Dear God, Remember your little ones that you have known before they were even in their mama’s womb.
They have come early to this place and we welcome them with open arms. But God because they are here so early they suffer physical problems that only you can help them with.
Place your hand over each one and help these little angels be as healthy as can be so that they may lead wonderful normal lives and bring bsck the smile to their parents faces. These little premees are the closest creatures to heaven the earth has.
God Bless them and help their afflictions to be minimal. May theywitness your blessings through Christ our lord by which everything is possible.

Our preemie is my niece, Paisleigh. She was born while my brother and sister in law were on vacation at Disney at 23 weeks and 5 days. We’re from Texas! I’m a NICU RN so it’s been very interesting to be on the other side! She’s doing amazingly well because she has been lifted up in prayer immediately! God is so good! Bryant was born January 23rd at 34 weeks and weighed 3lbs 8 ounces. When he was a week old his oxygen levels started dropping and he was flown via jet to UAB where he had a blood transfusion and blood exchange because his red blood cells where breaking and he had to be put on oxygen and his jaundice level wouldn’t come down. After 2 weeks in Birmingham NICU he was able to come home with us. He now weighs 5lbs 2.5ounces and is up to 3 ounces per feedings. He also has a little bit of a cold right now and is congested so please pray he will get over that soon! Considering all Bryant and mommy went through during pregnancy, labor & delivery, we are truly blessed, he is a true miracle. It took us 3 years and an IUI to get pregnant with him. He is our whole world.
I welcomed Cooper and Kennedy into the world at 32 weeks and 5 days on the 6th of February. Cooper weighed 4lbs 3oz and Kennedy weighed 3lb 1oz. They have been in the NICU for almost three weeks now. Cooper has had a rough start, he was on a CPAP breathing machine, graduated to a tube and is now breathing on his own with destats every so often. Kennedy has been a trooper from the start, small and fiesty as ever. She didn’t need any oxygen and she’s currently taking bottles on her own. She may get to go home this weekend. Cooper has some catching up to do with his bottles, but he seems to be on the right track. I hate the feeling of leaving big brother behind. I feel so guilty being at home and not spending my every min of everyday with my little ones. Please say a prayer that my little ones can come home soon and that once home they both continue to grow and strive.

It was May 30, 2011. A little before 7 am when I got the text from my mom. “Pray for KK – headed to hospital. Having contractions”. My heart stopped for a second, but thinking it was just braxton hicks or something, I didn’t worry to much right then. Not long after, I got another text. “Pray hard, Karen is in labor and they are trying to stop it.”
I jumped up and got ready to head up to the hospital. At that point I started to get worried and continually said a prayer. She was only 24 weeks along….
I remember everything about that day. From the second I got to the hospital to the second I left. I remember where I was when I got another text that said “COME QUICK” from my mom. Karen’s water had just broke and we all got the news that Cooper would make his appearance into the world that day – three and a half months early. I remember every phone call I made. Every face I saw there that day.
I remember being in Karen’s room with several friends and family. We were all talking, thinking of names (ALL the names we came up with…) and all of a sudden the monitor tracking Cooper’s heartbeat went silent. Everyone in the room froze as the nurse ran in and tried to find it again. She kindly asked us all to step out of the room. Not 10 minutes after that we heard the news that Cooper was here…and he was breathing! That was the first miracle. A baby born at 24 weeks. 16 weeks early. He was breathing and alive! It was a very happy time, but also very scary.
I remember standing out in the hallway outside of her room… Just waiting to hear what was happening. Then all of a sudden…just like in the movies, Cooper was wheeled out in his incubator. There were at least 6 doctors and nurses around him. There was a lot of talking and yelling, and people pumping and directing… They went by as fast as they could to get him into the NICU. We could not even see him in there because he was so small.
I remember seeing him for the first time. About 2 am the next morning. It was amazing. It was incredible…. He was such a tiny little thing. So fragile, his skin was red, and almost see through. He would have fit in the palm of your hand. At 1 pound and 5 ounces, he was a miracle of God. The journey had only begun…. but you know the story. {

There were ups and downs, but with your prayers, support, the fabulous nurses and doctors and the simple miracle that our amazing God performed… Cooper Grayson is turning ONE today. He is healthy, happy…crawling and doing amazing!

God bless the little child behind the plastic wall
For all he knows is the ringing of the bells and
the blurred images around him. He has been taken
from my womb without warning and I long to hold him
in my arms.
Lord, I ask in your name that my child be healed.
I am willing to accept your decision no matter what
it will be. I am willing to take on the responsibilities
for caring for this child. I am willing to give this
child love and understanding no matter the cost.
Please Lord help me to accept reality and what has
happened without explanation or warning. Help me
face the fact that this is not my fault and that
I was given a special task to complete here on Earth.
God give my child the strength to make it through another
second, minute, hour and day as each moment is
a blessing and a triumph from heaven.
God, may you give the strength and compassion
to the caregivers and nurses that take care of my child
May you keep my child protected and free from all injury
and pain.
Please take away the guilt and burden from my heart dear
Lord. It is heavy and I feel it is all my fault.
Take it away dear Lord. Sweet Jesus allow me the stregnth
and understanding I need to communicate with the Doctors
and Nurses.
As you see dear Lord, I am at your mercy for the life of
my child. Please leave him here on Earth and know that
I will provide all the love and understanding that
this child needs. I accept the challenge and will be
your humble servant dear Lord.
Prayer #2
Dear God,
I have a request to make.
Just a moment of your time it will take.
You see, my parents, are heartbroken and sad,
and they have prayed to you with all they had.
Could you just hug them and remind them you care,
as they are wishing I was at home, not here.
This time is confusing, unlike how they pictured it would be,
But I want them to know that you take care of me.
Although I am sleeping in this little bed,
and I am often too tired to raise my little head,
please remind them that I know they did their very best.
And that at night I am protected as I sleep upon your chest.
They think I am so lonely when they are away,
and if I could tell them, I would say
“I know this is hard, and God understands,
But just know He has never let go of my hand.
He is always with me, like He is with you,
and all this has a purpose too.”
And God, while I am in this temporary N.I.C.U. home,
I just want them to know I have never been alone.

Dear God, as you look down upon us,
We know that you might have to squint.
We’re located here in the NICU
It’s the nursery that we rent.
There are many alarms and sirens,
Connected to condos and flats.
The nurses tape our booties on,
And dress us in funny hats.
We have a lot in common;
All of us were in a hurry.
For many different reasons,
Our storks came a little early.
Some of us don’t know why,
We bursted out from our bubbles.
We entered into this world,
Never meaning to cause any troubles.
Mommy and Daddy are worried sick
About the odds that we must beat.
Please God, help them to realize,
That seeing us grow is a treat.
Breath by breath, we’ll learn to breathe.

You, Lord, are the Great Healer.
