Prayer for accepting jesus christ

Prayer of Salvation – Our First Real Conversation With God
The “prayer of salvation” is the most important prayer we’ll ever pray. When we’re ready to become a Christian, we’re ready to have our first real conversation with God, and these are its components:

  • We acknowledge that Jesus Christ is God; that He came to earth as a man in order to live the sinless life that we cannot live; that He died in our place, so that we would not have to pay the penalty we deserve.
  • We confess our past life of sin — living for ourselves and not obeying God.
  • We admit we are ready to trust Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.
  • We ask Jesus to come into our heart, take up residence there, and begin living through us.

Prayer of Salvation – It Begins With Faith in God
When we pray the prayer of salvation, we’re letting God know we believe His Word is true. By the faith He has given us, we choose to believe in Him. The Bible tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

So, when we pray, asking God for the gift of salvation, we’re exercising our free will to acknowledge that we believe in Him. That demonstration of faith pleases God, because we have freely chosen to know Him.

Prayer of Salvation – Confessing Our Sin
When we pray the prayer of salvation, we’re admitting that we’ve sinned. As the Bible says of everyone, save Christ alone: “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

To sin is simply to fall short of the mark, as an arrow that does not quite hit the bull’s-eye. The glory of God that we fall short of is found only in Jesus Christ: “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).

The prayer of salvation, then, recognizes that Jesus Christ is the only human who ever lived without sin. “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Prayer of Salvation – Professing Faith in Christ as Savior and Lord
With Christ as our standard of perfection, we’re now acknowledging faith in Him as God, agreeing with the Apostle John that: “In the beginning was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:1-3).

Because God could only accept a perfect, sinless sacrifice, and because He knew that we could not possibly accomplish that, He sent His Son to die for us and pay the eternal price. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

Prayer of Salvation – Say It & Mean It Now!
Do you agree with everything you have read so far? If you do, don’t wait a moment longer to start your new life in Jesus Christ. Remember, this prayer is not a magical formula. You are simply expressing your heart to God. Pray this with us:

Prayer of Salvation – I’ve Prayed It; Now What?
If you’ve prayed this prayer of salvation with true conviction and heart, you are now a follower of Jesus. This is a fact, whether or not you feel any different. Religious systems may have led you to believe that you should feel something – a warm glow, a tingle, or some other mystical experience. The fact is, you may, or you may not. If you have prayed the prayer of salvation and meant it, you are now a follower of Jesus. The Bible tells us that your eternal salvation is secure! “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Welcome to the family of God! We encourage you now to find a local church where you can be baptized and grow in the knowledge of God through His Word, the Bible.

    God

, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him.

    Jesus

We have all sinned and fallen short. The wages of sin is death. But God gives us the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, his son. God loves us so very much. God send his son to die for our salvation. Jesus Christ paid our debt and took our place. No matter what our past, no matter where we’re coming from, when we accept Jesus, we start afresh. All our sins are washed away. To accept Jesus as our savior, we must acknowledge that we have sinned and confess with our mouths that He is Lord. We should continue to fellowship with God and with other believers (e.g. through church, fellowship, youth group, Bible study etc), studying God’s word, learning more about him, and walking with God. When we believe in God and accept him, we become children of God. God loves us and longs to have a continually growing personal relationship with us. We can go to him anytime, anywhere.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (KJV)

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (KJV)

Proverbs 16:25 “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” (NKJV)

Romans 3:22 “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” (NLT)

John 1:12 “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” (NLT)

Acts 16:30b,31 “…what must I do to be saved? So they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…” (KJV)

John 3:15 -17 “…That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (KJV)

Romans 5:6-15 “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.” (NKJV)

Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (NKJV)

Acts 17:30-31 “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” (NKJV)

Romans 10:9-10 “…because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (ESV)

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (ESV)

Matthew 10:32 -33 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” (KJV)

1 Cor 15:3-4 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (ESV)

Acts 2:38-39 “Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (KJV)

Hebrews 10:10 “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (NIV)

1 John 1:3 -10 “We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.” (NLT)

1 John 2:1-7 “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard.” (NIV)

1 John 5: 10-13 “The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.

And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (NASB)

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks will find; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.” ~KJV Ad.

Col 2:13-14 “You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.” (NLT)

1 John 4:9-11 “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (NIV)

    Psalm 119:11
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (KJV)

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ that lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” ~ KJV Ad.

    Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (KJV)

John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them he gave the power to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (KJV)

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (KJV)

    Job 19:25-27
“For I know that my Redeemer lives,
    And He shall stand at last on the earth;

And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my flesh I shall see God,

Whom I shall see for myself,
And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!” (NIV)

Acts 16:30b,31 “…what must I do to be saved? So they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…” (KJV)

John 1:12 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (ESV)

Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)

What’s your Choice – Life or Death?

Deutoronomy 30:11 – 20a “This command I am giving you today is not too difficult for you to understand, and it is not beyond your reach. It is not kept in heaven, so distant that you must ask, ‘Who will go up to heaven and bring it down so we can hear it and obey?’ It is not kept beyond the sea, so far away that you must ask, ‘Who will cross the sea to bring it to us so we can hear it and obey?’ No, the message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart so that you can obey it.

Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy.

But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.” (NLT)

Congratulations – Welcome to the Family of God!
This is a decision you will not regret. I pray that the joy and peace of God will continue to dwell in your heart. I pray that you will get closer to God everyday, you will know him more and become more and more like him. I pray your life will always be full of God’s peace, hope, love, joy and purpose. Just keep on trusting him. God is always there for you. Please, don’t ever forget how much God loves you. No matter what you’re going through, He is there.

Follow up your decision with the following:
    1. Regularly spend time talking (praying) to God and reading his word, found in The Bible, each day. Pray for wisdom and understanding as you read, and ask God to show you how to please him and be more like him. Remember Jesus is your new best friend – please keep in touch with him. Our Daily Bread is a free daily devotional I highly recommend. It is available for free by mail, email, online or on your mobile device.

    2. Connect with a local church where you can fellowship with other believers, worship God, and by God’s grace get to know God more. Tell someone else that you have accepted Jesus into your life.

    3. Seek out a small group of fellow Christians you can hang out with regularly. Most churches will have small groups, life groups, cell groups or Bible Study groups – find one that you can join. It could also be outside the church, for instance you may decide to regularly fellowship with a few of your Christian friends. These people will support you, encourage you, and will answer any questions you might have. And you will by God’s grace have a lot of fun in the process!

    4. It would be wonderful to find an Accountability Partner. Pray for God to show you the right person. Someone you trust and can open up to, who would encourage you as well as lovingly challenge you if you are going the wrong way. Read more about Accountability here.

    5. Get Baptized – Any Christian/Follower of Jesus can Baptize you.

    6. Rely on God to show you how to live every day. You have now begun a relationship with God and you are an ambassador for Christ. Don’t forget to live accordingly. God will show you how to continually live in a way that will glorify him. The more you get to know God, the more in love with him you will become.

    7. Please, don’t forget to share your faith with others – with God’s help and by His grace! Let us spread the good news as followers of Jesus Christ, as we are commissioned to do! Ask God to help you to be an ambassador of Jesus Christ everywhere you go – even in your everyday life, in all you say and do.

1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” (ESV)

John 3:17 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (ESV)

People often ask, “What makes Jesus different from all the other religious leaders who ever lived?”

The Bible-God’s authoritative word-makes it very clear that Jesus was more than just another religious teacher or prophet. It tells us instead that Jesus was unique.

How was Jesus unique? First, He was unique in His person. He wasn’t just an unusually spiritual individual. He was more than that; He was God in human flesh. Yes, He was fully man, but He was also fully God. The Bible puts it this way: “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). This is what we celebrate at Christmas-God coming to earth in the form of a man.

Second, Jesus was unique in His purpose. Why did He come to earth? He came for one reason: to save us from our sins. As Jesus Himself said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). He did this by becoming the final sacrifice for our sins through His death on the cross.

We know His promise of eternal life is true because He did something no other person has ever done: He rose from the dead-what we call the resurrection-and still lives today. We invite you to look at Jesus as He is presented in the pages of the New Testament-and then to commit your life to Him.
