Since praying for our wives is EXTREMELY important, especially when we’re standing for marriage restoration, Proverbs 21:1 is VERY reassuring because it says The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. And we can’t let ANYTHING we see or hear convince us otherwise; even our wives’ own actions and words because Jeremiah 10:23 tells us I know, O LORD, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps. That’s confirmed again in Proverbs 16:9, which says In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Proverbs 20:24 even says A man’s steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way? So speak the Word of God and life into the restoration of your marriage and use the following restoration prayers to release God’s awesome power to save, mold and transform your wife into the godly woman you desire as you stand in faith and obedience on the power and promise of His Word for the full restoration of your marriage and family.
A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:20-21 That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who brings into existence what didn’t exist before.
Romans 4:17 (NLT) Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2
Dear Lord, I give you praise and honor that _____’s mind is steadfast because she trusts in You, and that You will always keep her in perfect peace. Isaiah 26:3
And I thank You that she will always listen to You and live in safety and at ease, without fear of harm or evil. Proverbs 1:33
I give You praise, Lord, that _____ is blessed, and does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. Thank You that she delights in Your law and meditates on Your Word day and night, and that she is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. And thank You that whatever she does prospers.
Psalm 1:1-3
I thank You, Lord, that _____ does not forget what Your Word teaches and that she keeps Your commands in her heart, prolonging her life for many years and bringing her prosperity. Thank You that love and faithfulness never leave her because they are bound around her neck and written in her heart. Thank you for always blessing her with favor and a good reputation, and that she trust in You with all her heart and does not rely on her own understanding. I thank You that she acknowledges You in all her ways and that You make her path straight. Proverbs 3:1-6
Thank You, Lord, that my wife accepts Your Word and stores up Your commands in her heart, and turns her ear to wisdom and applies her heart to understanding. Thank You that she calls out for insight and understanding; looking for it as for silver and searching for it as for hidden treasure. And I give praise that she understands the fear of You, LORD, and finds Your knowledge because You give wisdom, and from Your Word comes knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:1-6
So she will always understand what is right and just and fair, and she understands every good path. May wisdom and knowledge always be in her heart and pleasant to her soul, and may discretion and understanding always protect and guard her.
Proverbs 2:9-11
Father, may _____ always keep Your commands and never forsake Your teaching. Bind them upon her heart forever; fasten them around her neck. When she walks, let them guide her; when she sleeps, let them watch over her; when she awakes, let them speak to her. For Your commands are a lamp, Your teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life; keeping her from the immoral man, from the smooth tongue of the wayward husband. Let her not lust in her heart after his beauty or let
him captivate her with his eyes, for he would reduce her to a loaf of bread, and the adulterer would prey upon her very life. Proverbs 6:20-26
And I thank You that Your wisdom saves my wife from the ways of wicked people, from anyone whose words are perverse, who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways. And thank You that it saves her from the adulterer, from a wayward husband with seductive words, who has left the partner of his youth and ignored the covenant he made before You. He would lead her down to destruction because none who go to him return or attain the paths of life. Therefore, I thank You for leading my wife to walk in the ways of godly women and keeping to the paths of the righteous.
Proverbs 2:12-20
Thank You, Lord, that _____ will always respond to Your rebuke, and that You pour out Your heart to her and make Your thoughts known to her. Thank You that she never rejects You when You call, and that she always gives heed when You stretch out Your hand. Thank You that my wife does not ignore Your advice or fail to accept Your rebuke, and that You will never laugh if she experiences disaster, or mock if calamity overtakes her.
Proverbs 1:23-26
Thank You, Lord, for filling my wife with the knowledge of Your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding, and that she lives a life worthy of You and pleases You in every way. And thank You that she is bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of You, being strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might, and for her great endurance and patience. Thank You that she joyfully gives thanks to You, Lord, because You have qualified us to share the inheritance in Your kingdom of light. You have rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son You love, in Whom we have redemption and forgiveness of our sins. For by Him all things were created, all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, all things were created by Him and for Him. Colossians 1:9-16
For this reason, I kneel before You, Father, and pray that out of Your glorious riches, You will strengthen _____ with power through your Spirit in her inner being, so that Christ will dwell in her heart through faith. And I pray that she, being rooted and established in Your love, will always grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that she may be filled to the measure of all of Your fullness. Now to You who are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within us, to You be glory in the church and in our marriage, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21

Commitment is hard to honor when marriage doesn’t feel like love. There are undoubtedly unsafe situations that require immediate escape through the Father’s guidance. But for many, marriage slowly fades into an agreement on paper.
Prayer removes the sharp edge of sadness, and restores life to hopeless marriages.
1. Seek God first.
God said, “It’s not good for man to be alone,” (Genesis 2:18) but He never said we couldn’t survive without marriage. Jesus died so the void of every earthly relationship could be filled by the reciprocal love we are wired to crave from our Father in heaven. Sometimes the riff in our marriage is caused from a lack of time in His presence.
2. Build up from the hurt.
“Suffering produces perseverance,” Paul said in Romans 5:3. Our trials produce strength when we navigate them in honesty with God, ourselves, and our spouses. The timely anguish inside a marriage can fester and destroy, unless we choose to see the opportunity for growth in every hurt.
3. Come to God with your sorrows in prayer.
“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9). Honest prayer is a powerful weapon. God honors our transparency when we come to Him in hopeless moments. When we seek His will over ours, God promises to mend our hearts.
Please pray with me:
Father, You are powerful to seek us out individually when we cry to You. Marriage is a gift and a treasure, perfectly designed by You and executed by us. Praise You for Your patience to hear us when we cry and comfort us when we want to give up.
“Till death do us part” seems like an eternity when it’s crumbling. We did not expect “for worse” to mean “overlooked” by the man who stood at the end of the aisle. Tears aren’t so sweet when they fall decades into the same struggles. Help us hold on tight to the promise that You love us infinitely more than our husbands every could. We praise You for proclaiming the impossible over our lives when we feel hopeless and forgotten.
Turned down pictures hide smiles of unkept promises, but happy memories keep our hearts from imploding under the strain of fading friendship. Forgive us for the blessings we take for granted in our marriages. Homes, children, pets, family, shared meals, vacations, laughter, and the blessed day we all said, “I do.” Thank you for giving us someone to share jokes, mourn loss, take adventures and raise little lives with.
When we acknowledge that You love us infinitely more than our spouse is obliged, our expectations are blessed. Bless us to know the difference between intentional hurt and mistaken words. Forgive us for holding our husbands accountable for a love that we can only receive from You, Father. A love that sent Jesus to the cross to pay for our sins.
The world surrounds us with reminders of lonely people. And though we sometimes feel alone in married life, we are not. You have blessed us with another person to walk through this life with. There are many hard times, but also many good. Thank You for the blessings You bestow on our lives. You did not build this world on fading feelings, and those moments that crumble upon our backs are fleeting. Our enemy prowls, seeking to destroy. Uphold us under attack, and stir our hearts to run to You in prayer for the survival of our marriages.
Father, there are wives in dangerous situations all over the world tonight. Much more than arguments and loneliness, they battle abuse of all kinds. Please be with those women in a special way as we pray today and strengthen them to run to you for deliverance from their pain. Bless these women that suffer with the courage they need to seek shelter from fear and life-threatening situations. Move their hearts to cry out to You for rescue, knowing in faith that You hear them, Lord.
Father, You are love. We are not. Help us to remember that it’s not our job to get it right all of the time. We are created in Your image but we are not You and cannot love, or receive love, perfectly. Bless our marriages with a camaraderie of seeking You above each other, in trust that You hear us, love us, and are capable of the impossible. Send Your Spirit to guide us in daily prayer for our husbands and our marriages. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
