A Prayer for When You’re Tired of Waiting
By Lauren Gaskill

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.” – Psalm 62:5-8

Waiting is hard. And whether you’re waiting in traffic, waiting for the seasons to change, waiting for your husband to get home from a work trip, or waiting for your dream to come true — waiting is never fun.

today prayer

I mean, seriously, who likes to wait? Who wakes up and says, “I hope I have to wait for something today?” (If you’re reading this and that’s you, please email me so we can be friends and I can learn your secret!)

All joking aside, if the majority of the world could choose between waiting and not waiting, I think we’d choose the latter. Because chances are if we’re waiting for something, that means we want it pretty bad, but we don’t have it yet.

Dear brothers and sister, I don’t know what you’re waiting on right now, but I want to invite you to draw strength not only from those who have waited before us, but from God himself.

Draw strength from the promises of God and look forward to the fulfillment of those promises. For our God is not a God of false or empty promises, but of beautiful, certain promises.

We are not alone when we wait. God is with us and He wants us to pour our hearts out to Him. He wants us to trust and find refuge in Him.

I pray that as we wait, we will hold on to these truths and we will let God’s Word renew our souls.

Whatever He has for us is worth the wait.

Lord, you are not just the God of time but the God of timing. Help me to trust You as I wait for the things I desperately want. Help me not become discouraged or depressed in this season of waiting, but help me take my place joyfully with all the saints who persevered through the wait you had for them. As we walk through this season of Advent, help me to spend time meditating on Your promise to bring our Savior into the world. Thank You for Your plan to come again and bring restoration for all things! In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

Often times we only pray when times are tough. The Prayer for Today is a prayer to be said every morning when we rise. It is a prayer to be said daily, whether times are good or bad.

How to say the Today Prayer

Say this prayer every morning before you begin your day. This will help you to focus on what is important in life as you go about your day. God, Family, Community, Charity etc…

Slowly, your life will be transformed for the better, as you commit yourself spiritually each day.

The Prayer for Today

Just for today, help me, God, to remember that my life is a gift,
that my health is a blessing, that this new day is filled with awesome potential,
that I have the capacity to bring something wholly new and unique and good into
this world.

Just for today, help me, God, to remember to be kind and patient to the
people who love me, and to those who work with me too. Teach me to see all the
beauty that I so often ignore, and to listen to the silent longing of my own soul.

Just for today, help me, God, to remember You.

Let this be a good day, God, full of joy and love.

Quranic Verse of the Day Translated in German

Shurooq is the time of sunrise, the time when the upper limb of the sun just starts to appear above the horizon. This marks the end time for Fajr (morning) prayer.

The term Qiyam-ul-layl, in the most literal sense, means to stand during the night. It is a voluntary prayer which is offered between the time of Ishaa prayer and the Fajr prayer (before dawn). But the most preferred time is before sunrise, in the last third of the night. For more information, read our article on qiyam.

The difference between Standard and Hanafi (Juristic Methods)

The only difference is in the Asr prayer. In the standard method (which is used by Imamas Shafii, Hanbali, and Maliki) the Asr prayer time starts when the shadow of an object is equivalent to its height, whereas in the Hanafi method the Asr prayer time starts when the shadow of an object is twice its height.

Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of setting the clocks forward one hour from standard time during the summer months, and back again in the fall, in order to make better use of natural strong daylight. IslamicFinder Website is adjusting daylight savings automatically according to your location.

Latitude and Longitude

To calculate the prayer times for a given location, we need to know the latitude and the longitude of your current city or town, along with the local timezone for that location. IslamicFinder is detecting longitude, latitude and timezone of your current city or town automatically. If you face any difference in prayer timings according to your current location then please confirm these latitude and longitude first. Even if you have failed or experiencing disappointment, keep going, keep pressing forward. Failure is not fatal, it is not defining. You are not a failure, you are an overcomer.  If you keep pressing forward, you will overcome.  No matter how great the fall, failure is not your destination, it happens to us all. So pick yourself up and keep going, keep trying, again and again, don’t give up. No one is immune to failure. It is the courage to continue that counts, so don’t give up now. “Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up” ~Chinese quote

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,And He delights in his way.24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24)

Even if you are struggling, keep working hard, there is hope. God is watching out for you. You don’t have to face the trials alone, call on God, call on the name of Jesus, He will carry you through.  Though you are struggling and your trial is big to you, it is not too big for God, so cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you.

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Even if you feel darkness all around you and you feel you cannot continue, you are tired, you’ve had enough, enough of pain, disappointment, adversity, failure and you don’t know where to turn, I encourage you today, keep walking there is light at the end of the tunnel. During times of adversity, put your faith in God.  He will help guide you to the path of happiness and peace.  Friends and family may not be able to help, but God is there waiting for you to turn to Him and He will carry you through the dark tunnel of life into a place of peace.  God will give you health, strength and joy in times of adversity.  He is always there, I encourage you to call on Him.  Call on the name of Jesus, He is the answer.  He will be your Light and Protector through the tough times.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

Even if you have lost everything and all hope is gone, keep standing.  The devil wants you to lose hope and he wants you to start losing faith.  When your heart has grown heavy and you feel lost, I encourage you to keep standing, do not allow the heaviness, the burden, the weight, the worries of life and anxiety to hold you back.  There is not a feeling we can have that God is not aware of.  He knows when we are hurting, lost, lonely and afraid.  When we cry out to Him, He will respond tenderly…

“Fear not, for I am with you;Be not dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Even if you are hearing negative voices, keep fighting, don’t give up.  God has a voice, a soft voice of hope and a future. The enemy also has a contrary voice, a negative voice of failure, whispers of accusation, guilt, fear and hopelessness asking you to end it all.  That is the voice of the enemy.  He wants to kill you, to steal from you and if you pay enough attention to that voice he will try and destroy you.  The voice of the enemy is yelling “Defeat!”, “Failure!” at you, robbing you of your joy in the Lord. Don’t let that “voice” ruin your life.  Don’t allow that “voice” to ruin your walk with Jesus.

There is another voice of the Holy Spirit.  It requires a lot more effort to hear.  It is not aggressive, it is a very soft voice of comfort and hope.  You have to slow down and be quiet and spend time in prayer and God’s Word so you can hear His still small voice.  Prayer will bring you closer to the Holy Spirit and you will hear His soft voice of comfort and hope. All of us hear voices, but we have a choice on who we want to listen to.  Choose to listen and believe the Voice of truth, His name is Jesus.

“Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing,And those who strive with you shall perish.12 You shall seek them and not find them—Those who contended with you. Those who war against you shall be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing.13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:11-13)

Even if everything you lay your hands on seems to slip through the net, keep going and don’t give up.

My Prayer For You

Today, I pray that the Lord will be with you, may He encourage your heart and deliver you from all the attacks of the enemy.  You are blessed.  May the blessing of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be upon you.  I pray that the Lord will give you strength to face the hard and troubled times you are currently going through.  Remember, life is all about seasons.  This season of your life will pass and you will make it to the other side.  Even though you go through the valley of the shadow of death, I pray that the Lord will be your rod and your staff, your strength, your pillar and deliverer. The dry seasons in life do not last.  The spring rains will come again.  I pray that your spring rains will come again.  You are not alone…you are not forgotten.

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,And delivers them out of all their troubles.18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,And saves such as have a contrite spirit.” (Psalm 34:17-18)

God bless you today and always.
