Prayer for deliverance from alcohol

Heavenly Father I come to you now in Jesus’ name, to repent of all the sins in my life and also in the lives of my ancestors, that may have resulted in a curse. I repent of all disobedience, rebellion, mistreatment of others, lying, cheating, using or slandering your name in vain. I repent of all perversion, lust, incest, fornication, adultery, idolatry, all witchcraft, murder, and any occult involvement.

Heavenly Father, I ask for your forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus I now take the authority you have given me and ask that you anoint me now as I command all demonic spirits of anger, rage, fear, depression, destruction, torment, guilt, bondage, vagabond, rejection, unforgiveness, bitterness, mind-control, double-mindedness, confusion, passivity, sickness, diseases, pain, fetter and all addictions to food, alcohol, drugs, sex, pornography, gambling, or nicotine to come out in the name of Jesus.

No demonic spirit is welcome in this holy temple!

I break all spoken curse and spells that may have been performed over my life and any curses resulting from involvement with Ouija board, Psychics, tarot cards, Horoscopes, secular music, or through TV, movies or pornography.

I break all curses off my family, marriage, children and relatives. I break every shackle, chain, cord, habit, craving, debt, soul-ties and any spirit that has tried to rob, kill, or destroy my life.

I command my family to be set free. I break every demonic assignment over my family. Satan, loose them now! In Jesus’ name! According to Galations 3:13, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I am now God’s child and through my Lord Jesus, I am able to cast down all demonic powers and spirits that come against me or in my family’s lives.

I am not cursed, but blessed! I am blessed coming in and blessed going out. I am above and not beneath. I am the head and not the tail. I am blessed and what God has blessed cannot be cursed. I am free, and I am saved. I have now exercised my faith and know that confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9,10). All of my sins have been remitted, and I am loosed from the curse that came as a result of disobedience and rebellion to the Word of God.

Thank you Heavenly Father, thank you Lord Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit for forgiving me and loving me. Thank you for setting me free from every curse and spirit that has operated in my life. Father God, I pray for discernment and for a new vision to help me recognize and resist all evil and all fleshly, worldly ways. I am anointed through the Lord Jesus Christ, and I thank you Jesus for your guidance and discipline as I continue to be a victorious soldier and holy child. AMEN.

According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency, over 17.7 million people in the

USA or 1 in 12 adults suffer from addiction to alcoholism or participate regularly in binge drinking.

That’s a staggering sum and it means that you must know someone who suffers from Alcoholism.  These figures are in the USA and we know that there are many suffering alcoholics all over the world.

There are 12 steps program established to assist people in how to stop drinking.  While these programs have some success the programs show only a 3% success rate.  Then there are those known as the dry drunks who have not had a drink in years but still suffer from the effects of alcoholism even after they’ve discovered how to successfully quit drinking.

Why is this?  Well, as Christians we know that we cannot do ANYTHING successfully without the help of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who is our helper.  He is the only one that can truly heal us from disease.  His name is Jehovah Rophe the God who heals.  And, given these statistics we know that there must be Christian alcoholics.

The tenets, the 12 steps of alcoholics anonymous and 12 traditions, are good and do have a focus in ‘spirituality’ but usually people just focus on who they want to be their spiritual leader so it could be anyone and not necessarily Jesus.

Here are the steps taken from Wikipedia and edited to make Jesus Christ the main focus since He is our Savior as Christians and the one we look to for help and wholeness

  1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.
  2. Came to believe that a Jesus Christ can restore us to sanity.
  3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care Jesus Christ.
  4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
  5. Admitted to Jesus Christ, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
  6. Were entirely ready to have Jesus Christ remove all these defects of character.
  7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
  8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
  9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
  10. Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
  11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our relationship with Jesus Christ, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the Holy Spirit’s power to carry that out.
  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

When we understand who Jesus Christ is and why He came to earth we can have a better understanding of how His power is all we need to be successful in overcoming alcoholism and any other type of addiction.  To learn more about having a relationship with Jesus Christ, click here

In AA, they use a big book which is used to help their member through the recovery process.  In Christianity, we too have our Big Book which is the Bible.  Alcoholics need this to help with their recovery.  Reading the bible is important in the meditation process

When we believe and we have a full understanding that God’s word is truly medicine for our soul and has the power to heal us then we can take this medicine in daily and receive the healing, freedom and recovery that we need on a daily basis.

If you presently struggling with alcoholism or know someone who is, we would like to share some scriptures with you.  These are not to beat you over the head to tell you how bad alcoholism is (we’re sure you already know that) but to help you in your recovery and restoration process.  God is a God of restoration.  He wants you to be restored. To be healed 100% so that you can live the life that He purposed in you BEFORE you were even born.

Here are some scriptures that will help those who are suffering from Alcoholism:

(Ephesians 5:18) “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit” Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit

(Romans 12:1-2) “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Surrender your  life to God. Read the Bible daily and His word will transform your mind which will in turn transform your life! He will make known to you the purpose and will that He has for your life.  Yes, God has a purpose for you!

(Galatians 5:13) “For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” Serve Others. Stop focusing on yourself and look for others that you can help.

(Ephesians 5:18-20) “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” When you feel weak, Praise God!  Sing and worship Him.  In the midst of your struggle He will show up and deliver you.

(1 John 1:9) “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When you commit a sin, ask God to forgive you.  Accept that He has forgiven you, if you truly meant it when you asked, and move on.  Self loathing, shame and guilt is not from God so REJECT those thoughts because that would be the devil talking to you!

(James 4:7) “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” When you feel weak, fall on your knees and cry out to God and He will save you from these temptations.  Submit to God first and then this evil will be removed from you.

(2 Samuel 22:2, 20) “And he said: “The Lordis my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me.” Make the Lord Jesus your main focus.  He is your deliverer and He want to bring you into a greater life which He has planned for you, because He LOVES you.

(Matthew 17:20-21) “I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” God wants you to know that will just a little faith if you rebuke that demon of addiction you can remove it.  You may need to fast along with praying to be free of this.  Ask other Christians to pray and fast for you as well.

(2 Corinthians 5:17) “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”When you become a Christian, God made you a new creation so everything that was broken in your life before is now made whole.  All you need to do is access the wholeness that is already yours through prayer and meditation on the scriptures.

(1 John 5:4) “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”  Jesus overcame the world so that you, because of your belief in Him, will also overcome this addiction.

For those of you who came from parents who were also alcoholics or perhaps while you were in the whom your mother was abusing alcohol, you may have an issue with a generational curse that needs to be broken.  Here is some information on

breaking generational curses

.

In AA they have different prayers through each step, 3rd step prayer, fourth step prayer, 7th step prayer, etc.  We feel that this one will encompass all the steps. Here is a prayer against alcoholism

Father God, I humbly come before you crying out for help from this addiction to alcohol.  I’ve seen so many lives ruined by this disease. I too have hurt others in going through this process.  First I ask you to forgive me.  I also ask you for the grace and strength to ask others to forgive me. Reveal to me all the people that I need to ask for forgiveness and I pray that you will work on their hearts so that they will accept my apology. Please don’t let me be a part of the statistics that have tried and failed.  Weed out the root of unbelief from my heart and give me that grain of mustard seed faith that will believe that if I say to this mountain of addiction be cast into the sea, it will be removed from me.  I speak to this demon of addiction and I say be removed from me.  I have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus and born again as a new creation in Christ Jesus. I bow my knees, my spirit, my will to Jehovah Rophe my healer and my God of miracles.  Just as Jesus overcame the world and the things of this world, I too will overcome this illness.  Jesus , intercede on my behalf in heaven in the areas of my life where I don’t know how to pray.  You have given me authority to trample upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm me, including alcohol, so I trample upon it.  I will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony which I will have as a result of this great miraculous deliverance!  I thank you for being my deliverer.  I submit and surrender my life to you.  I ask you God to renew my mind with Your Word.  Restore me to the joy of your salvation.  Holy Spirit direct my steps.  Show me the people and places in my life where I need to stay away from while you are healing me and restoring me.  Lead me to the right church and Christian friends who can support me in this journey, in Jesus Name, Amen

We know that you will need to have some support as you are going through this process so you will need to

find a church

where you can be accountable to other believers in Christ and a pastor.  Also, getting in an

AA group

or calling one of the

AA numbers

for guidance will help you through the process.  Just remember that your focus is Jesus Christ, prayer and His word.  This is what will keep you on the road to recovery.

We hope these tips for alcoholism helped you in some way and if you want to include your name in the comment section below we would be happy to pray for you.

A word to Christians who don’t suffer from alcoholism but have friends who are in recovery.  Do not drink alcohol around them.  It’s just disrespectful and it does not honor God.  And, it doesn’t matter if they have been clean and sober for 20 years! Show your support and refrain from drinking alcohol in their presence. (1 Corinthians 8:9) “But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak.”

Praying against Depression and how to cope

I just had another real good story called in once more showing the unbelievable power of Pleading the Blood of Jesus against something specific.

A woman I used to work with called this in. When she first told me about it, I had no intentions on passing this story around due to the very personal nature of what had occurred in it. However, after she told me what just happened, she literally asked that I pass this on to the rest of you.

She said if this story could help others who may be having the same type of problem she was, that she would be all for releasing this story, as it once more dramatically shows the power of intercessory prayer, especially when combined with Pleading of the Blood of Jesus against something specific that you want taken out.

Here is her story and how fast God answered her prayer.

The Testimony

About 6 months ago she told me her marriage was in trouble and that she was thinking about at least separating from her husband. I had met her husband several times and he is a really nice guy and they seemed to be very compatible. The news of her marriage being in trouble really shocked me.

She then proceeded to tell me that the source of their marital problems was that her husband had been abusing alcohol for the last 8 years and things were going from bad to worse. It was really starting to affect his health. He was starting to prematurely age and his entire family was really starting to worry about him. They were all afraid he was literally going to die.

He apparently had been suffering from unexplainable, panic-anxiety attacks and started drinking to try to alleviate these panic attacks. The alcohol obviously did not work and just made things worse. This woman had been trying to get him to go to counseling but he would not do it. She said her husband is a very proud man and does not like to admit defeat or weakness in anything. He is also a real outdoorsman and literally cannot stand to be cooped up inside for too long of a period of time.

I think he was afraid to go to counseling for fears that the doctor would want to have him admitted for the alcoholism. One of his doctors had him on some medication to try and alleviate the panic attacks but the medication was not working. With the medication not working to alleviate the panic attacks, with him being too proud to admit defeat to go to any type of counseling, and the abuse of the alcohol continuing on an everyday basis, my friend was at her wits end and did not know what else she could do to stop all of this.

When she first told me about this 6 months ago, I told her if all else fails on trying to get him to counseling – to try “standing in the gap” for him with God, Plead the Blood of Jesus against the alcoholism and any demons who might be behind the scenes influencing him to continue to drink, and then to ask God to move into the situation to break this addiction off him and to get him cleaned up so she would not lose her marriage over it.

I told her that since her husband had no real working knowledge about spiritual warfare and how to use it in a real life combat situation – that God would honor her standing in the gap for him and that she could go on the “offensive” by Pleading the Blood of Jesus directly against the alcoholism. I told her to do it in secret, that she did not have to tell him that she was going to pray for him.

Six months had gone by and with there being no improvement on this situation, she decided to try and Plead the Blood of Jesus directly against his abuse of alcohol to see if God would move in with His deliverance power to get him to clean up his act and set him free from this horrible addiction. Here is what happened after she went into the gap for her husband.

They were set to go out of town on a vacation on a Monday afternoon. My friend decides to pray and Plead the Blood against the alcoholism the night before on a Sunday night. She went ahead and Pleaded the Blood and asked God to move into the situation to set her husband completely free from the alcohol.

The next morning on that Monday, they were sitting at the breakfast table. They were due to leave for their vacation that afternoon. Then all of a sudden her husband looks at her and asks her if she really wanted to go out of town on this vacation. He then proceeds to tell her that he has better things to do than to go on this vacation.

My friend then tells him that this vacation will probably do him good and that he needs a break from all of the work that he does. She then asked him what else does he have better to do than to go on this needed vacation.

He then looks straight at her and says that he knows that he has a real problem with his drinking and that he now wants to do something about it before he loses his marriage with her. He then proceeds to tell her that he would be willing to have himself checked in and have the doctors and counselors work with him!

My friend said she just about fell out of her chair. She had been pleading with this man over the last 8 years to get professional help and he would not do it. She then goes on the offensive, Pleads the Blood of Jesus one time, and then asks God to move in on the situation. Twelve hours later, her husband all of a sudden has a complete change of heart about the entire matter, decides he really does have a drinking problem and that he does need professional help.

Mind you, her husband is a very proud man, does not like to admit defeat or weakness in anything, and cannot stand the thought of being locked up for any length of time. By having himself admitted to an alcohol rehab center, he knows he is going to be locked up for at least 4-6 days. All of this goes against his normal behavior patterns.

That is the typical length of stay at a rehabilitation center, while some centers even offer longer treatment periods.

Within 12 hours after his wife Pleads the Blood of Jesus against his alcoholism – this man all of a sudden has a complete change of mind on his drinking problem and is completely willing to have himself checked in, when over the last 8 years he had refused to accept any type of help. Coincidence? I don’t think so. This complete turnabout within 12 hours shows how fast God can move on certain situations.

My friend then proceeds to have him admitted to an alcohol treatment center. He was in there for 6 days and had no physical withdrawal from coming completely off the alcohol. After he gets out, he tells his wife that he does not want to lose her over his drinking problem and that he will try and defeat it. He said he saw quite a few people in the treatment center that had completely lost everything as a result of their drinking – their families, their marriages, their jobs and all of their friends.

He felt like God was showing him that this was the road that he was traveling on and that if he did not clean up his act, that he too would lose everything like some of these people had done.

He has had no drinks since he has come home from this 6-day stay. However, he did tell his wife that the desire for the alcohol was still there and that he was still tempted to want to drink. I told her the next step is to Plead the Blood of Jesus directly against the desire to drink. God has to take out the desire for the alcohol. If He does not, then her husband will continue to battle his temptations to drink and could easily slip back into it.

When God completely delivers someone from alcohol or drug abuse, He usually takes out the desire for the drugs or alcohol. Testimony after testimony from people who have been set free from drugs or alcohol all say the same thing – that when God delivers them from their addictions, He totally takes out their desire for the alcohol or drugs. If He didn’t, the temptation would be too great and too strong and many of these people would fall back into their addictions.

Hopefully, this powerful move by God will stick and he will not go back to his drinking. I feel if my friend Pleads the Blood directly against the desire for the alcohol, then God will finish what He started and will have completely set this man free from his abuse of alcohol that had been going on for the last 8 years.

Again, another powerful and dramatic testimony once more showing how powerful Pleading the Blood of Jesus can be if you are willing to go on the offensive with it like this woman did.
