Heavenly Father, we praise You and we thank You for the gift of our mothers, through whom You give us life and through whom we experience love. We thank You for Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, a mother so gracious and a woman of example in motherhood for all of us.

Psalm 127 : 3 “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward”

Lord Jesus Christ, we pray and we lift up all mothers today, believers and non believers alike in Your name. Motherhood is a beautiful journey, caring and nurturing a life from God and seeing it grow into a part of humanity.

We pray that mothers today everywhere do take a moment to think of this beautiful and gracious gift from God in their livelihood.

Proverbs 31:25- 27 “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness”

We thank our mothers, giving thanks for all the pain, suffering and commitment in raising us as children. We thank them for the sacrifice of their time, pleasures and interest to give us a life of contentment.

Heavenly Father, we pray that they are highly favored and, in Your heart of Grace, they have a wonderful place in existence.

We thank our mothers and we thank them for all the pain, suffering and commitment in raising us. Click To Tweet

Mothers separated from their children

Lord Jesus, we pray for those mothers who are separated from their children. You know the heart of mothers and how they are connected to their children in mind, body and blood.

Whether they are near or apart, a mother never forgets her child. She always prays for the safety and well being of her child.

May they continue in prayer as they lift up their concerns and hurts of heart and seek for You Lord to be their children’s guide.

In Your perfect timing and in Your will, may forgiveness and reconciliation be part of their life and in joy unite with their children and savor motherhood to the fullest.

Those who have lost their mother

We pray for those who have lost their way as mothers. Help them remember that there’s always time to turn back and become a better person in life.

Their old bitter and bad ways could be left at Your feet and in Your love and forgiveness they are a new being.

Help them believe that though situations and circumstances may not be fit, they can make a difference and change if only they believe.

Praying for all mothers

May our prayer warm the hearts of all mothers today. May they know that they are loved and precious. Let they know they are worthy in their call. There’s no failing so great that cannot be forgiven, forgotten and renewed in You Lord Jesus.

May mothers today all over the world feel in their heart the joys of being called a mother and in all their goodness and all their failings, be blessed in Your love and forgiveness. We pray in Grace they belong close to You Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Favorite A Mothers Prayer Quotes

1. “A childish soul not inoculated with compulsory prayer is a soul open to any religious infection.”
Author: Alexander Cockburn

2. “The aim of our orator, then, when speaking of things that are just and holy and good–and he should not speak of anything else–the aim, as I say, that he pursues to the best of his ability when he speaks of these things is to be listened to with understanding, with pleasure, and with obedience. He should be in no doubt that any ability he has and however much he has derives more from his devotion to prayer than his dedication to oratory; and so, by praying for himself and for those he is about to address, he must become a man of prayer before becoming a man of words.”
Author: Augustine Of Hippo

3. “The Mother of God is asked to ‘pray zealously to her Son and her God,’ and the words of the psalm are put into her mouth:’My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. for He hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.’ It is because of her child that she says this, He will magnify her (‘For He that is mighty hath done to me great things’): He is her glory. Any woman could say it. For everyone of them, God is in her child. Mothers of great men must have been familiar with this feeling, but then, all women are mothers of great men-it isn’t their fault if life disappoints them later.”
Author: Boris Pasternak

4. “A prayerless soul is a Christless soul. Prayer is the lisping of the believing infant, the shout of the fighting believer, the requiem of the dying saint falling asleep in Jesus. It is”
Author: Charles H. Spurgeon

5. “Prayer bends the omnipotence of heaven to your desire. Prayer moves the hand that moves the world.”
Author: Charles H. Spurgeon

6. “Trouble and perplexity drive me to prayer, and prayer drives away perplexity and trouble.”
Author: Elizabeth George

7. “It is a common temptation of Satan to make us give up the reading of the Word and prayer when our enjoyment is gone; as if it were of no use to read the Scriptures when we do not enjoy them, and as if it were no use to pray when we have no spirit of prayer.”
Author: George Muller

8. “I notice I am taking risks with my own security and losing my sensitivity to danger. I don’t know it at the time, but the effects of war are reaching into me in unexpected ways, and I am being changed by them. I am surrounded by destruction and the randomness of death, which I cannot fathom. I have felt the closeness of death as tangibly as the whisper of a murderous seducer, and felt the richness, twinged by guilt, of having escaped its grasp. I have seen too often the numb lost look of men consumed by undiluted grief, and heard the howl of children as their mothers are pulled from the rubble of a rocket-blasted home, and I am coming to understand the long dark pain of those who silently endure what first seems unendurable.”
Author: Jason Elliot

9. “Last week, our picture windowProduced a half-word,Heavy and hollow,Hit by a brown bird.We stood and watched her gape like a rattlesnakeAnd pant and labor over every intake.I said a sort of prayer for some rare grace,Then thought i ought to take her to a higher place.Said, “dog nor vulture nor cat shall toy with you,And though you die, bird, you will have a fine view.”
Author: Joanna Newsom

10. “Sometimes, mothers say and do things that seem like they don’t want their kids… but when you look more closely, you realize that they’re doing those kids a favor. They’re just trying to give them a better life.”
Author: Jodi Picoult

11. “It is my fervent hope and prayer that by exposing my mistakes and by pointing out the things that were a part of my early life, some who might be following the same paths might not make those same mistakes.”
Author: John Clayton

12. “Mothers who know do less. They permit less of what will not bear good fruit eternally. They allow less media in their homes, less distraction, less activity that draws their children away from their home. Mothers who know are willing to live on less and consume less of the world’s goods in order to spend more time with their children—more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all.”
Author: Julie B. Beck

13. “This country,” said Eliot, “had tremendous research projects devoted to fighting odors. They were supported by individual contributions given to mothers who marched on Sundays from door to door. The ideal of the research was to find a specific chemical deodorant for every odor. But then the hero, who was also the country’s dictator, made a wonderful scientific breakthrough, even though he wasn’t a scientist, and they didn’t need the projects any more. He went right to the root of the problem.””Uh huh,” said the Senator. He couldn’t stand stories by Kilgore Trout, was embarassed by his son. “He found one chemical that would eliminate all odors?””No. As I say, the hero was dictator, and he simply eliminated noses.”
Author: Kurt Vonnegut

14. “The times, the seasons, the signs may have been mythical; but the sufferings were not. I lay in the dark with the breathing of men around me and knew that then, at that selfsame moment, where dawn groped across the sea, my brethren lay bound in ships, one body atop another, smelling of their green wounds and faeces; I knew in dark houses, there was torture, arms held down, firebrands approaching the soft skin of the belly or arm; and still – there is screaming in the night; there is flight; mothers sob for children they shall not see again; girls feel the weight of men atop them; men cry for their wives; boys dangle dead in the barn; and we smoke their sorrow contentedly; and we eat their sorrow; and we wear their sorrow; and wonder how it came so cheap. It was for this that we labored and fought, risking our very lives.”
Author: M.T. Anderson

15. “Because the media always serve up heroes and villians, there had to be the terrible mothers, the anti-Madonnas, the hideous counterexamples good mothers were meant to revile. We regret to report that nearly all of these women were African American and were disproportionately featured as failed mothers in news stories about “crack babies,” single, teen mothers, and welfare mothers.”
Author: Susan Douglas

16. “Every time someone ends a prayer in the Western world they say Amen – that is the name of an Egyptian god associated with completion. So we’re still praying to their gods.”
Author: Whitley Strieber
