Prayers for my children

I lift my hands in worship to You Lord for You are so awesome. You reign on high and I adore You. I pour out my heart Heavenly Father for a special outpouring of Your blessings upon the lives of my children.

You promised me Abba, that if I bring up my children in the right way they will honor You. At this time, I feel that they have turned completely from You and Your Word. So today, I look to You for Hope and Encouragement.

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Bring good things into their lives

Father God, You are the Living God of opportunities and are filled with promises. I constantly expect to see good things happen in my children’s lives.

But my expectations are soon dashed by what I see happening to them. I know that they can overcome every obstacle once they refuse to give up because the Spirit of God lives in them.

Isaiah 54:13 – All your children shall be taught by the Lord , and great shall be the peace of your children.

This is their season

Almighty God, it is my prayer, as I intercede on their behalf and stand in faith, that this is their season. They will begin to walk in righteousness and see new opportunities flooding their hearts and minds.

Rivers of living water will flow through them, exposing the awesome wonder of Who You really are.

The power and peace that will overtake them will have them wanting more of You.

I pray that they will learn to ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and as they walk in victory and obedience, they will also declare that Jesus is their Lord and Saviour.

Colossians 2:6-7 – As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

QUESTION: Can you give me several prayers for children?

ANSWER:

Parents/teachers, may this be a valuable resource to you in developing prayers for children, as well as teaching them how to pray…

Mark 10:13-14 says, “People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

Jesus clearly made it understood to His disciples that no one was to hinder children in seeking Him, or being brought to Him! He values our little ones! He loves our little ones. He desires to communicate with children, and in my opinion, truly enjoys their simplistic faith! No deep theology to boggle the mind, they just accept that He is there and that He is God! Oh, that we as adults would sometimes do the same.

Consider these tips for teaching children how to pray:

  • Prayer is just like talking to your mom and dad, except you’re talking to God, our Heavenly Father.
  • God hears your every prayer, and even though you can’t physically see Him, He’s in Heaven listening!
  • Pray for others, like “Uncle Jack who is sick.”
  • God likes to hear from you a lot. We can pray at other times during the day as well as at bedtime.
  • Thank God for what He has given you — your home, your family, your “stuff.”
  • Tell God about the things that make you scared or worried.
  • Tell God when you are angry! He’ll help you know what to do.
  • Ask God how He wants you to treat others. . .like the bully at school.
  • Ask God to forgive you of doing wrong to other people or their things. He’s a God of “second chances”!
  • Ask God how you can show His love to other kids or adults.

Not all of these methods need to be taught in one prayer session! That would be too overwhelming at any age. Instead, simply use the right opportunity to present one of these tips.

For example, if you have a child who is particularly concerned about a parent leaving on a business trip, use tip number 6. If your child has a friend who is sad because his parents are getting a divorce, use tip number 3. Ample opportunities will arise to teach your children about prayer. My first and foremost tip would be to teach them by example. Let them see you pray, and hear you pray. That itself will teach them volumes!

Prayers for children need to be simple and to the point. Below are some examples you can adapt to your own specific situations:

“Dear God, thank you for my family, my home, and my pets. Some kids don’t’ have these things. Help me know how I can share with someone. And help me know how to show them you love them. Amen.”

“God, thank you for listening to me right now. I’m scared for my friend Joey. He’s moving, and he’s scared and doesn’t want to go. Help him find new friends and be happy again. Let him know you are there. Amen.

“God, I’m really, really mad at my sister right now! She just broke my favorite CD! Show me what to do. Amen.

“God, today I made a mistake. I did something I shouldn’t have. Please forgive me and help me not to do that again. Amen.

For very young children, consider using poem prayers like these:

Help me love, help me care, help me smile, help me share.
Help me give, help me grow, help me laugh, help me know.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

– We have all

sinned

and deserve God’s judgment.

God

, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him.

Jesus

, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He

died

for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was

buried

, and

rose from the dead

according to the

Bible

. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your

Savior

, declaring, “

Jesus is Lord

,” you will be saved from

judgment

and spend eternity with God in heaven.

prayers for my children

Dear Lord,
Thank you for my children. I pray they see You in me and follow You because of it. Please forgive me when I mess up, and help my kids to forgive me as well. Lord, I pray that my kids see and know deep within their hearts that You love them.

I pray they know without a doubt that I love them too…especially when they mess up.

Help my children to know that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14), and You have great plans for their life that will help them to prosper and have hope…even when times are tough (Jeremiah 29:11).

Give my children the strength to do hard things and never give up. Let them learn from their mistakes and get back up when they fall. I pray You give them wisdom to know what is good and what is bad. Protect them from falling into the pits of addiction, abuse, anxiety/depression, and pride.

Lord, give them grace towards others who wrong them, but also, help them to be wise in choosing their close friends. I pray that my kids give their heart to You.  When someone tries to break it, You will be there to make them feel whole again.

Lord, help my children to make good decisions that will have a positive impact on their future. Equip them for what You have in store for them. Help them to keep their eyes firmly fixed on You and Your will and to be in tune to what You want them to do.

Give them a hunger for Your word, and help them to hide it in their hearts.

Lord, help me to do everything I possibly can to teach them to be independent individuals who love You, love people, and serve the world. When they are down and doubting their abilities or purpose in this world, help me to say the right words to give them hope.

Thank you for the tremendous gift it is to watch them learn and grow. May I never take any day for granted.

Thank you for loving my children even more than I do. Their lives are in Your amazing, loving hands, Lord. Watch over them, protect them, and keep them healthy, strong, wise, and kind, so they may be a light for You.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
