Prayer for protection while traveling

Unless we avail ourselves within the protective arms of our God, we leave ourselves vulnerable to the attacks of the evil one. We must be diligent in reading God’s word, and ask Him to watch over and protect us individually, as well as His children. When you pray for yourself, pray for those you love, those you have never met, and even those who have hurt you in some way. 

Let it be known that with God, all things are possible. Not some things, ALL things. When we feel afraid in life, ask for His protection and safety. Our Father does not desert His children. These prayers of protection are offered as a way to preempt those attacks and keep oneself and one’s loved ones under the protection of God at all times.

If the need for protection whether in your own life, or in the life of someone you love is present, let us pray for you at the holiest place on earth, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. We have faith that sending your prayer request to the place where our Lord Jesus Christ gave his life for us will help your request be granted! It is our honor and privilege to be a part of your prayer warrior, and to ask the Lord to watch over you, protect you, and keep you, always. 

The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; thou saved me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Prayer for Protection from Illness

Heavenly Father, I adore you and I love you with all my heart and soul. I thank you for having created me, and for watching over me in all that I do, every single day. Pardon me for my sins. I ask that you watch over me while I rest and recover from illness. Please protect my body, and help me heal from this sickness that weakens me. May your unending grace be with me forever and ever. I trust in all that You do, and all that You are. 

Prayer for Divine Protection

Grant me, O Lord, your protection. Within your protection, strength. And within your strength, understanding. And within your understanding, knowledge. And within your knowledge, the power of justice. And within the power of justice, the love of all of Creation. Guide and protect my body, my mind, and my best judgment in all things. For you, O Lord, will never leave my side. In this I trust. Amen.

Prayer for Protection Through Life’s Journey

In the name of God I move forth through life’s journey. May God the Father always be with me, God the Son protect and watch over me, and God the Holy Ghost to stand by my side as I travel through the life you have given me. Amen 

Prayer for Protection While Traveling

I ask that God’s Angels guard and keep you. As you travel, may you remain safe and secure, with His presence known to you at all times. May He watch over you as you leave home, wandering and maneuvering in other parts of God’s great earth. You are not alone. For He is always with you. Amen.

Prayer for Protection Over Your Family

Heavenly Father, I pray for your emotional, physical, and spiritual protection over my family and loved ones. I ask You to keep evil far away from them, and to help them to trust You as their refuge and strength in all things, without ceasing. I pray You will guard their minds from harmful instruction and sinful ways, and to grant them discernment to recognize the truth. I pray that You will make them strong and if they find themselves amist danger, recognizing that You have overcome and will set right all injustice and wrong. Please help them to find rest in your shadow, and through your everlasting embrace, as they live in the spiritual shelter You provide for them. Let them know that the only safe place is in beside their Heavenly Father, and that their home on earth is only temporary. 

Prayer for Personal Protection

Oh Heavenly Father, I come to You today, bowing my head and opening my heart, asking for protection from all the evil this world holds. Lord, we are assailed moment by moment with images on television, the internet, books and newspapers that leave us vulnerable to sin of every kind, every single day. Surround us with your divine hedge of unbreakable protection. Encompass us round about with your strength and your glorious might. Let all who take refuge in You be happy and feel safe. Please shelter us, Heavenly Father, that those who love your name may exalt in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man and those who give their lives to You.

QUAERITUR:

I ride a Vespa PX150 around town as it’s quick and cheap to run. When I start the scooter each time I recite the Apostles’ Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary and Gloria while the engine is warming. Then I am right to go. I was wondering if you knew of a prayer (preferably in Latin) I could say after the earlier prayers for protection during my journey.

I have been an avid reader/follower from WDTPRS almost from its inception and I think you are doing a wonderful work for the Church all over the world. God bless you.

There is a time honored prayer used when making a journey. It is a tad long for a short scoot, but… hey! You asked for Latin prayer before using your Vespa, and that’s what I’m going to provide. You can find the classic Itinerarium HERE.

This Itinerarium was a prayer used especially by those starting out on a pilgrimage. All pilgrimages are journeys but not all journeys are pilgrimages. Still, every time you cross the threshold to travel somewhere, you are striking out into the unknown, where your life’s end might come more quickly than if you had stayed at home.

Perhaps you could use just one of the several prayers in the Itinerarium:

Deus, qui filios Israel per maris medium sicco vestigio ire fecisti, quique tribus Magis iter ad te stella duce pandisti, tribue nobis quaesumus iter prosperum tempusque tranquillum: ut, Angelo tuo sancto comite, ad eum quo pergimus locum, ac demum ad aeternae salutis portum pervenire feliciter valeamus.

O God, who madest the children of Israel to walk with dry feet through the midst of the sea, and who didst open unto the three wise men, by the guiding of a star, the way that led unto Thee, grant us good speed, and quietness: may thy holy Angel accompany us during our pilgrimage and in the end, may we attain the haven of eternal salvation.

Or else one of the prayers from the Rituale for the Blessing of a Vehicle (making the sign of the cross over yourself, not the bike):

Protection for Travel

Father, today, in Jesus’ name, I confess Your Word over my travel plans and know that Your Word does not go out and return to You void, but it accomplishes what You say it will do. I give You thanks for moving quickly to perform Your Word and fulfill its promises.
As I prepare to travel, I rejoice in the promises that Your Word holds for protection and safety of the righteous. Only You, Father, make me live in safety. I trust in You and dwell in Your protection. If I shall face any problems or trouble, I will run to You, Father, my Strong Tower and Shelter in time of need. Believing in the written Word of God, I speak peace, safety and success over my travel plans, in Jesus’ name.
As a child of God, my path of travel is preserved, and angels keep charge over me and surround my car/airplane/
ship. I will proceed with my travel plans without fear of accidents, problems or any type of frustrations. I have the peace of God and will allow fear no place as I travel; the Lord delivers me from every type of evil and preserves me for His Kingdom. I stand, confident that my travel plans will not be disrupted or confused.
Thank You, Father, that in every situation You are there to protect me. No matter in what means of transportation I choose to travel, You have redeemed me and will protect me. The earth and all things on it are under Your command. You are my Heavenly Father. Through my faith in You, I have the power to tread on serpents and have all power over the enemy. No food or water will harm me when I arrive at my destination. My travel is safe.
Father, I give You the glory in this situation. Thank You that as I keep Your ways before me, I will be safe. Your mercy is upon me and my family, and our travels will be safe. Not a hair on our heads shall perish. Thank You, Father, for Your guidance and safety — You are worthy of all praise! Amen.

Heavenly Father, today I lift my hands to the heavens in adoration to You for who You are. You alone are God, Lord God Almighty, King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

I call out to You because You deserve all the honor, glory and praise. I pray travelling mercies while on this trip I am about to take.

Psalm 23:4 Though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Father, due to the envy and strife I have faced because of this journey, I pray that You take care of every obstacle that may try to deter me.

You already know the destination Lord and the challenges I face. So I pray that Your Army of Angels will go before me and make every crooked path straight, for You are in control and know the way of the righteous.

I will be kept covered by the Blood

Heavenly Father, I will trust You, and I have faith to believe that I will be kept covered by the blood of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ.

I can make this trip because of Your everlasting love. You are my refuge and my fortress and I declare that I will be kept safe.

Psalm 4:8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Committing this journey into His hands

No accident or incident can befall me because You are the lamp unto my feet and the light unto my path.

You have given me a sound mind and wisdom to listen to Your still small voice within me. In the name of Jesus, I commit this journey into Your hands, SO BE IT… Amen and Amen!
