Prayers for healing after death of a loved one

All our times are in Thy hand.
All diseases come at Thy call, and go at Thy bidding.
Thou redeemest our life from destruction, and crownest us with loving kindness and tender mercies. We bless Thee, that Thou hast heard prayer, and commanded deliverances for our friend and Thy servant, who has been under Thine afflicting hand.
He (or she) was brought low, but Thou hast helped him (her). May he (she) not only live, but declare the works of the Lord!
As Thou hast delivered his eyes from tears, his feet from falling, and his soul from death, may he daily inquire:What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits towards me,and resolve to offer unto Thee the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and to call upon the name of the Lord.
May we ever remember that recovery is only a reprieve and that some day we will go to our rest in the Lord. May we therefore secure the righteous path and live with eternity ever in our view.

Times of sorrow and grief come and go. We have either lost a loved one or know someone who is grieving the death of a loved one. Where do we turn for comfort? Are you the type that would prefer to be left alone to retreat into your own feelings? Or are you more inclined to call your friends and family for support? Do people call you for comfort? Where does healing come from?

I have been on the receiving end of prayers for healing after the death of a loved one. What do I do now? What if my family needs comforting? Would I be strong enough to offer support? The strength I had, the ability to deal with difficult situations, can only be the grace of God at work in me. Had I not been honest and willing to share my pained heart, I may not have experienced those answers to prayer. My healing came from God. If you have recently lost a loved one or want to help someone in their pain, I hope these biblical prayers will encourage you and bring comfort and healing to your life and those close to you. Pray them and allow the Lord’s love to surround you and give you hope.

“I know that if I come near to You, God, You will come near to me. And I want to draw closer to You because You love me more than I can ever imagine and have promised to never leave me.” James 4:8; Hebrews 13:5

“Please turn to me during this lonely time, Father. Thank You for Your grace and Your power, which reassure and calm me. Help me to receive your unfailing love as my comfort.” Psalm 25:16; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Psalm 119:76

“Dear Lord, if these hurting people have not called on You before, may they begin calling on Your name right now; may they find You to be their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in their time of grief.” Genesis 4:26; Psalm 46:1

Prayers for healing after the death of a loved one have been significant in my life and I have seen the Lord work as a result. If you are hurting, I trust you will seek the help and support you need first from God, then from others who will pray for your healing. If you know someone who is in pain from the death of a loved one, I encourage you to pray for their healing as well.

prayers for healing after death of a loved one

“Dear Heavenly Father,

The wonderful gifts of life are the people you have allowed us to love and be loved by.

I have lost a person very dear to my heart and my heart is heavy with the grief from this loss.  As you know, each person is a unique creation that is irreplaceable.

Lord, as I think of the memories that will tie me to this person forever, please help me to see past this pain.  Let the love that has made this loss so hard never die.  I know my heart is capable of loving much, if it is capable of this kind of pain.

Will you help my heart to share this love again?  Open new friends and people into my life. I know that they will never replace my dear one.  But, my heart has a lot of love to share and that will not end with the death of ____________.

Show me how to deal with my grief in the best way you see fit. Help me to continue to reach through to others through my pain.  Draw closer to me as I lean closer to you.  You are Jehovah Rappha, the God that heals broken hearts.

Right now the pain is so intense. It feels as if my heart will never beat the same again.  Give me hope, Lord.  I need your presence to fill my heart, my home and lift this depression.

Cradle me in your arms as I go to bed at night.  I am having a hard time sleeping.  Give me complete shalom in every way.

In Jesus’ precious name, I come to you as my comforter, my healer and my peace.  Amen.”

Prayer should never be a substitute for receiving medical attention.  If you, or someone you love is experiencing suicidal thoughts or harmful tendencies towards themselves or other individuals, please help them contact a qualified physician in addition to praying for them. www.shalombewithyou.com does not assume any responsibility for any personal decisions or choices made by it’s readers.

“All our times are in Thy hand. All diseases come at Thy call, and go at Thy bidding.”

We all have someone in our lives who is in need of healing. Whether it be physical or spiritual, healing is needed by almost everyone in some measure — because we live in a fallen world and suffer the painful consequences of sin.

God allows difficulties to occur, knowing that he is able to work them together for our greater good, though it is not always easy to see this at first. At the same time, God is a God of healing and will often extend his healing touch when he hears our cries and prayers, delivering us from the suffering we endure.

Just as he healed many during his life on earth, he continues to heal countless souls from his heavenly throne. Below is a simple yet powerful prayer for the healing of a loved one.

All our times are in Thy hand. All diseases come at Thy call, and go at Thy bidding.

Thou redeemest our life from destruction, and crownest us with loving kindness and tender mercies. We bless Thee, that Thou hast heard prayer, and commanded deliverances for our friend and Thy servant, who has been under Thine afflicting hand.He (or she) was brought low, but Thou hast helped him (her). May he (she) not only live, but declare the works of the Lord!As Thou hast delivered his eyes from tears, his feet from falling, and his soul from death, may he daily inquire: What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits towards me, and resolve to offer unto Thee the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and to call upon the name of the Lord.May we ever remember that recovery is only a reprieve and that someday we will go to our rest in the Lord. May we therefore secure the righteous path and live with eternity ever in our view.
