Christian prayer for safe travel

Prayer for safe travel. Prayer for traveling grace – family, loved ones, friends safe trip. It is good to say a prayer after returning from a journey or before starting on a new it. Whether we travel by car, plane, or ship thanking God for a safe trip show how grateful you are for journey mercies knowing that a lot of dangers are always on the roads we pass through every day.

There are many “roads demons” out there looking for a prey to feed. Also, we have many road users engaging in dangerous activities that might cost human their precious lives; such as texting while driving, driving while intoxicated, over speeding and the likes, its only takes God’s mercy and grace to reach our various destination without been a victim.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. That also includes a prayer for traveling grace:

  • Prayer for Safe Trip.
  • Prayer before Traveling.
  • Prayer before Flight.

Prayer for Traveling Grace

Prayer for Safe Trip

Gracious God,
we love and thank you
for granting us a safe trip. Your mercy has preserved us from all road evil and we can travel in safety to our destination. We are grateful for your tender care and protection. Please Lord, in future we pray you extend same protection over us. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayer before Traveling

Dear Lord,
we thank you for everything you have done for us.
Even as we about embark on this journey, be our guide and our protector. Watch over us and save us from any form of accident. Keep us free from harm to body and soul. Lord, please support us with Your grace when we are tired. Help us to handle any trouble which may come our way. Keep us mindful of Your presence and love always. Amen.

Prayer before Flight

Dear God,
I commit my journey into your hands as I fly out today, watch over me. Let your hands of protection be on the pilot, guide the engineers that prepare the plane and give wisdom to the control teams on the ground. Travel with me on this journey, calm me and cover me with your blood. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

The above prayers for traveling grace brings comfort, security and acknowledges Gods love and grace over us. As Psalm 121:7-8 says, “The Lord will keep you from all harm – He will watch over your life; The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore”.

Why should We Pray for Traveling Grace?

We Need Gods Presence in Our Journey

Prayer for safe travel. Going on a journey either long or short is what everyone does on a daily basis. So a prayer for traveling grace is essential to let God know we appreciate His presence or want Him to go with us on our journey. It could be a trip to school, vacation, business or any trip we need to travel.

Although the majority of people who drive might be a good driver that obeys all traffic rules but still believes they need the divine protection from God and this they ask through prayers. Psalm 23:4 says “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me”.

Ephesians 5:15-16 says, “Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise; redeeming the time because the days are evil”. The Bible makes us understand that all days are full of evil.

Life is challenging as well as the road we pass through every day, danger looms everywhere. No clear sight of what is ahead of us nor the kind of people we share a road with that might cause havoc, that is why we need to commit our ways to Gods hands through prayer for traveling grace and let Him take over the wheel to bring us to safety.

How our Prayer for safe Travel can Help?

Most times when we travel, we might suddenly feel anxious or fearful for a specific reason or even unknown reason. At this point, God will remind us He is with us because we have asked Him to come along.

One thing is sure, prayer changes things, and it works, therefore when we pray for traveling grace, there’s a feeling of peace, security, and comfort that overwhelmed us during this challenging time on our journey. God has promised us peace and safety as His children.

If you are traveling to do God’s work, on vacation, visiting relatives, or business trip, remember we are on earth to serve as traveling grace in going with God.

I often wondered if there’s a prayer suitable for setting off for a journey or adventure. As I am not English native speaker, I pray in my mother tongue, but people from all over the world travel for ages and it seems that our fears remain the same.

What you can find below is a compilation of a few prayers I found online. You can pray by saying one (or more) of them, or combine favorite parts of different prayers into your own, personal one, as I do. Everything is up to you  🙂

The older I get the more I understand why my parents wanted to know when I was going to be home and who I was riding with if I wasn’t driving.  They were concerned for my safety and well-being.  Whether I was walking down the street, taking a bus trip with school/church, or just driving to a local restaurant, safety was their number one concern.  I am so grateful for my parents and the values they have instilled in me.  Here are 6 encouraging prayers for you or your loved ones who are traveling.

The Long Haul

Dear Lord,

You know the road before me.  This is a long journey I am about to take.  I pray for a safe journey these 700 miles, Lord.  I pray that if any problems come my way that Your hand would be with me and guide me through them.  I pray for the other drivers on the road with me.  Father, I pray for good rest for us all and that cell phones will be put away so no distractions take our eyes off of the road.  Lord, You are mighty and I love You!  Amen

I’m The Passenger

Father,

I thank you so much for Your everlasting love for me!  Guide my friend, John, as he takes us to the convention this weekend.  The journey isn’t too long, but traffic will be a mess and trying to find parking may be a problem.  Father, guide his mind, hands and feet to deliver us safely to our destination.  I place this journey in Your hands.  I love You!  Amen

Uncertainties

Blessed Lord,

My wife/husband is not responding to my calls.  I am worried about her/his safety.  Please bring my spouse home quickly and safely.  I know about the crash on highway 72, but I don’t know if he/she passed through already.  Lord, I am scared.  Please hear my prayer.  Bring my spouse home to me.  I pray for Your hand to deliver my spouse safely into my arms tonight.  I love You, Father!  Amen

No Service/No GPS

Father, please guide me to somewhere safe where I can ask for directions.

Dear Lord,

Technology seems to bring us more trouble at times and I have no service for my GPS right now.  I’ve pulled over to ask You to help me stay calm.  I don’t know the area I am in at all and I don’t have a map.  Father, please guide me to somewhere safe where I can ask for directions.  Lord, I get scared when I don’t know where I am at and I need You right now!  Thank You for Your love and protection over me!  Amen

For Family Coming To My Place

O Lord,

I am excited with the anticipation of seeing my cousins and aunts and uncles for our family Christmas party.  Lord, the roads aren’t the best and there are many icy spots.  Lord, I have everything ready here.  I have the turkey in the oven and all the sides ready to go.  I have the rooms ready for my family to sleep in.  I have games and movies ready.  The only thing I am missing is my loved ones.  They are not here yet, but I know Your hand is with them.  Please guide them here safely.  Lord, keep the deer off of the roads and please keep other drivers alert.  I love You, Father!  Amen

Bless The Truck Drivers

Father in Heaven,

I just want to say “thank You” to all of the men and women who are on the road every single day delivering goods to our stores so we have food and clothing.  Lord, they go through so much stress making sure their freight is delivered on time.  When hazardous conditions arise I pray You keep them safe.  When they are running behind, give them Your peace in the moment.  Father, I pray for safe journeys for our truck drivers.  Without them I don’t know where we would be.  I am so grateful for the time they put in on the road.  Father I pray that You also deliver them home safely to their families on their days off.  Father, You are so awesome and I love You!  Amen

Conclusion

We all are on different journeys daily in our lives.  Some of us drive to work.  Some of us need rides from point “A” to point “B”.  Some of us drive equipment for construction.  Whatever you do for a living that requires driving can and should be prayed about.  I pray that you all have a safe day!  God bless you all as you continue to live a life worthy of the calling!

Worry often hides in the background during the holiday season. She raises her head as if to remind us that everything can’t be entirely joy-filled. Especially in regards to travelling. She bursts into our thoughts with “what-if’s.” “What if they can’t get here on time?” “What if the weather delays flights?” “What if there is an accident on the highway?” Whether train, bus, plane, or car, the mode of transportation isn’t so much the issue as safety. Our hearts long to embrace friends and family in secure environments with happy hearts.

When worry latches on, the best method I’ve found to shake off her hold is converting those nagging phrases to words of prayer, praise and thanksgiving. For we know that when things seem out of control, God is always in control. He is our Defender, Advocate, and Protector. Below are a few examples of how we can exchange thoughts of worry to thoughts of fortitude.

1. Rather than thinking about our fears of the worst happening, we can reflect on the good that has happened. When we know the Lord, we have no reason to be afraid. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? Psalm 118:6 ESV

2. Rather than allowing worry to consume our minds, we can lift thoughts of praise to God for His promises of protection and provision. The Lord has promised to give us the protection of His angels. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11 ESV

3. Rather than dwelling on potential emergencies, we can think on positive encouragement. When we reflect on God’s work in our lives, we are inspired to look at future possibilities. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. Psalm 145:5 ESV

Why worry when we can pray? May this prayer for safe travels encourage your heart to discard worry over safety and cover your friends and loved ones in prayer.

A Prayer for Safe Travels

Dear Father,

When worry and fear lurk in my heart, teach me to praise you for your promises. Thank you for being the One in control; I know there is nothing to fear. Thank you for sending your angels to guard us here; I believe you love and protect like no other. Thank you for your secure hand and defending presence in the past; I praise you for continuing to hold the future. May I continue to reflect on your glory, My Defender.

Amen.
