Lord, I ask in your mighty name to please heal my husband of his torn scapula and my own shoulder pain, we both suffer from the right side. My husband does not have insurance to do the surgery required for repair of torn muscle and doctor recommended to be off work for 4 to 6 weeks, but he is the main provider of the home and not able to do that. I ask for a quick healing of his torn muscle and to get healthy.

Something that has helped me overcome my fear of praying for healing is a story you might remember from Sunday School. It is a Bible story about the women who had been sick for years, a woman who risked everything to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. This was her silent prayer for healing and reaching out with her faith, a woman to whom Jesus turned and said, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” She Pleased God with her silent prayer and acting in her faith.

Was she only healed because Jesus turned and spoke life into her body? No. Jesus said “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

Here is a tough question Bible scholars like to throw out to make things more complicated then they really are: If she had cried out to Jesus with a string of pretty words, would Jesus have made her well?

Well were the string of pretty words a prayer to God asking for healing and she acted on her faith?

Then yes, I believe that she would still have pleased God with her prayers and would be healed. Because Jesus said “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” I believe that a lot of people (maybe even a huge number of people were healed in the crowed) that we never heard or read about in the Bible because it was simply not recorded due to their being so many of them and just a few Jesus’ Disciples to take note of it.

I can’t help thinking that maybe I’ve missed the point of this story over the years. Maybe this story is not about the woman having enough faith to reach out for Jesus, but now I think about God responding to her Prayer for Healing when she needed Him and God was pleased by hearing her prayers and through simple faith in God she was healed. Have I made this story about the woman’s faith rather than about the compassion of Jesus to those who cry out to him when they are hurting? Again, why is the nature of faith and prayer being almost the same thing because, God Loves You and Wants to Hear and Listen to Your Prayers!

A few year ago this became very real to me, I sat in an office where an oncologist told my Dad after fighting a good fight and winning the battles with cancer that sometimes the only thing you have to keep on fighting with is just our prayers to God and faith and hope He doesn’t call my dad home too soon. I sat there and thought about how the burden of healing sickness is never on the patient, how it is never even on a doctor, but how it is always, always, on God.

The burden of healing rests on the shoulders of our big, gracious God who is pleased to hear and listen to us when we pray.

The burden of healing falls on our God who loves us and knows the plans He has for us even when our own hopes collapse around us.

The burden of healing is in God Hand’s whose ways aren’t a faith formula, but most times a mystery we just don’t understand at that time and place in our lives.

The burden of healing doesn’t come in with us saying just the right words or praying something that sounds beautiful; even though God Loves us and He is pleased to hear and listen to our prayers. Remember that our spirit will live on forever and that nobody lives here on earth in their physical bodies forever because God will eventually call us home to be with Him in Heaven.  And I don’t know about you but that frees me up to pray a little more boldly for God to heal.

There is no doubt that the Bible is filled with accounts of Jesus’ healing miracles. When we look at the healing ministry of Jesus, we recognize the vital connection we have with it – We are His body on earth today. If you look at any of Jesus’ healing miracles, it will reveal facts about how He healed and whom He healed. Jesus did this by the Word and through the faith of those who desired His healing including the sick, those who had demons and those who were desperate and persistent. There are many questions that come up related to the ministries of healing. These questions often include does God heal everyone, why are some people not healed and whose faith is necessary for healing? While we don’t have all the answers, Scripture tells us to turn to prayer.

The Bible says, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord” (James 5:14). We also know from Scripture that we can find healing through speaking the Word to our sickness. The Bible tells us, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11:23). It’s important that we note carefully from the previous verse that we must say clearly his need. This word must be spoken confidently. If you or someone you know if facing a difficult illness or disease, it can be hard to know where to turn. Many of us want to cry out to God, but don’t know exactly what to pray. If you feel alone or afraid about the future and want to unleash God’s healing power in your life, lift up these prayers for healing:

Prayer for a Sick Person

During His earthly ministry, Jesus said many prayers for healing, miraculously causing the sick to recover. Today, Jesus continues to pour out His healing balm.
