A Prayer for Personal Healing

God, you know me so well. You created me. You know the number of hairs on my head, and you even know the thoughts conceived in my heart before I ever vocalize them. You’ve told us to come to you and ask for every need of life. You are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals, and you have the final word on my destiny, the number of years I’ll live and serve you on earth.

I’m coming to you today as your child, longing to hear from you and asking for your divine healing. There’s so much I don’t understand about life. But I do know that with one touch, one word, you can make me whole. Please forgive me of my sins, cleanse me of my unrighteousness, and begin your healing from the inside out.

I don’t always know what your will is Lord, especially in times like now, when I desperately seek your face. I offer you no promises, no bargains, no deals to exchange for my health. I simply bow my heart before you to tell you the desire of my heart: that I want to spend as many years as I can loving you here, loving others, and wanting to become more like you. However you choose to accomplish that is up to you—and okay with me. If you use doctors to provide healing, give them wisdom to know what to do. Regardless of how you accomplish it, the healing you give is always miraculous. And you deserve all the praise.

I absolutely believe you have the power to heal. You demonstrated that on earth, and you still heal in miraculous ways today. Even when my faith is weak, you say it is enough, and my love for you is strong. And I know you already hold my heart and life in your hands. It’s up to you. If I can bring you more glory through healing, then that’s what I ask for. That’s what I desire.

But if your answer is no, or not now, I know that your grace is sufficient for me. Ultimately, I want your will to be my will. I look forward to spending an eternity with you. But Lord, if you have planned still more for me to do here on this earth, I not only need and want your physical healing, Lord, but a thorough, deep-down cleansing and strengthening—a whole-hearted renewal of all that I am. Because all that I am is yours. Use this trial to strengthen me from a “what-if” faith to a “no-matter-what” faith. And no matter what, I choose to honor you and give you glory.
In Jesus’s name, Amen.

How to Pray for Healing – Max Lucado

A Short Prayer for Healing for Friends

Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises over my friend. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of my friend. Please reach down and surround my friend with supernatural peace and strength and give her the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Protect her from Satan’s lies and discouragement and let her miraculous healing begin. Amen.

A Prayer for Healing and Grace

Dear God,
We confess our need for you today. We need your healing and your grace. We need hope restored. We need to be reminded that you work on behalf of those you love, constantly, powerfully, completely. Forgive us for trying to fix our situations all on our own. Forgive us for running all different directions and spinning our wheels to find help, when true help and healing must be found first in You. Forgive us for forgetting how much we need you, above everyone and everything else. We come to you and bring you the places we are hurting. You see where no one else is able to fully see or understand. You know the pain we’ve carried. The burdens. The cares. You know where we need to be set free. We ask for your healing and grace to cover every broken place. Every wound. Every heartache. Thank you that you are Able to do far more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for your Mighty Power that acts on behalf of your children. We reach out to you, and know that you are restoring and redeeming every place of difficulty, every battle, for your greater glory. Thank you that you will never waste our pain and suffering. We love you. We need you today.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen

A Prayer for Healing Sick Family and Friends

Lord Jesus, thank you that you love . I know that you hate what their illness is doing to them/me. I ask that you would heal this disease, that you would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness.

Your word says in Psalm 107:19-20 that when we call out to you the Eternal one you will give the order, heal and rescue us from certain death. In the Bible, I have read of miraculous healing and I believe that you still heal the same way today. I believe that there is no illness you cannot heal after all the bible tells of you raising people from the dead so I ask for your healing in this situation.

I also know from my experience of life on earth that not everyone is healed. If that happens here than keep my heart soft towards you, help me to understand your plan and help me to be excited about heaven.

God, I thank you that belongs to you and that you are in control of everything that happens from our first breath to our last sigh.

prayer for a miracle healing for a friend

Although scripture describes God as omnipotent and all-powerful—capable of anything—it can still be difficult to believe that prayer can result in physical healing. It’s much easier to believe that God can change our psychology, but for Him to set a broken arm or cure diabetes? That takes a different level of faith. Rest assured, though, that scripture gives ample promise that God does miraculously heal us.

We just have to know how to ask.

A more difficult aspect of this truth, however, is that sometimes our prayers for healing go unanswered, no matter how fervently and faithfully we pray. But when we come to understand why God heals, as well as why He doesn’t, we discover that even our unanswered prayers are for the best. In this knowledge we can find peace, even in the direst of circumstances.

No matter what, though, God wants to take care of His children—that includes physically healing them. Let’s take a journey into scripture so that you can learn how to pray for His miraculous healing, why God heals us, and how to handle it when He doesn’t.

Why God Heals

When Christ sent out the disciples, they went about “teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and affliction among the people,” according to Matthew 4:23. Jesus “called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.”

Healing is a testament to God’s character and power. To heal someone is an inherently loving act, and to do so miraculously shows great power, both of which are aspects of God.

Healing, then, is a way for God to reveal Himself to humankind. He does not merely heal for our convenience—for that, He has already given us the plants and the elements from which to make medicines.

God loves us, and wants our best, and He is willing to miraculously heal us when the act will bring about a greater good by showing the world who He is.

Pray the Right Way

In Luke 8: 43-46, we find a woman who touches Jesus’ clothing as he makes his way through a large group of people, and is healed. But why her? Out of all the people in that crowd, why was she, alone, healed?

Two things set her apart. The first is that she believed Christ could heal her. The second is that she not only desired healing, but acted on that desire by reaching out.

Just as this woman actively reached out in order to receiving physical healing, we must actively reach out to God through prayer. The power is there, waiting.

So, if you have the desire for healing, and you believe that God can heal you, what is the best way to pray?

Jesus gives us the perfect example in Matthew 6:9, when He recites the Lord’s Prayer. Let’s take a look at this prayer.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

Jesus didn’t give us this prayer so that we could recite it word-for-word. Rather, this is a guide on how to pray for the things we need.

It begins with praise to God, as well as the acknowledgement that we want His will to be done, not our own—a great way to begin any prayer, since God knows infinitely more about what we need than we, ourselves, do.

For healing, the most important part of this prayer is the line, “our daily bread,” which translates to asking God for the things we need. This doesn’t mean fame or riches or a superhumanly beautiful body. This part of the Lord’s Prayer reminds us to examine our motivations when we pray so that we’re not asking for a miracle out of selfishness or greed.

When we pray for miraculous healing, we need to take on a certain mindset: we must want God’s will to be done, and not ours, and we must ask in a way that is free from greed and selfishness. This is the kind of praying that God rewards, and that can transform the way we think for the better.

When God Doesn’t Heal

Even in the Bible, not everyone who desired miraculous healing received it, and we must each be prepared for this eventuality, as well.

God does want us to be happy, but because He can see all ends, He knows that not performing miracles can be just as important as performing them for us. After all, sometimes the greatest testimonies come out of our weakness.

Yet, this answer doesn’t quite satisfy in a world where thousands of innocents suffer and die each day. Why doesn’t God heal starving children? Why doesn’t he heal the elderly? It’s difficult to simply wave all this away with a dismissive “God uses suffering to teach us.”

First, you must truly believe that God hears and answers all of our prayers. Now keep in mind, the answer you receive… may not be the answer you want. However, you must always remember that God loves you with all of his heart. You are his child, his beloved and his decision to grant or not to grant your wish simply comes out of his love for you.

Consider the Child who asks a parent for different things throughout their lives. Sometimes the parent will grant the child their wishes and sometimes they will not. The parent always has the best intentions and love in mind for the child, yet the child very often feels angry they have been denied that which they seek. But the parent knows best.

And please remember this, those children who are good children, persistent children and obedient children often get those things which they request from their parents more so than those children who are selfish or self centered.

You may not understand why your prayer seems to have gone unanswered, you may not understand why the painful cross or burden you are carrying was not lifted off your shoulder. You may not understand why such a precious wife, husband, child or friend is suffering… or has been taken from you… But someday you will.  Keep in mind, the most perfect of swords must go thru the hottest of fires… over and over again until it is perfect and magnificent.  So to with our own souls.

Remember these important facts when praying for a Miracle

Be Persistent

Jesus told his disciples to pray night and day and not to give up. He also told us to have the elders of the church pray for us. (James 5:14-15)
Then Jesus also told his disciples a story to show them that they should always pray and not give up…. it goes like this
He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, `Grant me justice against my adversary.’  “For some time he refused… and every time he refused, she would knock on his home door late into the evening.. repeating her request!  Finally he said to himself, `Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!’  And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? (James 5:16)
Pray for each other so that you may be healed….  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

You Must Have Genuine Faith

While a great amount of faith is not required for God to heal, it certainly can’t hurt. With faith Jesus tells us that “Nothing will be impossible for you”. Mark 6: 1-6
Christ says, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, `Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

So what is Genuine Faith? Genuine Faith is the core belief that Jesus Christ was the true Son of God… and today, He is seated at the right hand of the Power of God… He and God Are One and the Same.  If you believe this… and would be willing to die for this belief… He will provide his protection to you and his love… and his kindness and mercy… he shall bestow upon you and your future generations. And this Genuine Faith… is the key to your request for a Miracle.  If Christ is God…. then he is truley capable of answering your prayers… suspending the laws of science and the heavens… all because of your love for him.

And that’s where Miracles arise from….

You Must Have Love and Forgiveness in Your Heart

Love & Forgiveness. There is no question that God wants us to Love and Forgive each other. Love is God’s command. Love is healing. (John 15:12-14)

If you eat foods that are unhealthy… filled with salts, fat and rubbish… your body will get sick.  So it is with your Soul.

Everyday you intake terrible news on Television, read about terrible things online, People hating other people.  Conflicts, War, Mean Spiritedness…. all these ingredients can make your Soul sick as well.  And if you have a sick soul…. your body will be sick as well.  For the Body is the temple of the Soul… and if it is rotting and infected on the inside…. it is just a matter of time before that infection or sickness shows visibly thru the bricks of the temple.

So before you pray for a Miracle…. You need to reconcile with all those whom you are in conflict with.  Forgive All Sins and Transgressions committed against you by others.  (You don’t have to artificially “Like” everyone… but you do need to genuinely “Love” everyone.  Recognize them in your heart… as brothers and sisters in Christ… part of the same family of God.  They do not need to forgive you… but so long as you have forgiven them… the healing can  begin.

Then you should really confess your own sins to a priest.  The simple act of confession puts you in an awkward situation… admitting to someone other than yourself… that you have done things you are not proud of and regret.  The simple act of confession is often the humility… and the bitter medicine that the Soul needs to heal first.

Once You and Your Soul are at Peace…

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard

“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

Now…. Proceed To Ask for Your Miracle!

Jesus – I Trust In You

Ask God For a Miracle

There is no magical prayer for a Miracle, there only exists a private conversation with God. God will perform miracles, but you must Ask and Trust in him and his will.
If you feel you are unworthy to Pray or don’t know how to pray – but still need help or need to be heard – you can do the following.

  • Ask for Christ’s help
  • Ask for the Intercession of Mary – the Mother of God
  • Ask for the intercession of the Saints
  • Ask for the Intercession of others to pray for your cause
  • Pray Yourself

Let’s Begin

1. Quiet Your Mind – Find a peaceful spot inside or outside. You want to find a location where you wont be distracted and can give GOD your full attention.

2. Take 13 deep breathes – close your eyes.

3. Make the sign of the cross
Say In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

4. Say the words that Christ himself gave us in teaching us how to pray…
Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

5. Apologize First for any wrong you have done in the past – be sincere.
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life.

6. Recite this Prayer

Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort,

You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with your servant ______________ (Name of Person) in this    illness     (or Crisis). Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to your servant. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from their body.

Dear Lord, I ask you to turn this weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. May your servant trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of this suffering. Let them be filled with patience and joy in your presence as they await for your healing touch.

Please restore your servant to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from their heart by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through their life.

As you heal and renew your servant, Lord, may they bless and praise you.

All of this I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.  Thank You for hearing my Prayer.  Amen

The Prayer to the Sacred Heart

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, to Your most Sacred Heart I confide this intention {name petition}. Only look upon me, then do what Your love inspires. Let Your Sacred Heart decide. I count on You. I trust in You. I throw myself on Your mercy. Lord Jesus, You will not fail me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Your love for me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, Your kingdom come. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I have asked You for many favors, but I earnestly implore this one. Take it, place it in Your open Heart. When the Eternal Father looks upon it, He will see it covered with Your Precious Blood. It will be no longer my prayer, but Yours, Jesus. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You. Let me not be disappointed. Amen

Now Talk With God like He is your parent of Parents!

You have gained the attention of the great God Almighty himself, your father, your creator… the only thing which is real, right now, at this very moment, the only thing that exists is — you and him — together.

Now talk to him… talk to him as if you are a child… for you still are. In the measure of eternity, your time on earth is but just a passing moment. In the Eyes of God, you are a mere minute older than when he first breathed life into you. You are still his beloved child.. his creation…. a part of him.

  • Ask him for your miracle!
  • Listen – Listen to his answer. Every Prayer is answered – sometimes just not in the way you expect.
  • Discern
  • Thank him for hearing your prayers
  • Accept his will – his decision
  • Tell him that you love him
  • Live Your Life Every Day as a good person
  • Help everyone – Harm no one – be beholden only to God and no Man. Be like Christ.
