going home prayer

My father in-law, Peter, is preparing to pass over so I send this prayer in love.

Let not your weary heart be troubled,

Let not your weary body hold you back,

Let not your mind be in confusion

As you step lighlty along the golden path.

No more looking back,

No more wondering why,

No more crying out,

No more fear,

As you lift your soul to heaven above

And find your friends awaiting to greet you with love,

They shower you in kisses and affection,

And once again you take rest in the heart and mind of One!

.

Much love Peter as you make ready to go on your way xxx

Please feel free to send on to anyone else.

Oh King of Heaven, how we love You! You, our Father, are magnificent and none can compare to your Glory. We bow down before you in humble prayer.

Lord, we ask that you help us release every negative thought, every trace of doubt and every bit of fear that may lurk deep within our hearts.

Help us to let go of the things that consume our happiness as we declare you release joy into our lives.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Let Go of limiting beliefs

Father, we ask your assistance in letting go of ideals, old patterns (or habits that no longer serve us), arguments and limiting beliefs.

Help us to remember that letting go is a healthy practice to maintain joy and peace within our hearts, as well as our lives.

Isaiah 43:18-19 Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything. But in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Letting Go means finding forgiveness

Lord remind us that letting go also means finding forgiveness. Whether it is forgiving yourself, or forgiving a person who betrayed you.

Help us to release the past and let go of the pain and anger that destroys our ability to show compassion.

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and you will not be judged. Condemn not, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and slander be put away from you, as well as all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

All things work together for good

Help us, Oh Loving Father, to remember everything in our lives happen for a reason and you alone know why.

For you make all things work together for our good. Every detail, every event, whether big or small, is all part of your plan to shape us and mold us into the persons we are meant to be.

Knowing this now, we declare that every situation that makes our hearts heavy, be released… In Jesus’ most precious name, AMEN!!

This is a prayer for those going on a short term mission trip.

If you are looking for a resource where you can find a mission trip, please click here

Before you pray you must have an understanding of all the areas where your youth or adults going on the trip need to be covered:

Purpose

Persons going on the missions trips must find their individual purpose for being on that trip.  Whether they realize it or not, they are on that particular trip in that particular place in the world at that particular time for a specific purpose.  Sometimes they can believe that they are on the trip for one reason and then later realize they were actually on the trip for a different reason. Finding the purpose is important to accomplishing the mission. Queen Esther discovered her purpose after she was already queen and the moment arose when she needed to step into that purpose (Esther 4:14)”If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”

Provision

To get on the trip and while on the trip each missionary will need provisions.  First with the money to go on the trip and for incidentals, souvenirs or maybe to give an offering to the church they will be visiting on the trip. (Philippians 4:19) “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

Protection

The missions group will need your prayers for protection.  Both from the spiritual and the natural (illnesses, etc.)  Remember that they may encounter foods that may not interact well with their bodies so covering in this area is very important.  You can also give them this Prayer for Putting on the Armor of God to pray daily while they are on the trip.

Prayer

The person going on this short term mission trip must be praying everyday through the duration of this mission.  This is important for them to stay connected with God and here instructions from Him as they go along.

Submission

A mission trip is certainly not the time or place to defy the authority figure or leader of the group.  Submission to the authority keeps everyone safe and encourages the unity of the spirit. (Philippians 2:2-8) “then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God,did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!”

Spiritual Gifts

The youth or adult going on the mission trip will need to know or at least identify their spiritual gifts so that they can be used for God’s glory. (1 Corinthians 12:5) “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.” Please read the entire 1 Corinthians 12 for clarity.

Here is a spiritual gifts test that you can take to find out your giftings before your missions trip.

Here is your prayer for mission trips:

Father God, I thank you for the opportunity for _______ to serve you on the mission field. I thank you that _______has taken your commission of Matthew 28:18 to go into all the world preaching the gospel and leading people to you Lord to heart and is actually doing something to fulfill this great commission.  Father I ask that you would first provide for ________ miraculously.  Cover all the costs of this trip over and above and let it be in abundance so that _________ will be able to bless others on the trip as well as the churches and places that he/she will visit while on this trip.  I pray that you will give ________ a submissive heart to authority and bring the unity of the spirit and the bond of peace among the entire group.  Let the mind that is in Christ be also in all of them. Let none do anything out of selfish ambition but that they will all look to the well being of others.  Give them a servant’s heart and spirit as you had Jesus. I pray that your Holy Spirit will lead and guide them along the way.  Reveal your spiritual gifts to __________ that you have placed within him/her to be used for your glory.  Cause ________ to be your hands and feet Jesus ministering to the least of these.  I pray for divine healing Jehovah Rapha and good health throughout the entire trip.  Make _______ mindful of what he/she is eating.  Reveal your purpose for ______ on this trip.  May he/she be fully aware of Your purpose and be used to the fullness of it.  Make your giftings abound to carry out the purpose.  May he/she submit to your spirit and give honor and glory to your name at all times. No weapons that are ever formed against _____ on this trip shall prosper and any tongue that would rise up against him/her in judgement will be condemned.  May your warring angels surround this group every day on this trip and be with them going and coming.  Watch over them Lord from their rising up to their laying down.  Grant them all peace and a successful trip, in Jesus Name, Amen.
