Spiritual warfare is real and can be devastating to our lives. Marriage is where I have personally endured spiritual warfare many times. Especially when it came to feeling defeated spiritually and mentally as a wife.
What once seemed like just a silly thought would suddenly bombard my mind with full force of negativity, which eventually damaged my self confidence and burdened relationships surrounding around me; especially my marriage.
I had to learn how to fight and rise from the habit of falling to the battles.
Through spiritual warfare, Prayer is one of the most spiritual deadliest weapons to breakthrough and conquer the battle against the enemy. Prayer brings out the authority you have in the Lord as you speak against what the devil is trying to kill. The first part of John 10:10 tells us:
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…
In marriage we can sometimes become overwhelmed with the thoughts of; “Am I a good enough wife? Am I being the wife God called me to be? Could I be prettier or more adventurous for my husband?” These and many more questions can overwhelm us. It can turn from one thought to many thoughts and if we do not get a ahold of it and stop it, these doubtful little thoughts becomes more aggressive overtime – to the point that we no longer question the wife we are, but we don’t even believe we are a godly wife.
That my friend, is what the enemy wants to do to you. The thief wants to steal and destroy your joy and confidence as a wife. It first starts the battle with a negative reflection on ourselves then the war is completed by us no longer finding our confidence in God.
The thief wants to steal and destroy your joy and confidence as a wife…. Learn how to pray through Spiritual Warfare in your marriage. Click To Tweet
When we allow doubtful thoughts of ourselves as a wife to enter into our minds over and over it then turns into a habit. A habit then turns to a lifestyle, and a lifestyle can overtake you if the lifestyle is not representing everything that is pure, honest, and noble before God. The last part of John 10:10 restores our hope by Jesus Christ reminding us:
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10
To break these thoughts we must use the power of prayer and confidence in knowing that Christ gives our marriage life. Pray to the Lord about your doubts, fears, and insecurities. Ask Him to reveal to you why you are being attacked as a godly wife. Most likely He will respond with; ‘Because the enemy hates a marriage that is serving the Lord. It makes your marriage powerful’.
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
Jeremiah 33:3
Your marriage is powerful in the Lord because two are better than one. You can lift each other up when one feels weak (Ecclesiastes 4:10). The Lord is upon you when the two of you pray together (Matthew 18:20).
As a wife your spiritual discernment and strength is vital to your marriage. When you discern an attack with negative thoughts, cease it with the strength you receive from the Lord. Remember these scriptures to gain hope and trust in why God created you to become one with your husband:
- An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. Her husband finds full confidence in her and lacks nothing. Proverbs 31:10-11
- Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. 1 Peter 3:7
- “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” Ephesians 5:31
- He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22
- House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. Proverbs 19:14
A wise women desires peace for her home. She builds her home upon the word of God. By consistently reading your word, speaking scripture over your life and the life of your marriage, you can restore, deliver, and even prevent what the enemy wants to steal from you. I encourage you to be proactive with the word of God for your marriage and for the well being of your husbands spiritual walk.

As much as he’d like to make you think he wasn’t, the Devil-Satan-Lucifer is real and at one time was the most beautiful angel ever created by God. He became obsessed with his beauty and pride, ego and selfishness set in. He believed he could actually become God and wanted the same power and worship of God. So he was cast to Earth, with what the bible says was “One third of angel left heaven” and the two thirds remained. We don’t know or have any clue how many angels God created, but we know Lucifer and his fallen ones are at work on the Earth this very minute.
Throughout history there are records of these fallen angels, who masquerade as many different things. Ghosts, Religious Icons, Oracles, and recorded throughout history and even into modern times, “indwellers” into people whose bodies become possessed by unknown spirits.
Sometimes, they simply harass you by shouting supernatural thoughts into your head, to get you to act on impulse or make knowingly bad decisions. Other times it’s when things don’t go right and strange or bad things happen to you or the ones you love- that just doesn’t make any sense. And sometimes, they manipulate others to “attack” you via words, emotions or even physically.
It can be a scary thought and hard for those to conceive if you don’t know God or if you don’t believe that God is watching over you and wants you to love and follow him. He wants you to come to him in prayer and He will send the Holy Spirit to protect you.
Once you know the source of the evil attacking, surround or trying to influence you or a loved one, there are ways of dealing with it.
First is prayer. At the bottom of these verses we’ll be suggesting a book to purchase and read from a Christian book store or online bookstore. We suggest if you’re interested in Spiritual warfare, get the book and most importantly, get involved in a good teaching Church that believes in Deliverance from spiritual bondage.
Next, what we are lining out and giving you is a self-deliverance prayer and when you pray this- believe in your heart and mind that God is acting on these words in your life here on Earth and in Heaven.
Take a moment to write down all the sins you’ve felt you’ve done in your life on one side of a sheet of paper (it doesn’t have to be super detailed)… then on the other side of the sheet of paper, right down something Good to replace it with. For example: Bad = Lying / Good = honesty and keep that paper handy for the next step.
You can pray like this…. Start with a prayer of “Thanks to God for all the Good he’s done in your life that you do know about and even the good that you don’t know about,” then ask God and Jesus to forgive you of your sins (read off the sins/bad on your paper)- and list the ones you can think of- and mention “even the sin’s I’ve done that I am unaware of.”
The next step is to rebuke, renounce and break the bondage and ties to Satan, Lucifer and the fallen Angels and Demons trying to influence you (or your loved ones) and take spiritual authority in the name of Jesus who dies and gave his blood so our sins can be forgiven… and say “I believe the promise of Jesus that my sins are forgiven and I ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God Almighty to come into my heart and fill me with peace and love.” Your prayer is almost over… next, take that piece of paper and say “ Where there was sin in my life, I believe the lord is replacing in me…” and then read the “Good” side of your paper.
After that… say, “I believe Lord in your promises of forgiveness and I am free from the wiles of Lucifer and his demons and I am protected by the Holy Spirit and Gods Army of Heavenly angels” and then Thank God for his grace and forgiveness… then read some of these bible verses below for spiritual warfare out loud… (especially Ephesians 6:10-18) and end with, “I believe I am free in the name of Jesus the Holy Spirit and God Almighty who fills my body, heart, mind, spirit and soul… Amen”
Congrats!!! You’ve just done Spiritual Warfare called “Self Deliverance”

Isaiah 59: 19
So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight .

2 Corinthians 2: 14
But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere.
2 Corinthians 10: 3-4
For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical , but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.
Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6: 11-12
Put on God’s whole armor , that you may be able successfully to stand up against the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.)
Ephesians 6: 14
Stand therefore , having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God.
Colossians 2: 15
disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it .
1 Timothy 6: 12
Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were summoned and you confessed the good confession before many witnesses.
2 Timothy 4: 7
I have fought the good (worthy, honorable, and noble) fight, I have finished the race, I have kept (firmly held) the faith.
2 Timothy 4: 18
the Lord will certainly deliver and draw me to Himself from every assault of evil. He will preserve and bring me safe unto His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen (so be it).
James 4: 7
So be subject to God. Resist the devil , and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5: 8-9
Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring , seeking someone to seize upon and devour. Withstand him; be firm in faith , knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.
1 John 4:4
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1 John 5:4-5
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Above we mentioned a book if you were interested in learning more about Deliverance and Spiritual Warfare. One of our suggested books is called “Pigs in the Parlor: The Practical Guide to Deliverance” By Frank and Ida Mae Hammond.
This is a great book for learning about the topic, some of the history on the topic, other ways of self-deliverance and also being involved in the deliverance of others (even though we’d suggest that you not try that by yourself, and have a trained pastoral staff with you- it can be dangerous for yourself and/or the other person if not done totally correctly).

Spiritual Warfare – Save Your Marriage Prayers
Fill out the Save Your Marriage prayers or Say These Prayers and Believe God Saves Marriages
Father, We at Healing Touch of God stand against divorce in every way. Help us to hate it as much as you do. Father, We acknowledge that satan is a defeated foe. He is void of any power. For Jesus conquered him and made an open show of him, humiliating him in front of all our enemies. And we as believers, have been given all power and authority over the enemy and his lies. For your Word says that all authority had been given to you and that you gave it to us. Your word says that we are co-heirs with Jesus, and that we are seated together with Him in the heavenly realms. Far above all power, principalities, authorities and the rulers of darkness in this present world and in the one to come. The enemy is under our feet. Therefore we are putting satan and all the demons of hell on notice right now that we are standing in the full authority of the Name of Jesus that was given to us and that they are loosed from their assignment against the marriage of ___________________________________ (fill in the blank with the name of the family you are praying for).
We cover this marriage with the precious blood of Jesus and we confess that this is a pure and godly marriage. That _______________________(names of the couple you are praying for) are actually one flesh, for this is written in God’s Word. We call them back to the covenant relationship with the spouse that God has placed them with. We call them back to their homes and say that they will not break covenant with the wife/husband of their youth. We break the hold that the enemy has on their mind and we bring all their thoughts captive to the lordship and obedience of Jesus Christ. We lose them to think on things which are just, lovely, pure, honest, holy and of good report. If there is any virtue, if there is any praise, these are the things they will think on.
The lies of the enemy we expose. They shall know the truth and the truth shall set them free. For it is for freedom that Christ has died, therefore they stand firm and do not allow themselves to be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Arise and shine O sleeper, for the glory of the Lord shines among you .We call _______________________ (names of the people you are praying for), to take their rightful, God-ordained place in the family. Father, we pray that their will, will line up with Your will. We pray that their spirits will be stirred up within them to be pleasing in Your eyes, Lord. Give them a burning desire to grow closer to You in every way, and teach them obedience, Lord. Save them from themselves and from their enemies. Give them eyes to see and ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is speaking to them. May their spouses and their families be always in their mind and thoughts, always before their eyes. May they think on them every waking moment and when they go to sleep. May their thoughts towards them be good, and just and may they long for them, Lord. Oh, may their hearts break at the thought of being separated from them even one more day.
Father God, we thank you ahead of time for repairing this marriage and going through save your marriage prayers in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.

Regardless of our best intentions, there will always be times when even the best marriage will experience problems and issues. Instead of running away or refusing to face these problems, we should instead run to God, who can make things right.
And since the institution of marriage is His product, it therefore makes perfect sense that the maker and designer of this great product be consulted when there’s a problem. God is the one who knows what is wrong with your marriage and how to fix it.
The power of prayer cannot be overemphasised. Prayer can repair any relationship, no matter the level of damage. It can bring spouses together, no matter how sour their relationship has gotten.
Prayer can mend any damaged bridge, clear any confusion, straighten any heart, resolve any conflict, and heal any hurt. It can bring reconciliation to your marriage.
All you have to do is call upon God. Believe in his ability to answer your prayers, and remove any doubt from your heart (Mark 11:23).
It doesn’t matter if your own situation is that of a trouble relationship; a spouse who has left the matrimonial home; infidelity; confusion; breakdown in communication, or a marriage heading towards divorce. God wants, and is able, to heal your marriage. Nothing is impossible with God.
How to Use This Prayer Guideline
God has given man free will. He will not intervene in the affairs of man by forcing him to go against his own will. Neither can we control the behavior of another person.
What God does is to bring a change of heart and mind. And what we can do is pray to God and ask Him to touch the heart and mind of our spouse.
God will go to places we cannot, and do things that we can only dream of. Use these prayers as guidelines for how to pray for the resolution of all that ills your marriage.
When making these prayers, back them up with the Word of God. Engage the power and potency of the Word against the power of the enemies (Hebrews 4:12).
Personalize these prayers by replacing the parts of the prayers with your name and that of your spouse where applicable. After making these prayers, believe that God has answered and consolidate your victory by thanking God for the changes you hoped to see and the restoration of your marriage.
Below are the seven prayers that will help you bring back your focus on God, who alone is able to permanently heal and restore your marriage.
1. Blessings on my spouse and I
Father God, I thank you for who you are and for the promises that you have made concerning me and my spouse. Your Word is ever true and your promise of blessings and multiplication that you have promised me throughout the ages (Genesis 22:17; Hebrews 6:14) is forever mine, in Jesus name.
You have promised to bless me exceedingly and it is your heart’s desire to enlarge my coast. Every satanic covenant that is going against your continual and uninterrupted blessing in this marriage, I command the rain of fire to consume them, in Jesus name. I pray against every spirit of lack and wretchedness. Oh Lord, let your peace, joy, happiness, and comfort saturate this marriage in Jesus name.
2. Remove all negativity caused by external people
Lord, I come to you with this petition because I know that you have made me one flesh with my spouse and you have said that no man should come between us (Matthew 19:6).
So I take authority over every outside influence that is polluting our marriage. Every foreign power that’s manipulating this marriage is dealt a heavy blow in Jesus name.
Oh Lord, reveal their evil agenda. Expose them and bring their plan to nought.
I pray that their seed of discord, hatred, malice, and separation that has been sown is uprooted by fire, in Jesus name.
3. No weapon formed against our marriage shall prosper
Heavenly Father, I give you all praise and adoration, because your word is ever true. I give you thanks, because no weapon that is formed against this marriage will stand (Isaiah 54:17).
I declare that every arrow shot to destabilise this marriage is broken to pieces, in Jesus name.
With the spiritual authority given to me through Christ Jesus, I command the fire of God to consume every wedge that is meant to be put between me and my spouse, through bad and ungodly advice, and false teachings.
Every evil hand of demonic manipulation is crushed, in Jesus name. I retrieve my marriage from the jaws of the evil one, in Jesus name. Thank you, Abba Father, because IT IS DONE, in Jesus name.
4. Holy Spirit work in both of us to bring us closer to God and each other
Oh Lord, I believe you are working in my life and that of my spouse to reconcile us back to to you and to each other.
Lord, stir my spouse’s thoughts with the same good and loving thoughts that existed when our love for each other was still very strong.
Let my heart and that of my spouse burn in love for you and for each other.
Lord, rekindle our love for one another. Where ever my spouse needs understanding to be drawn to you, Father give him or her that understanding.
Lord heal each one of our emotional wounds and cause our hearts to be drawn towards each other in Jesus name. Amen.
5. Re-Build Trust and Honesty
Lord, it is your will that we be reconciled together and that our love for each other will grow and blossom, no matter what has happened between us in the past.
Lord, heal our marriage of all spiritual attacks and manipulations. Let this healing start with me. Lord, have mercy on our relationship and rebuild the trust and honesty that has eluded this marriage.
Lord, I command seven-fold restoration of the trust and honesty that the evil one has stolen from us, in Jesus name.
6. Remove bitterness, anger, and all manners of negative emotions.
Lord, deliver me and my spouse from the evil spirit of unforgiveness, hatred, anger, bitterness, and abuse that is poisoning our minds and relationship. Fill up every space in our hearts with your peace, love, joy so that there’s no room for negative emotions.
Lord teach us to treat one another with dignity, love, and respect.
Lord I asked for the grace and emotional strength to avoid the use of anger and unforgiveness as a weapon to fight against my spouse. I pray that we will no longer allow our emotions to be manipulated and used to drive a wedge between us, in Jesus name. Amen.
7. Give us the strength to work through our differences
Lord, thank you for the good work that you have started in my marriage. I know that you will do mite to the end. I ask for the strength to stay courageous and strong in your promises as you work out things in our marriage.
Replace every negative feeling with love and help us to work through our differences.
Every man or woman determined to scatter thus marriage will not succeed. Their evil plans will scatter in Jesus name.
I refuse to be tempted to try other alternatives. I will not be discouraged even if it seems that nothing is happening at the moment. Your word is greater and surer than any other power. So I choose to trust in you.
