A prayer of thankfulness

“God smiles when we praise and thank Him continually. Few things feel better than receiving heartfelt praise and appreciation from someone else. God loves it, too… An amazing thing happens when we offer praiseand thanksgiving to God. When we give God enjoyment, our own hearts are filled with joy.” – Rick Warren

It is not easy to give thanks in every circumstance. But when we choose to thank God in the midst of difficulty, it defeats the forces of darkness in the spiritual realm. When we thank God for every gift He has given us even when things are hard, the enemy loses the battle against us. He is stopped in his tracks when we come to God with a thankful heart.

Learn to be thankful for every blessing from God in your life. It is of great significance to Him if in the midst of great trials, we can be thankful. There is a way of looking at life from the standpoint of eternity. The reality of eternal life and eternal glory that far exceeds this life is a priceless treasure. Our afflictions are working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

Let’s learn to thank God every day during all seasons.

A Prayer for a Thankful Heart

Lord, teach me to offer you a heart of thanksgiving and praise in all my daily experiences of life. Teach me to be joyful always, to pray continually and to give thanks in all my circumstances. I accept them as Your will for my life (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). I long to bring pleasure to Your heart daily. Break the power of the enemy in my life. Defeat Him through my sacrifice of praise. Change my outlook and attitude into one of joyful contentment with my present circumstances. I thank You for…

Jesus, I want to be like You who obeyed the Father without complaint. You embraced the chains of humanity when You walked this earth. Convict me whenever I complain or compare myself with others. Give me Your attitude of humility and thankful acceptance. I want to be like the Apostle Paul who learned contentment in every circumstance. I choose to continually offer You a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that give praise to Your name (Hebrews 13:15). I long to bring a smile to Your face. Teach me the power of a thankful heart. I know that Your truth dwells in a thankful heart.“I will give thanks to the LORD because of His righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens” (Psalm 7:17-18:1). In Jesus’ name, amen.

“O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.” Isaiah 25:1.

Heavenly Father, I rejoice in You and praise Your mighty name. I extol You, my God, O King. You are great and to be highly praised as Your greatness is unsearchable and knows no end. I will meditate on Your wonderful works and speak of the power of Your awesome acts.

You are gracious and merciful, slow to anger and great in loving-kindness. You are good to all and sustain all who fall and raise those who are bowed down. You have done great things for me and I am glad. Fill my mouth with laughter and my tongue with joyful shouting.

Father, I praise You for the sacrifice of Your Son and my salvation. You justified me with an undeserved and unrepayable love of mercy; forgiving me my transgressions through the work of Your Son. (1 Corinthians 1:4).

I praise You in Your sanctuary and in Your mighty expanse of heaven and earth. Your name alone is to be exalted. Receive my gratitude for the family You have blessed me with. I’m thankful for the gift of marriage and companionship on this earth. The children You gave have blessed my heart and I seek to honour You as I raise them for Your glory. The congregation and fellowship of the saints have touched me. The support received from Your hand has sustained me.

I acknowledge with a grateful heart the many favours You’ve bestowed upon me. Your provision of shelter, food, clothing and warmth has been my portion. You have poured out many needful things to live this life and I’m in awe of Your faithfulness. You are kind in all Your deeds and near to those who call on Your name.

You have graced my body with health and provided protection from all harm. You wish for me to prosper and be in health even as my soul prospers. I’m thankful for the work You have begun in me. Please continue to grow my faith, knowledge and understanding of Your Word.

You’re glory is above earth and heaven and I stand in awe at all You’ve created in sky, sea and land. My delight is in You as I gaze upon the beauty of seasons, creatures, critters and fowl. You bring rain, wind, hail and snow to accomplish Your purpose. The mountains and hills declare Your majesty while the fruit trees and cedars raise their arms in adoration.

Father, You are the beneficent Author of all that was and is and is still to come. I render to You my sincere and humble thanks for Your kind care, consideration and unfailing love.

In Jesus Name,

Amen.

“Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His loving-kindness is everlasting and his faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 100.

QUESTION: What are some prayers of thanks?

ANSWER:

These prayers of thanks are based on Romans 8, Galatians 5:1, and Philippians 1:6.

Lord I come before You, desiring to provide thanks.

Father, I have so much to be thankful for, things unseen and seen,

that You have done in my life.

Lord, mostly I am thankful for the relationship that I have with You.

Lord, You initiated this relationship, by what Your Son endeavored to accomplish,

paying the price for my sin, redeeming and reconciling me.

Dear Heavenly Father, You know the times I have been ungrateful, held ill thoughts toward You and my fellow humans. You know the times I complain and grumble about life and its circumstances, about suffering, going through what seem endless trials and tribulations. Even yielding my members to unholy deeds.

Yet God You are and always will be there with me, even when it seems like I am forever in the wilderness, running further and further from You, You, my God are there guiding me back to Your loving arms.

I am thankful Lord for everything that You allow to cross my path. Thankful for the decisions that You allow me to make and the lessons that come from these decisions.

I’m thankful, Lord, that I do not have to live under condemnation anymore, that You have truly set me free, that I am a new creation that I need not live under the law anymore. Thankful Lord that You have given me joy unspeakable. Thankful Lord that You are longsuffering, allowing me to mature in You!

Lord, words do not express my thankfulness. For Your mighty power is at work in me, transforming me, renewing my mind. To You Lord belong thanks eternal.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

These prayers of thanks are based on 1 Corinthians 2, Matthew 5 – 6, Hebrews 12:

Lord, there are marvelous things that I do not know, nor can I comprehend.

Lord, things that happen in my life, and things that happen in my friends lives.

Lord, I desire to be thankful, to appreciate everything that comes across my path.

Lord, so often life hurts, I get angry — upset, I do not understand, yet Lord You ask me to be thankful for everything, and have faith – thank You.

Lord, help me to be thankful, when the rains come on the just and the unjust, that You care so much about me, that Your to chasten, to build character and godliness in me, to be a mirrored reflection of Your Son to reach others.

Lord, I thank You for mercy, for the hunger for righteousness, for forgiveness, for purity, for providing for my needs.

Lord, I thank You for prayer, That I can come before You and call You Father.

That I can cast my burdens on You.

Lord, I thank You for my heart, the treasure and light You placed in there — the Holy Spirit.

Lord, help me to endeavor, to be thankful for everything.

Lord, it seems most of the time, what happens is about me.

Lord, I thank you that You gently remind me that the things are not about me, however, my life and what happens is more about You, Your will, and Your Kingdom.

Lord, I thank You, I praise You. Lord, in You do I find strength and courage to go on.

Lord, I thank You for the author and finisher of my faith – Jesus Christ and that in You is hope everlasting.

Lord, I thank You for the blood of Jesus, Your precious lamb.

Thank You Lord God!

In Jesus’ name, amen.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

– We have all

sinned

and deserve God’s judgment.

God

, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him.

Jesus

, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He

died

for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was

buried

, and

rose from the dead

according to the

Bible

. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your

Savior

, declaring, “

Jesus is Lord

,” you will be saved from

judgment

and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?
