How to pray for finances

MEMORY VERSE:

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

– Philippians 4:19

REFLECTION

In the last two posts, I have tried to tell us that it’s possible to find yourself in an unpleasant financial situation from time to time. But it’s better not to worry and fret at such times, but to pray in all situations and our loving God will answer and send help.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1

I’ve shared my encounter with you in the part 1 of these series and the encounters of a few Bible men and women during their times of hardship. I want to encourage your faith not to see yourself as done.

Something good is going to come out of whatever situation you find yourself right now, in Jesus name.

Today, I want to share with you 5 important facts you should note as you pray for financial breakthrough. This is extremely very important because it will help you to appreciate God’s answers as they come. It will help you not to fix your mind in one way as the only way God will answer your prayers for financial breakthrough.

The point is for us to understand that financial breakthrough can come in any (legal) way. God could touch someone to send you money or send you some new job offers or just an idea. You should have an open mind and not confine God to one specific way to answer your prayers. What matters is that He will answer your prayers, but the manner it would take is entirely at His discretion.

The Bible says:

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – James 1:17

So if you find yourself at a point where you really need a financial assistance, a raise, a push, or you feel that the enemy is threatening your finances, you can pray and loose the angels of goodness and mercy to work and bring your supplies back.

However, do take note of these vital points…

1. Financial breakthrough does not mean that money will fall from the sky or that unknown persons will call you and give you huge sums of money for free or that you’ll win lotto or football bet.

Someone messaged me the other day and asked me to go watch a video of manna falling from the sky. I said, “for real? Did you watch it?” He said yes and tried to persuade me. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch the video.

Yes, I know that God can do all things, but it’s not a good idea for us to expect manna to fall from the sky.

There’s this misunderstanding I’ve observed in our faith churches. Some persons share a testimony of how someone called them after prayers and blesses them with money to solve their problems, then everyone claps and praises God. And consequently many  start praying and exercising faith that someone will call them and give them money too. Some now believe that if they haven’t experienced that kind of miracle, that they’ve not gotten a financial miracle breakthrough.

That’s a wrong mindset. First, I understand that God can ask people to call us and give us money and gifts. It happens every now and then. Most times, such miracles happen to provide relief in serious crisis situations. But as Christians, we are not to live our lives hoping and expecting such occasional interventions as standards for provision.

From my experience, as I shared above, while we pray, God can open doors that is still in line with our businesses and jobs, and by rendering services He blesses us with money to take care of our financial situation, and not necessarily raining down cash from heaven or getting someone to give us money for free.

The point is for us not to adore one method of God’s provision and insist that’s how we’re going to be blessed or nothing else.

2. Financial Miracles can happen from time to time but should not be our only hope to becoming a multi-millionaire without further work.

Most financial miracle breakthroughs are intended to give relief over present financial crisis situations. But after such miracles, we have to continue to work and or render services and be creative in what we are doing to continue to enjoy financial supplies.

For example, someone shared a story with me some time ago. His friend’s wife delivered a baby through a CS. Due to certain complications in the process the hospital bill was huge. Meanwhile, before this time, this friend was having challenges in his business. So paying the hospital bill and getting his wife out was very difficult.

One day, while in the hospital, bowed and in tears, a man he had never seen before, a Muslim (Alhaji) for that matter, walked up to him and asked what the matter was. In tears, he explained his ordeal. The strange fellow consoled him and paid the hospital bill and gave them some money to go home.

No doubt, that’s a financial miracle.

But as you can see, it will be so wrong if this friend refuses to do business or look for a better work and keep hoping that an angel will always bring him money to sort out his problems.

As we pray and seek God in our times of need, we can expect some strange financial miracles from time to time, but it should not be a standard for living.

3. Financial breakthrough also means a new job with higher pay, a raise in salary, a new business idea or business connection.

The principal way that God blesses His people is through the works of their hands; that is, through your job or career or business. So if you don’t have a job and you don’t have a business, you can pray for God to give you a job or give you ideas to explore in starting your own business.

Apostle Paul said:

“For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” –  1 Thessalonians 3:10.

The first thing is to have a willingness to work. Then back up that willingness by making sincere concerted efforts. Then we can pray and command God’s blessings over what we are doing.

As we pray, God gives us ideas and shows us what to do, and connects us with the right people.

4.  Financial breakthrough also means divine direction over an investment or career or business decision.

In Genesis chapter 26, there was recession in the land. Isaac wanted to leave the country, but God appeared to him and told him to stay put and invest. He obeyed. The Bible then reports that, “Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.  The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.” (Genesis 26:12-13).

When there is a business opportunity or job opening before us, we don’t just rush into it, no matter how spicy it smells. When things get difficult in our present career or business, we don’t just run without looking back. As Christians we spend time and seek the LORD for direction on what to do. He may inspire us to go ahead with what we are doing or explore new doors or stay away. That way we’ll be sure to get the best out of such jobs and businesses. That direction, inspiration, discovery is  also a part of what financial breakthrough is.

But also, don’t expect everything to be easy because you’re a Christian or because you spent 30 days fasting and praying, or because you’re sure God inspired you to take up the job or start the business or stay put in what you are doing. Fasting and praying will clear off spiritual barriers and obstacles but you have to do some digging here and there.

Remember Isaac. It’s not easy planting crops when rain won’t fall. Isaac had to work out a way to water his crops. He didn’t hope that God would send rain on his farm because he heard from God to stay in the land or because he was a covenant child. He and his men dug a well; they sweated out the pain and took several days to dig in several places until they found water, and used the water to water their crops.

One thing about God’s direction is that you’re sure that as you work hard, you’ll surely discover water to water your crops. You’re working with hope and assurance that at the end you’ll have reasons to smile.

5. Financial breakthrough also means pulling down the strongholds of the enemy over your finances.

Sometimes the devil can attack your finances, like he did to Job. We may experience losses or extreme difficulty irrespective of how hard we work. When that is the case then you need to stand in God’s Word and rebuke the devil.

If you’re experiencing great financial challenges which are not as a result of laziness, you can stand in God’s WORD and break the power of the devil over your finances. You can command the devil to loose his hold on your finances and release the angels of goodness to bring your finances to you.

That’s basically what I did for several nights and broke the enemy’s hold over my finances.

Now that the WORD has gone out and I believe you have received it with an open mind and faith, in the next part of this post I’ll share with you powerful prayer points for financial breakthrough.

Have faith. God is at work in your life. He is making a way for you, in Jesus name.

MEMORY VERSE:

6. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.

7.  If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (TLB)

REFLECTION:

The scripture above clearly says that we could and should pray about everything. It says instead of worrying and getting anxious about anything, we should turn the moments into prayers and thanksgiving. When we do, we  will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep our thoughts and our hearts quiet and at rest as we trust in Christ Jesus.

When the Bible says everything, it means everything….yes, your financial needs inclusive. Instead of getting worried about your financial situation, you can actually pray about it.

This lesson is intended to share with you prayers and how to pray for your financial needs. At the end of these series you will be able to confidently pray in times of financial scarcity and receive answers from God.

How I Learned to Pray for My Financial Situation

“Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.”Romans 13:8

Sometime ago, I found myself in a dire financial fix. I needed a financial miracle, and I needed it ASAP. I had to pay some bills or face being insulted by my creditor.

Usually, I had never bothered about praying for money. I believed that God blesses us by the works of our hands.

But this time, I found myself where I needed to get some urgent financial assistance.

In our Church, we’re taught against borrowing, especially borrowing to support lifestyle. We’re told that we can borrow to fund a business idea, but that borrowing to pay rent, support our wardrobe and others does not make sense.

“Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.” – Proverbs 22:7

I also found out that living with that principle has helped me out over the years. But this time, business wasn’t doing well and we needed to pay our rent or face being insulted by our landlady.

So I began to pray for financial help. I prayed several nights and asked God to show us the way out. While doing that I found out in scriptures that we can actually pray for money. Money is part of our needs that God does supply. I also learned there’s a way to pray for financial miracle.

God showed me that all the money I would need in my life are here on earth and not in heaven. He is not printing Dollars, Pounds, Euro, Naira or Rand in heaven. He showed me how to take control of the matter spiritually and release angels to get the money I want.

Weeks later, after I had started praying for financial miracle and always declaring things like, “angels of money, go now and bring my money to me. Cause men and women who are connected to my finances to come”, I had a call to come and train someone on digital marketing. I went. Unfortunately, the pay was way smaller than I had anticipated. Although, even if the student had paid 5 times the fee I usually charged, it would not have solved our problem.

But while training the student, he came up with some ideas that needed my service. He wanted the jobs executed immediately. At first I was like, “this student could not even pay the normal training fee, how would he get money to pay for something else?”

But while we discussed, he made me an offer that surprised me. And before I could say jack, he paid immediately. No waiting for analysis, reviews, meetings, etc.

The transaction relieved me of the situation; but more importantly, I had learned something. We can pray for a financial miracle when we are in a fix, and there is a way to pray and get answers for financial help, career and business breakthrough.

In these lessons, I will charge you to pray for your finances and get a breakthrough if things seem tough at the moment. Get ready. Something good will happen to you, in Jesus name.

A miracle is a divine intervention. Something that alters normal course of life and produces a positive effect. For instance, the common way to make money is to render a service or sell a product. Using that definition, one would therefore say that a financial miracle is an intervention that helps someone out of a financial situation without directly rendering a service or selling a product.

While that is accurate, it is however wrong to ONLY peg financial miracle on that premise alone. I believe that financial miracle is encompassing. For instance, if you are working on a job that is not yielding enough money for you at the end of the day, and you seek God about it, and get a raise, or a better offer eventually (say, after a couple of weeks or months) …that’s a financial miracle breakthrough.

If you are in a financial fix and suddenly someone calls you and gives you a job that gives you relief after you have prayed, that’s financial breakthrough.

If your business is not doing so well and you spend time seeking God about it, and then eventually get an idea or ideas that transforms everything for you, and gets you back on track to profitability, that’s a financial miracle breakthrough.

The Bible says:

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – James 1:17

When praying for financial breakthrough, you should have an open mind. You should not confine God to one specific way to answer your prayers. What matters is that He will answer your prayers, but the manner it would take is entirely at His discretion. Your job is to have faith and maintain an open mind as you pray.

So if you find yourself at a point where you really need a financial assistance, a raise, a push, or you feel that the enemy is threatening your finances, you can pray and loose the angels of goodness and mercy to work and bring your supplies back.

We’ve all been there. The moment where you cross your fingers and pray that the bills won’t bounce. Perhaps you’ve been faced with unemployment and you have no earthly idea how you’ll be able to make next month’s rent payment. Or maybe you’re working two jobs and still can’t seem to get ahead. Financial issues can be extremely stressful and effect so many different aspects of life – both physically and emotionally.

In order to gain better control over your finances, it may be wise to consult a financial advisor who has a better idea of how to manage funds and what type of options are accessible for your specific situation. While you may believe that you have it under control and perceive no other workable solutions, getting a second opinion on your financial situation can prove to make an extreme difference. Along with professional help, it’s important to maintain your sanity with spiritual assistance. You’ll discover a financial expert’s assistance coupled with prayer will provide you with the hope and motivation you will need to overcome just about anything.

The Bible provides Christians with a number of scriptures focused on money, finances and giving. Philippians 4:19 is one of my go-to scriptures to reference when I’m facing financial issues. The verse says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” It’s important, despite the frustrations tough finances brings forth, to know that the Lord is always by your side. He will never give you more than you can manage and will provide the necessities to live a prosperous life. First, place your faith in the Lord and he’ll do the rest.

“Dear Lord, help me to leave my financial worries in Your Hands. Guide me to peace so that I can hear your wisdom. Keep me mindful of my blessings no matter how much or little I may have. Grant me the patience and tolerance necessary to calm my spirit knowing that you have everything under control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Patience is a virtue that is required within so many elements of life – finances being one of those main elements. From time-to-time God’s children become so bogged down with the endless list of demands our life brings forward. The Lord understands your frustrations and sees firsthand how much work you’re putting in each day. Chin up friend – ask the Lord to grant you the necessary patience to get through this difficult financial period. While it may seem overwhelming, while you’re in the moment, remember that the Lord will always provide you with the resources you’ll need.

And then there are times when we feel need a financial miracle – car breaks down unexpectedly, death in the family, water heater explodes, or an illness. For those times a prayer that asks the Lord Jesus Christ for a miracle is exactly what is needed.

“O Lord, You placed the stars in the sky. You created a myriad of beautiful life. You gave us our breathe and water to drink.

You are a living Lord. You are my Savior, in whom I trust. Please rescue me from this financial crisis, Come redeem this situation. I ask for your almighty hand to come and cover me.

Give me wisdom and strength to stand strong through this storm. I ask for a miracle by your redeeming love. Please restore me, lead me to a safe place, a secure place, a place of financial balance. In you I trust. Amen.”

Jesus Christ, who is your Lord and Savior, understands better than anyone the spontaneity in life – and moreover, how those unexpected times can bring on financial burdens. If you’re going through a difficult time, ask the Lord for a miracle through prayer. A prayer for financial help from God can be a definite game changer and provide you with the resources that you need to get out of the hole. The world is filled with an insurmountable amount of solutions; however, identifying those answers can prove to be very challenging. Through prayer, ask the Lord to give you guidance coupled with the patience you’ll need to discover the financial solution you desperately need. In many cases, you’ll discover a solution that is seemingly been in front of you the entire time. In addition, this difficult financial time could also lead you to wisdom that you would have ordinarily been blind to.

Lastly, one of the strongest messages spiritual messages comes from Matthew. These words redefine the true meaning behind necessity and desire. Often times, we as human beings, become obsessed with the materialistic aspects of things. Sometimes objects appear to be a necessity however, in fact, these items are not a vital aspect of survival.

Lord God in heaven I come to you humbly asking you to bless me financially.  This is not hard for you to do because the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.  You are Jehovah Jireh the God who provides and I ask you to provide for me and my family and my friends.  We are in need of your help.

Lord I ask you to show me the areas in my life where I may not have been a good steward of Your money and I ask that you would bring conviction into my heart by the power of Your Holy Spirit.  Show me the areas where I need to improve how I handle your money so that I may honor You by using what You give me in a manner that pleases You.  I pray Lord that when I receive this financial blessings that you will send me in the next few days, I will tithe to the ministry that you will call to my mind the amount which You will put in my heart.  Lord I know that You are able to supply my needs according to your glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  I know that you are the God who gives me the ability to create wealth and I make a covenant with you today that when you send me this financial blessing I will praise you for it no matter how small it may be and I will continue to serve you with a grateful heart.

Lord I ask that you would cause me to have an undivided heart and mind towards you.  No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. I know that I cannot serve both You God and Money(Luke 16:13). Forgive me if I have misplaced my worship and my focus.  Bless me this day with the blessing that you gave our forefather Abraham.  Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain (1Chronicles 4:10).  In Jesus Name. AMEN.
