Pope Francis’ Jubilee Year of Mercy Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ,
you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father,
and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him.
Show us your face and we will be saved.
Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money;
the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things;
made Peter weep after his betrayal,
and assured Paradise to the repentant thief.
Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman:
“If you knew the gift of God!”
You are the visible face of the invisible Father,
of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy:
let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified.
You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness
in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error:
let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God.
Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing,
so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord,
and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor,
proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed,
and restore sight to the blind.
We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy,
you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer for Mercy and Help
Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down,
That the mountains might quake at Your presence—
As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil—
To make Your name known to Your adversaries,
That the nations may tremble at Your presence!
When You did awesome things which we did not expect,
You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence.
For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear,
Nor has the eye seen a God besides You,
Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.
You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness,
Who remembers You in Your ways.
Behold, You were angry, for we sinned,
We continued in them a long time;
And shall we be saved?
For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
There is no one who calls on Your name,
Who arouses himself to take hold of You;
For You have hidden Your face from us
And have delivered us into the power of our iniquities.
But now, O Lord, You are our Father,
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all of us are the work of Your hand.
Do not be angry beyond measure, O Lord,
Nor remember iniquity forever;
Behold, look now, all of us are Your people.
Your holy cities have become a wilderness,
Zion has become a wilderness,
Jerusalem a desolation.
Our holy and beautiful house,
Where our fathers praised You,
Has been burned by fire;
And all our precious things have become a ruin.
Will You restrain Yourself at these things, O Lord?
Will You keep silent and afflict us beyond measure?
– Isaiah 64

A Prayer to be a Vessel of Mercy
Heavenly Father, thank You that by Your Holy Spirit You have bestowed on each of Your children different spiritual gifts, (or just one special gift..) that by Your grace is to be used for the encouragement and edification of the whole body of Christ. Thank You Lord for the way that You have gifted each of us in a very special and precious way, enabling us..by Your grace, to make a unique contribution, to the furtherance of Your plans and purposes in the body of Christ – that HE is all in all. Father, You have given me a special heart of love toward my brothers and sisters in Christ.. and although I am not gifted to teach, or to carry out some of the more overt gifts of the Spirit, I do wonder if You are developing in me the precious gift of encouragement, mercy and love towards my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Lord I pray that if You are taking me down this route, that You would use me as a sanctified vessel, that not only to pour out mercy and love without measure on other people, but that You would use me to encourage others to show the same mercy and forgiveness to their brothers and sisters in the body of Christ – and in the wider world beyond. Lord I know that in and of myself I have nothing that commends me for this special ministry of mercy and edification, for I know that without Christ I can do nothing – but praise God that in Christ I can do all things – for He gives me the strength. May I be pliable clay in the Potter’s hand and permit You to shape me into the person that You would have me be and use me in Your way and in Your time to Your praise and glory, in Jesus name I pray,
Amen

Prayer of Thanks For God’s Mercy
Dear Father God, I praise and thank You for Your loving-kindness and great mercy which is new every morning and remains steadfast and sure throughout the day – to strengthen and hold. Thank You for the glory of the cross.. knowing that I was a estranged from Your heart of love and an outcast from the kingdom of heaven. Words cannot describe the wonderment that You sent Your only begotten Son to come to earth as a Man – and to live a life of rejection and sorrow, and to suffer and die for me on the cross of Calvary – so that I might be forgiven of all my sins and live with You eternally in heaven.
Thank You Father that although I was unworthy to approach You glorious throne, and enslaved in the kingdom of darkness, yet in Your mercy and grace You stooped down to me and lifted me out of the Satan’s bondage and from the cesspit of sin, and seated me together with Christ in heavenly places and showered me with Your undeserved grace and favor. Thank You that I am now one of Your redeemed children, in Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen

God’s Mercy
Merciful Lord, it does not surprise me that you forget completely the sins of those who repent. I am not surprised that you remain faithful to those who hate and revile you. The mercy which pours forth from you fills the whole world. It was by your mercy that we were created, and by your mercy that you redeemed us by sending your Son. Your mercy is the light in which sinners find you and good people come back to you. Your mercy is everywhere, even in the depths of hell where you offer to forgive the tortured souls. Your justice is constantly tempered with mercy, so you refuse to punish us as we deserve. O mad Lover! It was not enough for you to take on our humanity; you had to die for us as well.

Lord god I come before you once again broken hearted by words that has been said about me, dear God who sees and knows everything, I beg you to give me the strength to be strong, not to fight against my evil doers but to open my heart and feel nothing but pity for them for I believe dear God they know not what they doeth with their wicked evil tongues, they open their mouth and fire their lies towards me, Lord God let this pass over give me the honour, the pride, the love, the guidance and the strength to forgive them and their deceitful ways, Lord I have done them no wrongs but their evil tongues wag against me without cause.
Dear God I am here, I know you see the tears that flows from my eyes, they are not tears of joy but tears of hurt and pain, not by beating but my words, have mercy on my family dear God as they no not what they have done, dear Lord I beg you to open the door and show them the light of what they have done, the pain they have caused me, the hurt that I am feeling, the sword that pierced my heart just like the words they utter against me, dear Lord have mercy on them, bless them dear Lord and guide them as they need your presence in their lives. In Jesus Christ our saviour mother Mary hold me hand and never let go. AMEN

Sometimes we have dark periods in our life, when we feel totally lost. We feel that we are sinners and even can’t dream about asking God for His mercy. But our God is merciful and loving and one of the biggest sins is to hesitate and deny His mercy. We can’t hesitate in Divine mercy even in situations when we have committed a mortal sin. God mercy is boundless. We need to say divine mercy prayer with the deep faith in our hearts and ask “Lord, have forgiveness and mercy on me!” And we will receive His mercy and forgiveness answer, also peace to our hearts.
Divine Mercy Prayer
Oh God of all mercy, I pray you today for mercy over my life, family, ministry, career. I walk with you, let your sure mercy surround me. Do not leave me to myself, Lord let your mercy frees me out of every tight situation. Lord, have mercy on me a sinner. In Jesus name, Amen.
Bible says in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him”. So we don’t need to hesitate on God’s intentions regarding us. He gave to us the biggest gift – His Son to save us from death and to give us eternal life. We need to recognize that we are only weak people, who can’t stay on the right way without the help and support of God. We never deserve God’s mercy as our nature is sinful, but we must never stop believing and praying divine mercy prayer.
Why we Need to Pray “Lord, have Forgiveness and Mercy on Me”?
Divine mercy prayer is a prayer that every believer should pray since we are not perfect beings and need for God’s support and mercy in any situation.
“Oh satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days” (Psalm 90: 14).
God mercy is crucial to our salvation as Ephesians 2:4-6 say “But God who is rich in mercy, for his great love, wherewith he loved us….”. So the divine mercy and forgiveness are an essential part of our walk with God, we can’t rely only on ourselves and our efforts.
Believing in God’s mercy and asking for it is the only way to reach the eternal life. We must to live according God’s will. Jude 1:21 says, “Keep yourself in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ into eternal life”. You’d love to daily pray for mercy as a believer.
There are a number of circumstances where we need the divine mercy prayer
One of such occasions is when we sin against God. Bible says, if we cover our sins, we shall not prosper. By confessing our sins and saying prayer for mercy forgiveness comes. As much as sin is not a lifestyle for the believer, but the Bible says “if” we sin, there is a place for mercy, (not because we deserve forgiveness, but because He is all merciful and that we may fear Him). Psalm 130:4 says, “But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared”.
David in Psalms 51:1 prayed (after committing the sin of adultery and murder) “Have mercy upon me, o God according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions”.
Also, we say the divine mercy prayer during challenging times. At such times when even our good works cannot save us, we cry for mercy. “The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses” (Psalms 25:17).
David prayed for God’s mercy several times when he was afflicted and troubled by king Saul, and the above psalm was one of such times, and in all of these hard times, the Lord God showed him mercy and bailed him out.
Daily prayer points for mercy and forgiveness
- Prayer to God for forgiveness of sins
- Pray for forgiving others
- Prayer to forgive for yourself
Noteworthy is the fact that the prayer of divine mercy is a prayer for the “weak” and not the “strong”. We know fully well that outside of God, we are just nothing, there are no strong people, His strength is perfect in our weakness. For folks who are not ‘all-powerful’, (nobody is all-powerful but God) we have learned how to draw strength from God always. “Have mercy upon me O LORD, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are vexed” (Psalms 6:2).
So ask God for mercy daily, knowing well that each day you live is just gift by His mercy. Lamentations 3:22 says, ”It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed…” There are no achievers in the kingdom, we are all receivers. A cry for mercy God will not deny.

Lord Jesus Christ, Eternal and Merciful God,
Creator and Redeemer of all, listen to my prayer.
For the love Thou doth bear to those who ask forgiveness,
look on me with mercy, as once Thou didst look on Mary Magdalen,
and on Peter who denied Thee.
Look on me, Lord Jesus Christ, as Thou didst looked at the thief on his cross
and on every sinner whom Thou hast ever forgiven.
Look on me, Merciful Lord, as Thou didst look on Thy Mother, Mary,
standing in sorrow beneath Thy Cross.
Let me feel in my heart her compassion for Thee,
and let my eyes weep for Thy sorrows, caused by my sinful life.
Call me back from the darkness to my Father’s house, give me a new heart
and a place at Thy side in the banquet Thou hast prepared for me. Amen.
Hail, Mary, my joy, my glory, my heart and my soul!
Thou art all mine through thy mercy, and I am all thine.
But I am not thine completely enough.
Destroy in me all that may be displeasing to God.
Place and cultivate in me everything that is pleasing to thee.
Amen.
