muslim extremists have been able to influence court decisions. But local Christians have told Open Door’s partners that they remain hopeful, because of obvious mistakes that were made during the police investigation and court cases.

This Thursday, many Christians will gather to pray for Asia and other Christians in prison because of the Blasphemy Law. They strongly request that brothers and sisters elsewhere will join them in petitioning to the Lord.

Asia is married to a man who had three children from a previous marriage and together they also had two children. She is 45 years old. Sometimes she is referred to as Asia Bibi, Noreen Bibi or Asia Noreen Bibi.

  • Pray for Asia, that the Lord will use her testimony to draw people to him and to unite Pakistani Christians.
  • Pray that Asia will receive much strength and hope from Thursday’s court hearing. Pray that she will finally be released.
  • Pray for the Christians who gather together to pray, that the Lord will guide and answer their prayers.
  • Pray for the judges, the lawyers and the prosecutors that the Lord will work in their heart.
  • Pray for the Muslim extremists, that they will allow Asia to go and won’t take revenge on her or on others, so she can be reunited with her family and rebuild her life.

Dear friends, a while back we asked you to engage on behalf of three Christians in Ethiopia that have been found guilty on false charges of setting fire to an Orthodox church in May of this year. They have been sentenced to up to 9 years for their “crime”.

During an appeal hearing on October 23, judges once more asked for more files from the lower courts in order to gain full understanding into the proceedings until now. This is the second time the judges asked for these files, but the responsible parties failed to present them. The next hearing was scheduled for December 23. The three men continue to face harsh circumstances in prison notorious as a place where those opposed to the prior communist era government were tortured and killed.

The case was once more postponed and will be heard again on January 13 due to the fact that once more not all files had been received.

Please continue to pray for our brothers to remain strong in the faith and for the Lord to fulfill His purpose for them while they languish in jail. Pray that they and their families would not be overwhelmed with discouragement.

Prayer for Favor for those involved in Court Matters (Legal Battles)

Father, as I stand before the judge and jury today in the court matter, let no deceit befall me. Allow me to speak the truth, not only in this case but also in the ones ahead, for the truth will set me free.

Allow all the evidence at hand to work in my favor, to emerge victorious, and let no weapon, formed against me by the opposing side, prosper.

Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

I cast out any fear and anxiety in my heart that would hinder my victory. Let no false witness that rise up against me prosper.

I will cling to You, Oh Heavenly Father, for You are my strength in the midst of these legal battles. Help me to be calm and to think clearly. Ease my mind of the noise within, quiet my soul so that I can hear and follow Your instruction.

Psalm 5:12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord. You cover him with favor as a shield.

I thank You in advance, for I know with You by my side the battle is already won. I pray that You will grace me with Your favor within the courtroom.

Take control Lord, and guide me accordingly. I declare and decree that I will emerge victorious and give You all the praise, honor and glory You deserve, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

Isaiah 58:11 And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong. And you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

I cast out any anxiety that will hinder my victory. Let no false witness against me prosper. Click To Tweet
