Praying for a friend in need

by Belle (USA)

I have a friend who is currently at the start of the process of divorce. He is a very involved caring father. He needs prayers to help him through this. His children are being very hard on him, partially due to being pushed by his wife(their mother) to “bring daddy home”.

He has tried to explain with kindness and caring what is going on. It is hard on the children & everyday he goes through pain & guilt. They beg him to come back home. He has stayed in the marriage till he came to a point where it was taking so much out of him. He began having medical problems, serious one that were due to the years of pain and manipulation he has endured at the hands of a wife who only cares about herself & has done so many things to him, it got to the point where if he didn’t leave it would kill him.

Not to mention how it has already hurt him to the point it has killed some of him inside. Please pray for him

Lord, I come before you today knowing that all power is in Your hand. I know that you are the Lord and that you care for your people.
Right now, my friend is struggling with a difficult trial. I can see her strength is faltering, Lord, and know that you have all of the strength that she needs.
I pray that you will reach down and touch her right now wherever she is at this moment. Let your presence fill the room where she is and let her feel an extra portion of your strength that can help her to get through this day.
She needs you now, Lord, and I thank you in advance for meeting her where she is and shoring up her strength during this difficult time.
In Jesus name. Amen.
To be Grateful
Lord God, may we be grateful for our lot,
and compassionate toward all those who are
suffering every kind of distress at this
difficult time.
May we hold back nothing, and
hasten to be the ministers of prayer and mercy,
like the disciples of Him who went about doing
good in times of need.
Amen

Heavenly, Omnipotent Father, there are times in my life when I need true friends, a comforting arm, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on or even just sensible good advice.

But there are no true friends to turn to. No one who I can relate to or who truly understands exactly how I feel. It leaves me feeling broken, empty and lost.

Fill me, Lord with Your divine holy presence. Allow me to feel Your tender, warm embrace wrapped around me, as I sit here and cry out to You.

Proverbs 12:26 The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.

Proverbs 16:28 A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.

Always there for me

Father, today I can safely say that You are my best friend. You have always been there for me, to comfort, guide and correct me when I need it the most. You are always by my side.

Heavenly Father, You pick me up each and every time I have fallen by the wayside. You have never failed me and I am assured that You won’t start now.

Praying for the right people

Your undying, never-failing, never-ending love drives me to become a better person, pushes me to want to become one with You. Lord, please bring the right people into my life, who would motivate me to become closer to You and remove the wrong ones that pull me away.

Strengthen my present friendships so that they will be based on You and Your word. Renew the past friendships that have died, and let me be an example, leading my friends to the Lord. In Your Holy, Precious name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.

Proverbs 22:24–25 Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.

Is there a sweeter gift for your friends than praying the Scriptures over them?

After all, there are few things on earth more precious than friendship.

To have people in your life you can be real with. With no pretenses. No masks. No filters.

No fear of offense because they’re quick to give you the benefit of the doubt.

The ones who will tell you what you need to hear…

even if it’s not always what you want to hear.

The ones who have your back…

but at the same time don’t hesitate to hold your feet to the fire.

I’m blessed to have several people in my life who fit this description. Dearly loved friends, treasured family members who are also friends, and a cherished husband who was first (and remains to this day) my friend.

I must confess that while I pray frequently for specific needs in the lives of my friends, I have room to grow in the realm of praying the Scriptures for them.

Let’s fix that, shall we?
