Pray for My Grandsons
Pray for my grandsons that they make the right choices in life
and that they study hard in order to get a good education.
Please guide Dazan as he starts his first year of
college and away from home.
Dear Jesus, protect him and help him with school.
I also pray that he comes back home
to visit with his family that loves him unconditionally.
Dear Jesus, guide him today. Thank you Jesus.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, Full of Grace,
The Lord Is with thee,
Blessed art thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus;
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners … now,
And at the hour of our death.
Amen.

You are with me night and day.
I want to love you always, In all I do and say.
I’ll try to please you, Father.
Bless me through the day.

Jesus, keep me all this day.
When at school and when at play;
May I do the things I ought,
May I hate each evil thought;
Help me love and trust in Thee
Now and through eternity.
Amen.
I thank Thee, Lord, for sleep and rest,
For all the things that I love best,
Now guide me through another day
And bless my work and bless my play.
Lord, make me strong for noble ends,
Protect and bless my loving friends;
Of all mankind good Christians make.
All this I ask for Jesus’ sake.
Amen.

O Angel of God, my Guardian dear,
to whom God’s love commits me here.
Ever this day, be at my side
to light, to guard, to rule, to guide.

Now the light has gone away;
Jesus, listen while I pray.
Asking Thee to watch and keep
And to send me peaceful sleep.
Jesus, Saviour, wash away
All that has been wrong today;

Good and gentle, more like Thee.
Let my near and dear ones be
Always near and dear to Thee.
O bring me and all I love
To Thy happy home above.
Amen.

For all the blessings of the light:
O Keep me, keep me, King of kings,
Beneath Thine own almighty wings.

Almighty God, We give You thanks for all Your benefits goodness and graces, which we have received through Christ Our Lord.

An act of faith
O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in three Divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; I believe that Thy Divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.
Amen.
An act of hope
O my God, relying on Thy almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
Amen.
Prayer to The Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. And kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth. Lord, by the light of the Holy Spirit, you have taught the hearts of your faithful. In the same Spirit, help us to relish what is right and always rejoice in your consolation.We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
An act of charity
O my God, I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.
Amen.
The act of contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee. And I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of Heaven, and the pains of Hell but,most of all, because I love Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.
Amen.
Our Father
Our Father, who art In heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass Against us
And Lead us not Into temptation
But deliver us from evil
Amen

Several years ago, I found a precious letter in my family’s archives. My great-grandfather in Poland wrote to my grandfather, who had immigrated to America. One line in the letter struck me with both comfort and conviction: “I faithfully pray for you, for your children, and for your future generations.”
I am one of those grandchildren. Before I was born, my great-grandfather prayed for me from halfway around the world. That comforts me.
I was also convicted by my great-grandfather’s letter. How do my prayers shape my twelve grandchildren’s lives? How can I learn to pray effectively for them?

“To pray for our loved ones is a sweet duty.”
– C.S. Lewis
Create your own list of spiritual goals for children and grandchildren and alphabetize them. These are mine and I am glad to share them with you. Our lists could be very different, because each of our children and grandchildren are unique.
A – Acknowledge: In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:6 KJV Lord, I pray that my grandchild will acknowledge and submit to you in all areas of life. May each of our grandchildren look to you daily for direction and help and willingly follow you.
B – Believe: Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. John 20:29 NIV Lord, I pray that my grandchild will believe in you even though they have not seen you. May they be one of the millions who are blessed because of their faith. I ask, Father, that you would strengthen our grandchild’s faith today.
C – Cares: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. I Peter 4:7 NIV Lord, may each experience of life reinforce my grandchild’s belief that you care for them. May they learn to depend upon you as a child depends on a kind and generous parent. I pray that they will not needlessly carry burdens of anxiety but will instead trust you to provide for each need.
D – Delight: Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 NIV I pray that my grandchild will delight in your presence. Over the years, may they increasingly be aware of how wonderful and good you are and may they enjoy their relationship with you more and more. Teach them to enjoy nature, food, family, friends, service and your word as good and kind gifts from a delightful God.
E – Everlasting: From everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children. Psalm 103:17 NIV Heavenly Father, I pray that my grandchild will fear and reverence you. May they have great reverence for your name. And, may they experience the everlasting love that is a blessing to all those who fear God. May each succeeding generation of our family love and fear you and experience your great righteousness and justice.
F – Forgive: Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. Matthew 6:12 NIV I pray that my grandchild will come to you for forgiveness. We are grateful for the complete forgiveness we find in Jesus. I pray as well that you will give them each a heart of flesh that forgives easily and has the ability to let go of past hurts and pains while offering others the same forgiveness you have given them.
G – Good: The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. Nahum 1:7 Lord, I believe the most deadly temptation in life is the temptation to doubt your goodness. Please work in my grandchild’s life in such a a way that they will see your goodness everywhere they look. During the painful moments of life, may they see you as a refuge and source of care. May they never doubt your goodness.
H – Hope: Guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all the day long. Psalm 25:5 NIV Lord, my grandchild needs hope in this often painful world. Thank you for the hope we find in Jesus. Guide and teach my grandchild until they are able to hope in you all the day long.
I – Infinite: Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. Psalm 147:5 NIV I pray that my grandchild will understand, as much as is humanly possible, that you are great, infinite, limitless and unsearchable. May they praise your transcendent greatness and infinite love while realizing that this same infinite God took on flesh and came to dwell among us.
J – Justice: He has shown you O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 NIV Lord, may my grandchild learn about justice and live a just life, love mercy and walk humbly with you. Work in their heart so that they will reject favoritism and hate oppression. May their justice be tempered with mercy and humility and may you be pleased with them.
K – Know: Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 NIV Lord, quiet my grandchild. Teach them to be still and to listen for you. In the stillness may they come to a fuller understanding of who you are and may they exalt you in the earth.
L – Love: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your strength and with all of our mind; and love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27 NIV Heavenly Father, I know that loving you and loving others is the fulfillment of your plan for my grandchild’s life. Give my grandchild a heart of love for you so that they may love you with all that is in them. And, may they make it their life’s goal to love others well.
M – Mercy: Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7 NIV Father of mercy, thank you for the mercy you show us each day. Please help my grandchild to be open to your mercy and to have a desire to share that mercy with others. May they earn a reputation as a merciful person.
N – Nothing: For I am convinced that neither death nor life neither angels nor demons nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38, 39 NIV Father in moments when you seem far away, speak to my grandchild’s heart and remind them that nothing can ever undo their relationship with you.
O – Open: Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person and they with me. Revelations 3:20 NIV Lord, may my grandchild respond to the Holy Spirit’s call to open every door of their life to you and your presence. May they enjoy a close and intimate relationship with you. Conquer any fear or resistance to allowing you to come into their inner life and take control.
P – Peace: Peace I leave you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 NIV Lord, I believe that you do want your children to have peace. My prayer is that my grandchild will experience your peace. May they learn to not be troubled and anxious but instead to turn to you in faith and find peace as they look to your love and care.
Q – Quiet: He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters. Psalm 23:2 NIV Lord, your green pastures and quiet waters are places of rest, refreshment and nourishment. I pray that my grandchild will stay close to the shepherd and find those places of refreshment and health. Please care for their hearts and souls in the way that only the Good Shepherd can.
R – Repent: This is what the Sovereign Lord the Holy One of Israel says: In repentance and rest is your salvation. Isaiah 30;15 NIV Lord, we all come to your table of grace by the same path- the path of repentance. May my grandchild not resist the way of repentance and may they turn their back on sin and turn their face toward you. May they embrace repentance as a good thing and not a negative one.
S – Serve: For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45 NIV Father, in a world that disdains servanthood, I pray that my grandchild will be counter culture and will learn the joy of serving others. May their focus be not only on their own needs but on the needs of others. Grant them the humility and strength that are necessary to serve the way Jesus does.
T – Truth: Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. John 8:32 NIV Lord, I pray that my grandchild will embrace the truth of your word and the concept that Jesus is THE TRUTH. May the knowledge of the truth – that God exists, that Jesus is the Savior, that they are made in the image of God, they they are loved by Almighty God, that they are forgiven, that they are here for a purpose – set them free from sin, doubt, fear and selfishness and self-loathing. I pray that my grandchild will embrace the truth and live as a free person.
U – Understanding: For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weakness but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:15 NIV Lord, thank you for coming to earth and experiencing the same temptations and trials that we face. Thank you for identifying with our pain and sorrows. May my grandchild grasp the concept that you understand and care and find comfort and strength in that.
V – Victory: But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:57 NIV Lord, there is such joy in the thought of your resurrection and victory of sin and death. I pray that my grandchildren will understand the depth of what you have done and that they will keep their eye on the prize.
W – Worship: God is spirit and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 NIV Lord, my deepest hope and prayer is that my grandchild will give you the worship that you seek – authentic, truthful and wholehearted worship. May they sincerely engage in worship and may they come to you with humble and open hearts.
