Financial breakthrough scriptures in the bible

Are you looking for a breakthrough?  Waiting for something to happen that hasn’t happened in a long time?

God has a specific formula on how to get your breakthrough.  Why is it some people can pray prayers and things happen right away while others have to wait for such a long time for anything to happen?  We would like to share with you some scriptures and a step by step formula and prayer to step into your breakthrough for this year.

First, let’s look at some bible scriptures that give an outline for breakthrough and let’s look at some stories in the bible on how men and women of God have received exactly what they asked for in prayer.

1.  Confess your sins.  Repent.

There are some that think because we are Christians we don’t sin.  This is not truth.  We are still sinners and we sin just about everyday in our thoughts and deeds.  Some are sins of commission (we did something wrong) or sins of omission (we failed to do something that we should do) Therefore, we need to ask for forgiveness of our sin BEFORE we ask God to give us anything.  We have to make sure that there is nothing standing in the way of our prayers being answered.

Proverbs 28:13 (NIV)

“Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

Psalm 66:18-20 (NIV)

“If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;
 but God has surely listened
and has heard my prayer.
Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!”

2.  Make sure that what you are asking for is the will of God

God is not going to answer prayers that are not according to His will.  Find the scriptures in the bible that support your request and this will be the basis of your request.  God’s word is the truth and He is obligated to fulfill His word.

1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

John 8:32 (NIV)

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

3.  Ask God to endow you with faith to believe

For the breakthrough to happen you must have faith that God will answer your prayer.

Acts 1:8 (NIV)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

4.  Be Persistent.  This is the most important point.

Ask, Seek, Knock!  Ask, Seek, Knock!  Imagine that I walk up to a house and I Ask someone outside if “so and so” is inside the house, I received no answer so my next step is to walk up to the house and Seek out the person so I may say “Hello, is “so and so” home?”.  Then I take it  a step further and I knock.  When you are knocking on a door, you knock until someone opens it.  The action of Knocking is repetitive.  Go ahead, start knocking on a door and you’ll see that it’s not knocking until you’ve done it several times.  No one goes up to a door, whispers, raps on it once and thinks that someone will answer.  Therefore, when you go to God in prayer…Ask, Seek, KNOCK.  Don’t get tired of asking…keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking.  This is a continual motion.

Matthew 7:7-12 (NIV) Ask, Seek, Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Here’s another story of persistence…

Luke 18:1-8 (NIV)
The Parable of the Persistent Widow

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’” And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

And a story of faith and persistence in prayer

1 Kings 18:41-45 (NIV)

And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.

“Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked.

“There is nothing there,” he said.

Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.”

The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”

So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”

Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.

We trust that this formula will help you to receive the breakthrough that you have been waiting for.

Here’s a prayer for your breakthrough

Most High God, I come before you covered under the blood of Jesus and I thank you for the forgiveness that He has imparted to me by dying for my sins.  Forgive me of my iniquities and specifically for the sin of _________________________.  I pray that you will give me the grace to continue to walk in truth and not fall into that sin again.  I pray that you would bind the hand of the enemy so that I will not be tempted in this area again but I know that if he comes again you will provide a way for me to escape the temptation.  Give me the heart and mind of Christ to love You as You have loved me.  I pray that  you would give me the faith to believe for the breakthrough in the area of __________________.  You know how long I have waited for this.  Forgive me for  my sin of unbelief.  Speak to my heart and show me if this is Your will.  I know you are obligated to fulfill Your word.  You are not a man that you should lie or the son of a man that you need to repent. I know Your word and Your promises are Yes and Amen.  I can rely on Your immutability and on the answer to this prayer.  Bring scriptures to my heart and mind that I can use to stand on your promises and receive my breakthrough.  Most of all God grant me a persistent heart that I can continue to Ask, Seek & Knock until you open that door.  Thank you for creating this opportunity where I have to bow my knee to your power and trust You.  I ask all of these things in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Is money spiritual and worthy enough to pray for? Learn what the Bible says about it and how you can pray for financial stability, employment and prosperity.

A financial sphere is the one most of us struggle with. Often times we cannot get what we want and even what we need for life. These things evoke anxiety and leave many people in depression. But can you pray to God to get your needs met and is He interested in such prayers?

5 ways to pray to God for money:

1. Pray for your daily needs.

Jesus in His famous prayer said:

“Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11)

At the end of the same chapter He continues:

“For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:32-33)

And He actually promises to provide us with what we need for life. So, you can use these Scriptures to build up your faith and come to the Lord in prayer for the money to meet your daily needs.

2. Pray for prosperity.

Prosperity is when you have more than enough. Having enough is good. Your needs are met and you can live. But prosperity is better. God is the God of abundance. It’s His nature. He gives abundantly:

“And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers…” (Deuteronomy 30:9)

Take Him as your source, follow His Word and prosper!

3. Pray to break the debt.

Debt is the curse. You cannot be happy and free, when you know you owe something. That’s not the will of God for His children. You can use this Scripture to pray:

“For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.” (Deuteronomy 15:6)

However, along with it pray for wisdom, because most of the times we are the ones to blame for foolish behavior. We get ourselves into debt through our lusts.

4. Pray for growth.

You can go from glory to glory even in your finances. So, pray to the Lord to give you knowledge and wisdom:

“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” (Proverbs 8:11)

The best investment is made inside. You grow and your abilities to earn and prosper increase, too.

5. Pray for supernatural provisions.

They say: “Where God guides, He provides!” And that is true. At times we need much more than we can do or have on our own to fulfill the will of God. He opens the doors and provides for us supernaturally to do the impossible.

Jesus multiplied the loaves of bread and fish to feed 5000 people. He has more than enough for those who seek, ask and get ready to do His will.

Have you been praying for a financial breakthrough? What does scripture have to say about wealth and prosperity?

Well, as it turns out, God had quite a bit to say about money and the Bible is packed full of verses about your finances.

Unfortunately, there’s a misconception in many Christian circles that it’s somehow unspiritual or wrong to be wealthy.

I’ve gotta say, my friend… that’s not the way I read it.

If you’ve been praying for a financial breakthrough… for a change to your financial situation, I encourage you to take a look at these scriptures and judge for yourself what the Bible has to say about money & success.

Then move forward in faith in the direction you feel He is leading  you.

Tithing & Giving

Malachi 3:10: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

2 Corinthians 9:7: Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Luke 6:38: Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Proverbs 11:24-25: One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Proverbs 3:9: Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops…

Matthew 6:2: So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

2 Corinthians 13:3: If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Debt & Borrowing

Proverbs 22:7: The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Romans 13:8: Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.

Luke 14:28: “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

Romans 13:7: Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Proverbs 22:26: Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts; if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.

James 4:13-16: Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil.

Wealth & Success

Genesis 13:2: Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.

Proverbs 3:9: Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.

Genesis 26:12-14: Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.

Genesis 30:43: In this way the man (Jacob) grew exceedingly prosperous and came to own large flocks, and female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.

Deuteronomy 8:18: But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

Nehemiah 2:20: I answered them by saying, “The God of heaven will give us success….”

Job 22:21: “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.

Luke 16:10: “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”

Love of Money
(a.k.a – Greed)

1 Timothy 6:10: For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Proverbs 28:25: The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper.

Hebrews 13:5: Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Proverbs 11:28: Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.

Luke 12:15: Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

Financial Responsibility

James 4:3: When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

Proverbs 23:4: Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.

Matthew 6:19-20: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

1 Timothy 6:6-10: Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Matthew 22:17-21: Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Proverbs 17:16: Why should fools have money in hand to buy wisdom, when they are not able to understand it?

God’s Blessing & Generosity

Luke 6:38: Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

2 Corinthians 9:6: The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Matthew 6:31-33: So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Deuteronomy 15:6: For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.

Psalm 37:4: Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

2 Chronicles 25:9: Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?” The man of God replied, “The Lord can give you much more than that.”

Matthew 6:33: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

2 Corinthians 9:8: And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:10: Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

Hard Work & Persistence

Proverbs 21:5: The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

Philippians 4:13:  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Colossians 3:23-24: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Proverbs 13:4: A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

Proverbs 14:23: All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Galations 6:9: Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

2 Timothy 2:6: The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops.

The Parable of The Bags Of Gold
(Matthew 15:14-28)

14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.Come and share your master’s happiness!’

22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.Come and share your master’s happiness!’

24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. 29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Conclusion

It seems to me that according to the Bible, the danger is in our relationship to money, not the money itself. It’s okay to have wealth and success, it’s just not okay to be in love with it.

You should see your wealth as a tool to be used to help other people. If you want wealth for the wrong reasons, God will not bless you.

I ended this with the parable of the bags of gold because it shows that we really have a responsibility to multiply what we have been entrusted with as much as we can.

It is only by being faithful with a little that you will be entrusted with more.

It’s also your responsibility to use leverage for multiplying what you have been entrusted with. To create abundance without wearing yourself out to get rich (Proverbs 23:4).

You are to do it for the right reasons and with the right motives (James 4:3).

As your blessings grow, you are to honor the Lord with your wealth (Proverbs 3:9).

The truth is, the more abundance you create in your life, the more you can bless others.
