Prayer for letting go of a relationship

Bible Verses about Letting go of a Relationship, Letting go of Bad Relationships, Letting go of Relationships or Bad Friends, Letting go of Past Relationships, Ending Relationships, Letting go of Love or Someone you Love – Encouraging Scripture Quotes. Explore Inspirational, Thought Provoking, Comforting & Encouraging Bible Verses, Scriptures, Quotes and Passages about letting go of a relationship, bad relationships, past relationships, love, bad friends, and toxic relationships. What the Bible says about letting go of relationships that do not edify or that do not glorify God, e.g. romantic relationships with toxic people, bad company, & ending relationships with bad friends who influence you negatively, demoralize you and draw you away from God.

I pray and trust that God will continually help us to grow in consistently loving one another very deeply, in encouraging one another, in patience, forgiveness, and kindness, and also to know when to let go and not put ourselves in a position where our values are compromised because of a bad relationship, and consequently, our relationship with God becomes shaky, going in a downward spiral. God forbid!

Letting go of a relationship does not mean you are letting go of love, or that you don’t love someone anymore. Ending a relationship by Letting go doesn’t mean we will (or should) stop caring about a person, and it doesn’t mean we should be unkind, gossip about them, be overcome with anger, bitterness and unforgiveness, or never talk to a person again. This is also not to say that we should not maintain healthy and value building friendships and non romantic relationships with non Christians – Absolutely not. How else would we draw others in our sphere of influence to God? So yes, relationships are great and can bring about a lot of good, but our prayer is that we will always influence others for Christ, not the other way around. May our lives always be a living witness for Christ. May God continually minister His truths to each one of us, so we may know how to wisely deal with each situation we encounter, always seeking God’s Approval, Pleasing God & Putting God First, always Honoring & Glorifying God, and always Trusting God’s Plan for our lives. Amen.

Come and be with us, Lord, for only You can make two broken hearts understand each other. You are the King of Peace and I know You are able to change any sad situation in my life.

Father, I know it is Your will that we should lead a loving and peaceful life with one another. Hear me, dear god, to fill us both with more love and to understand each other better to bring unity to our relationship. Help me become more understand to my partner’s needs and feelings.

Grant me wisdom that I may know how to deal with this unlikely situation so I can build a house in Your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, O Lord. Amen.

prayer for letting go of a relationship

Letting go is scary. Letting go means letting go of control. No one wants to be out of control. But you can’t control everything. You can’t control outcomes. You have to let it go.

Letting go means trusting God. The outcome is in God’s hands. God knows every situation and what is on every person’s heart. The sooner you let go and let God handle a challenge or problems, the sooner you will feel lighter.

My friend Jill Farmer is the author of There’s Not Enough Time and Other Lies We Tell Ourselves. She talks about to-do lists and having a God’s to-do list. I love that! When we let go, we turn our struggle and worries over to God. We put that on his to-do list. (Side note: My to-do list for God is getting longer and longer!)

Holding onto past hurts, past mistakes, anxious and fearful thoughts, etc. clutters your mind and spirit. You can become a prisoner of your own thoughts.

Romans 12:2 urges us to, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

2 Corinthians 3:17 tells us that, “The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”

You can’t experience freedom if anxious, obsessive, fearful thoughts clutter your mind. Letting go and letting God’s loving Spirit fill your heart and mind will set you free.

A Prayer for Letting Go

Dear God,

In this moment, I let go of all thoughts and concerns.

When I let go, I am able to receive.

When my hands are formed into tight fists, I cannot open my hands to receive anything.

When I hang onto tight control,

When I close off my heart and my spirit,

I cannot receive your blessings for me.

I let go to receive your blessings.

Letting go in this moment, I receive your loving presence around me and within me.

Help me to let go when I am feeling overwhelmed, so that I may receive your peace.

Help me to let go when I feel fear so that in fear’s place I may receive love and courage.

I let go of problems and challenges in order to receive your guidance and clarity.

I let go and trust you.

I will not fall.

You will catch me.

I let go and trust in the still, small voice inside of me.

Help me not to struggle but to surrender my struggle to you.

I gladly receive this gift of letting go and letting you lead me and guide me.

Amen

(I speak from a lifetime of experience in letting go. Read my letting go story.)

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your grace which You so generously, and continuously, bless us with. You are worthy of all praise and all glory.

I lift my hands in humble worship and adoration. Bless and empower my words and thoughts today, O Lord that they may be pleasing to you, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Romans 12:9-10 Don’t just pretend that You love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.

1 Peter 4:8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

Guide and direct our relationship

I pray that You continue to guide our footsteps and our lives as we walk in agreement, according to Your will.

I trust that our new relationship is a blessing from You, O Lord and I pray that You guide us and show us what we need to know.

Open the eyes of my heart, Father God, and reveal anything that is not of You. May I not go into this relationship love-blind but rather spirit-wise.

Proverbs 13:20  He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”

Draw us closer

Bless our relationship and draw us both even closer to You and to your will for our lives. May I never be unequally yoked.

Lord, teach and guide us that we will always seek You first in everything we do.  May our love be fill with genuine affection and may we honor each other at all times.

1 Peter 3:7 In the same way, You husbands must give honor to Your wives. Treat her with understanding as You live together. She may be weaker than You are, but she is Your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. If You don’t treat her as You should, Your prayers will not be heard.

Proverbs 31:10,11 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is worth more than precious rubies. Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life.

Bond us together

Bless our lives in our journey together and fill us with Your Glory. May we be bonded together, Lord, in the type of love Your Son Jesus showed on the cross.

Let our lives be a wonderful reflection of Your grace, as we abide in it forever. In Jesus’ name, I humbly pray, Amen.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
