Praying for peace and understanding

I pray for somehow, someway GOD heals us. We truly are a nation divided. All eyes are on us right now. How can this country claim to be a global leader, yet it’s overtly clear we have no respect for each other. We rush to the aide, protest, give money, rebuild, criticize, judge, reprimand every other nation. Yet look at us. Our own house is a mess. The wounds of our past, the blood and sacrifices of those before us continue to haunt us. This country was founded on pain, turmoil and violence. The cycle continues. No matter how far we go, history always manages to repeat itself if the lessons of the past are not learned. The violence is getting worse. The hate has been festering. It’s exploding right now. I believe this is only the beginning. Something needs to be done and it has to start individually. We have to ask ourselves what are we doing to make things better? Ask ourselves, am I contributing to the problem? Ask ourselves, am I willing to stand up for those who can’t stand for themselves? Or am I just going to turn a blind eye because it doesn’t effect me? We can’t continue to watch from the sidelines, then go on with our lives. This is a problem for all of us. If we can’t get the hate out of our hearts individually and find a way to show compassion for one another and find a way to respect each other and our differences… We will lose. We are losing. We are no better than any other country. These United States will turn into Israel and Palestine. Bosnia. Syria. Etc. We are humiliating ourselves and the world is watching. May GOD have mercy upon all of us.

The Bible says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

When you are stressed or broken you can turn to His word and find tranquility. Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27. Let us seek the Prince of Peace in prayer that we may have that peace that passes all understanding.

Praying for Peace

Oh Mighty and Loving Father, we come to you today to ask that you grant us peace in the middle of our raging storms.

Give us the peace we desire within our mind, body and soul, so that our hearts would not be troubled even as the gale sweeps down upon us. As the future presents its own fears, calm our storms and settle our hearts.

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Peace in the home

O Gracious Father, give us peace within our homes. Be present in the middle of our petty arguments and fights. Be present in the homes of couples suffering from emotional, physical and mental abuse.

Dear God, give us the strength and comfort within our minds so that we will have the courage and wisdom to know when and how to walk away.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Peace in my community

Give us peace, Oh Merciful Father, within our communities, our country and the world. Lord, manage the crime; the robberies, the gang wars, the rape and the overall murders.

We declare peace in our neighbourhood today! Oh Jesus, help us all, especially the families, who have recently lost loved ones; be their comforter in these difficult times.

In Jesus’ name we pray.. AMEN!!!!!

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
