We live in a world full of troubling times. We live in a world where hopes and aspirations are hardly realized. There are plenty of pressure and people facing various disappointments. As believers we also sometimes become disappointed because we are the same human, we live in the same world and we are also caught up in some of these challenges. At such times like these arises a need for prayer of encouragement and strength for myself or prayer for strength for a friend.
Let’s pray these prayers, particularly if you are presently going through any difficult time or perhaps your friend or loved one is:
- Prayer of encouragement
- Prayer of encouragement to start the day
- Prayer of encouragement and strength for myself
- Prayer for strength for a friend
Prayer of encouragement
God, so often in different situations I stand and can’t make first steps and decisions I should make. I stuck in such circumstances for a long time, so I ask your encouragement and help. Lord, please encourage me through all my life journey. Please make that I never felt fear or uncertainty. Let all my decisions will be according to your will. Don’t let me give up in any situation I face, but teach me to find the right way and right decision. Let I always feel your love and grace, your caring hand and encouraging support. Lord, encourage and guide me in all actions I take in my life. I pray you in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer of encouragement to start the day
Lord, give me a peace of mind to meet all that the next day will bring to me. Let me fully surrender to your will. God, please come and support me at any time of the day. Whatever news I receive during this day, teach me to accept them with a calm soul and firm conviction that for all your will is. In all my words and deeds, guide my thoughts and feelings. In all unforeseen circumstances, do not let me forget that everything is sent by you, my Lord. Teach me to act directly and reasonably with each member of my family, not disturbing and not upsetting anyone. Lord, give me the power to relieve the weariness of the coming day and all the events during the day. Lead my will and teach me to pray, believe, hope, tolerate, forgive and love. Lord, I need your encouragement in all I do. I pray you in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer of encouragement and strength for myself
Father of all comfort and Grace, you are the divine source of encouragement and courage, I come to you today in absolute confidence and trust in your word, I ask for strength and courage to stand in this trying time and to come out victorious.
I draw strength and comfort in my inner man by your Holy Spirit. I decree and declare that I am strengthened spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. My faith shall not grow cold, I shall finish strong, and I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. I am not of them that quit and lose out, I will trust you all, for I know that my victory is assured in Christ. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer for strength for a friend
Father, I pray for a friend going through trying times. Lord, please strengthen and encourage his/her heart. God, show him/her that is always near and caring for him/her, not allowing to stay alone in the difficult situation. Let’s his/her faith in Christ don’t shake, show him/her that these trials are for a good purpose and one day he/she come out of difficult situation giving you all the glory and praise. I pray through Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.

Why we need prayer of encouragement?
To encourage is to draw strength during crises. This prayer we say asking for strength during crises or just in difficult daily situations. Sometimes we pray these prayers not only for ourselves but also for our friends and loved ones who are in the crisis or passing difficult times.
John 16:33 says, “These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulations; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”. Peace does not suggest absence of war or crisis, it means finding strength and stability in the midst of them.
Psalm 61:1-2 also says, “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I”. Bible made it clear that we won’t go through life without challenges. As believers, we should pray a prayer of encouragement and strength in such times. Only in trusting God and praying strength will be born in our hearts to hold on till victory will come.
When you go through times that appears as if the integrity of God’s word challenged, loved ones leave and relationships threaten to break down, the Savior is a prayer away. When we pray a prayer of encouragement and strength, He does not come with explanations. He comes with His very presence, releasing peace into your heart. James 5:13 “is any afflicted among you, let him pray.”
Do you remember hymn “What a friend we have in Jesus”? He is a friend both in the good and bad times. Don’t lose your peace, refuse to bear needless pains, call on Him in prayers, and He will encourage and strengthen you and your friend’s heart. Peace will come.

A Prayer for Strength and Encouragement
By Baptist Bible Hour
The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. – Proverbs 18:10
David and his men arrived home to discover the army of Amalek had burned the city and had taken their wives and children captive. They wept until they could weep no more. The loss was overwhelming.
In their grief and frustration the men blamed David and spoke of stoning him… but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. Under God’s direction, David then led a victorious march against the Amalekites and recovered their wives and children without a single loss; but we want to give attention to David’s method of encouragement.
You may have waited for someone to come and encourage you in your night of trouble, but no one has come. So you may ask, “How can I encourage myself?” First, consider that God is still on the throne and He is your God.
There was no friend at hand to encourage David; his own men had turned against him. But when it appeared everything was lost, he turned to God for his help. He saw God as his God. He did not consider God to be at such a distance that He would not come to his rescue.
Second, remember that daybreak may be just ahead. David and his men experienced the anguish of believing their families probably had been killed, but they were all recovered safely. The old adage goes, “The darkest time of the night is just before dawn,” and dawn may soon be breaking for you.
Further, you can encourage yourself by remembering that our trials are for a good purpose. The trials themselves are burdensome and distasteful but the end is good as God teaches you more of your weakness and more of His strength.
If you find yourself in need of strength and encouragement, here is a prayer you can pray:
Lord, like David, I need your encouragement in a time of trial and anguish. Thank you that you are always on the throne, always my God, ready to save. Thank you for being the same God to me that you were to David. Thank you for always being near and always rescuing me from my fears and hurts. Lord, help me remember that daybreak might be just ahead, that this trial will not last forever. Fill me with hope that daybreak is coming and that your love will always prevail!
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

It’s been a week since John Parham successfully underwent a left lung transplant, and the J&P Cycles president continues to recuperate, growing stronger every day.
Prior to the transplant, John was using 65 to 70 percent oxygen regularly. Today he is able to function with absolutely no oxygen equipment at all. In addition, he’s able to walk and get around much better than before. The improvement is evident each day as he slowly regains his strength.
Our family is especially appreciative of the many prayers, words of encouragement and support we’ve received from friends and customers these past five months.
We would also like to thank the family of the unknown lung donor. While we do not have any details regarding the donor, we do know that two lives were saved as a result of this gift. Both John and another patient received the gift of life from this one unselfish donor. In addition to his love of motorcycles, John has now added support of organ transplant programs to his long list of passions. If you haven’t already done so, please consider signing up to be an organ donor. Not everyone is as lucky as John in receiving a vital transplant. About 18 people die each day in this country because there are not enough organs available for transplant.
For more information on organ donation, visit www.organdonor.gov.
While this success of John’s transplant is great news for all of us, his journey continues with the possibility of John’s body rejecting his new lung. He is being closely monitored and receiving anti-rejection medication on a daily basis. Our hopes are that John’s left lung will sustain him and return to him the quality of life he had prior to his illness in March.
Again, thanks to everyone for your prayers! We love you all and we never could have made it on this journey without all of your support!
