Bible verses for job interview

Looking for and finding a good job can be very daunting in today’s economy for individuals of all walks of life. I recently found myself unemployed and looking for a new job, and I have to share that it was a very difficult and lengthy process. Even though I had a good resume, several academic degrees, and a lot of experience, it took me quite a while to find the great job that I have now. The Lord provided for my every need, though, and the following top 7 Bible verses about finding a job encouraged and sustained me in my search.

Psalm 90:17 “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.”

First of all, it is crucial to recognize that we need the Lord’s favor to rest on us and to establish the work of our hands. We need him to guide us to the right position, and place us where we can be of utmost service to his Kingdom. He also knows where we will be fulfilled and reach our highest potential. Praying and asking for his guidance and blessing in our job search will pay off with the highest dividends.

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;”

Finding the right employment requires us to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and not lean on our own wisdom. I have to confess that I tried running ahead of God several times in my recent job search, and I even began two separate part-time jobs in my feeble attempts to find work.  I was miserable in both of those jobs, though, and I quickly came to realize my lack of trust in God’s timing and provision. The solution to my impatience and lack of faith is explained precisely in Proverbs 3:6, as Solomon shares, “in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Once I submitted to God’s direction, he was able to lead me where I needed to go.

Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

I love this verse, because it is a very encouraging one. It reminds us that if we ask God for a job, that he will answer our request. If we seek the right job, we will find it. And if we knock on the employment door, it will be opened to us. God wants us to be productive members of society and the Kingdom, so he will provide for his children.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Waiting on the Lord’s timing can be very challenging, and impatience often seems to rule my life. However, this verse keeps everything in proper perspective. God does work all things together for good for those who love him—in other words, for us. We have been called his children according to his purpose, so he will provide everything we need when we need it. This includes finding the right job for our skills, talents, and anointing level at the right time.

I Corinthians 4:12 “We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;”

Working is not a bad word, as God calls us to work hard with our own hands. It is something that he calls us all to do—whether we work at home or at an office, or whether we are sending out resumes or filling out applications—we need to do it as unto the Lord. We also need to bless and be a blessing no matter what else is going on around us even when we are cursed or persecuted.

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…”

Finding the right job may seem like hard work, especially when we try to do it in our own strength. The important thing, though, is to give whatever we do all our effort. Whether it is working or looking for employment, we need to do it as if we are working for the Lord. He is our ultimate boss, and we should want to please him most of all.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 “For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: ‘The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.’”

bible verses for job interview

My final top verse about finding a job is this one, because it can be easy to want to give up. Good jobs are very hard to find these days, and it might seem simple to just stop trying to find one at all. After sending out over 100 resumes, I can say that I was tempted to give up on my employment search many times. However, I knew that I needed to keep searching for the position that God was preparing for me. This verse shows us the consequence of not working, and it is definitely one that as Christians we should avoid.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, finding a job in today’s economy can be a very difficult undertaking. It might be tempting to give up, but God wants us to be contributing members of society and follow his leading and guidance to the right place of employment. He knows the timing and the place where we will be able to use our gifts and talents for the glory of his Kingdom. And as Christians, we know that the Lord will always provide for his children no matter what comes our way.

Are you currently unemployed and seeking a job?  Well, many people are in the same situation as you are and the Bible has many scriptures about this subject.

The first thing you must know is that every job that is available belongs to God.  He is really the One who will be giving you the job.

Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;”

Sometimes the job that you are looking for may not be the one the Lord has in mind for you.  Therefore, you need to remain open minded about all the opportunities that come your way and be prayerful about all offers.

Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

Be sure that whatever job you accept it is one that is legal and honest.  If you have questions or suspicions about it then it is probably not a good choice for you.

Proverbs 11:1 “ The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.”

The Lord’s plan is for you to provide for your family so there should be absolutely no question in your mind that it is His will for you to find employment

1 Timothy 5:8 “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

The Bible also says that if you don’t work you don’t eat.  This should be your go to scripture in your prayer time for employment.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 “For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.”

Here are some other bible verses for job seekers for you to read and meditate on:

Psalm 34:10: The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

Psalm 75:6: For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

Psalm 113:5,7-8: Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

Phil 4:13,19: I can do all things through Christ which strenghteneth me, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 6:6–8 ” Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise, which, having no chief, officer or ruler, prepares her food in the summer and gathers her provision in the harvest.”

Proverbs 22:7 “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.”

Romans 13:8 “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.”

Proverbs 21:20″In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.”

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.”

Psalm 20:4 “May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”

Here is a prayer for you based on the scriptures above.

Lord God in heaven I come to you humbly asking you to guide me to employment.  This is not hard for you to do because the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.  You are Jehovah Jireh the God who provides and I ask you to provide for me by bringing me employment.  I am only interested in the place that is honest and trustworthy as I know this would be pleasing to you.  Lord I ask you to show me the areas in my life where I may need to confess my sins so that I can bring them before you.  I don’t want anything to stand in the way of my answered prayers because I know it is Your will for me to be employed.  (Take a few minutes and confess all the sins that come to you mind now)  Show me the areas where I need to improve how I handle Your money so that I may honor You by doing so.  I pray Lord that when I receive this job, I will tithe to the church or ministry that You will call to my mind the amount which You will put in my heart.  Lord I know that You are able to supply my needs according to your glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  I pray that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! I pray that you open the doors and give me the wisdom to know where to start looking.  Bring the resources I need to prepare myself for the interviews and favor everywhere I go.  In Jesus Name. AMEN.

and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed,    whether this or that,    or whether both will do equally well.

Keep busy and get yourself out there because you never know what God will use to bring you that employment.
