Anxiety and stress can really get the best of us sometimes. The more we dwell on the bad things, the worse we feel energy wise and health wise. Here are 8 prayers that you can pray in different situations of life’s troubles and problems.
Dear Omnipotent Father, the Almighty, all powerful God, give me strength today through all of my health issues. I pray that You will eradicate the diseases plaguing me this day. I feel weak and useless. You have the power to do as You please gracious Father, and I pray that Your will be done. If You will that my back pain goes away or stays, I will obey You, Lord. If You will that my migraines get stronger or go away, I will love and honor You this day. Amen.
Gracious, Heavenly Father, You already know the worries on my heart. I pray that You will give me the peace that passes all understanding in the trials that are ahead. I am scared about what the future holds in my career, family and finances. I give these worries to You Father and ask that You will carry me through this difficult time. Your agape love surpasses all love that I could possibly give. I thank You and praise You for Your patience with me. I love you Father! Amen.
Father in heaven, I fear for the doors that may be closing in my life. I have a good job, but the company is cutting back. I pray that if I am fired that You will open a new door for me. I pray that You will provide me the exact outlet You want me to be in to do Your will. I pray that You will provide me a job that will still pay for my mortgage and feed my spouse and children. You are gracious Father, and I have experienced many blessings from You in my life. I am thankful for all that You have done for me. Amen.
Holy God in heaven, I come to you now with a heavy heart. You already know that I have been screened for skin cancer and You already know the results. I pray Father that the results will give me a clean bill of health. But if they don’t, I pray Lord that you would free me of this disease and heal me completely. I will obey You Father no matter what. You are omniscient and know what is best for me; that is why I love You so much. I praise Your Name, O Holy God! Amen.
Lord, I am scared about the bills this week Father. I was not expecting the car to break down requiring $800 in repairs. Lord I don’t know how I am going to make it this month. I pray that You would provide me necessary means to make up the extra money in side work. If not side work, I pray that You will provide the money somehow. I trust in You completely Father and I will declare your grace and mercy because You are good, Lord. You are faithful. You are abounding in love! I love you, Father! Amen.
Salvation for Loved ones
Father, You know the agony I am in over my brother. He refuses to believe in You and I am scared that he may never. Lord, please give me an opportunity to talk with him when he will actually listen. I don’t want to be in heaven without him Father. I love him so much! Please hear my distress and anguish! My heart is breaking for him every single day that goes by. I pray that he will receive salvation, Lord, no matter from who tells him the gospel. In Jesus is life and I want so badly for my brother to experience the life-changing power of the cross. I love You, Abba, Father! Amen.
The Thorns in my Flesh
Oh patient Father, I am so thankful that You love me. Lord, I pray that you will help me to be patient with my co-workers that defile Your Name every single day. Lord, I pray that You will soften their hearts to receive the message of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. I cannot stand hearing them speak Your name in vain, Father. I pray that You will fill me with overwhelming joy that I can sustain the depravity that is before me. You are amazing, Father, for being patient for as long as You have with all of mankind. I pray that I will be patient with the mankind that I come in contact with on my short time here on earth. You are worthy of all praise! Amen.
Lord, you know my situation. I want so badly for You to bring a suitable mate into my life. Lord, I love You with all of my heart and I want a partner that feels the same way. I do not want to be unequally yoked and I pray that You will give me discernment to know when to run away and when to stay. I will continue faithfully in obeying You, Father, no matter the outcome. You know what is best for me and I will gladly follow where You lead me with my anxiety over this issue. I love You, Father! Amen.
One fact of life for God’s children is that we all face trials, troubles and tragedies at some point. I hope you are encouraged by the fact that God loves you so much and He is always there to listen when you pray through all of life’s tribulations. God bless you as you live a life worthy of the calling!

Maybe you want to learn about prayer for anxiety, but you don’t know how to get started. You might even feel embarrassed about it. Don’t worry, this article can help guide you on how to start praying.
When should I start?
Start now! Praying is really not as hard as many people think. You can begin a life rich in prayer at any time, and it’s never too late. Try this short prayer to start. Say out loud:
“Jesus, I trust in you.”
This little prayer is very powerful and effective. You can repeat it over and over at any time when you feel anxious or worried.
Set aside time
It’s important to set aside quality time for prayer. Many people who suffer from anxiety schedule time to see a psychologist or counselor. In the same manner, try to arrange time dedicated specifically for prayer.
Get started by setting aside 15-30 minutes for prayer once a week. It should be a time when you can be completely alone with God. Be sure to:
- Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed
- Turn off your cell phone
- Turn off all TVs and radios
- Be away from your computer/tablet or any other Internet device
If you have a Bible, have it next to you. If you don’t have a Bible, get one.
What should I say?
There are many ways to pray, but the most important thing is that it comes from your heart. You can begin simply by talking out loud to God. He hears you! Go ahead and tell him all your thoughts and worries. Don’t worry about order or formalities, just let it all out. If you have trouble getting started you can try phrases like:
- Dear Lord, I need you to hear me…
- Loving Father, I need your help with my worries…
- Jesus, please help me with…
If you feel like you have nothing to say, don’t get discouraged. In these moments of silence, Jesus often speaks to your heart. Listen to him. You can also try prayers like:
- Jesus, please free me from…
- Sweet Lord, please heal me of…
Do I have to kneel when I pray?
Kneeling to pray is a gesture of humility, but it’s not required. You can try sitting in a comfortable position if you like. It’s better not to lay in bed when you first start praying since you might fall asleep. No matter what position your body is in though, God hears you.
Why the Bible?
God’s Word is life itself. In the Holy Scriptures we find all of God’s wisdom. Try to get used to reading the Bible before, during or after your prayer. Your understanding will grow as you read his Word.
The Psalms are a great place to start. These “songs” to God are in fact prayers. The Psalms can help guide your prayer, and you’ll be amazed at how you identify with what you read.
Will prayer really help me with my anxiety?
Absolutely! Medical science has proven that prayerful people are healthier and happier. However, the benefits of prayer extend far beyond what medical studies can show.
Remember, Jesus Christ paid a great price for all of us. This means that you can be in God’s presence with confidence. It doesn’t depend on being perfect or good. It depends on you knowing that you are forgiven and loved.
Try to build up gradually but steadily to spending time in prayer every day. Even on days you don’t feel like it, make the effort. Every time you seek God’s presence, his blessings and peace appear – guaranteed.

Is stress holding you hostage and keeping you from rest? Do you feel burdens pressing in that seem too heavy to bear? When anxious thoughts pull you in the wrong direction, and you’re struggling to find balance, the following prayer might express your thoughts and help you find relief and freedom.
Before praying, consider these 4 steps for praying over anxiety, as suggested by well-known author and speaker Max Lucado:
- Pray immediately.
“Don’t stew over the problems that are besetting you or your neighbor. Ask God for help as soon as you identify a need.”
- Pray specifically.
“When we boil our concerns down to a specific request, they become right-sized. Vague threats loom larger than concrete challenges.”
- Pray for and with others.
“When we consider the problems of others and enlist their help with ours, our concerns become more manageable.”
- Pray with thanksgiving.
“Anxiety and gratitude cannot occupy the same space. When we catalog what are thankful for, our list of challenges grows less powerful.”
A Prayer for Relief of Stress and Anxiety
Lord Jesus, the stresses in my life often reach a dangerous proportion—or so it seems. My body, mind, and spirit struggle to keep up physically, mentally, and yes, spiritually. Some days anxiety stalks me like a deceitful predator, and the temptation to worry draws me in. I know better, but some days the challenges outweigh the truths buried inside. My trust in You fades into the background, giving fear and concerns permission to discourage me.
In those moments of apprehension, help me remember that I belong to You, and that You are not the author of fear or anxiety, but the giver of love and a sound mind. Teach me Your ways to respond to problems by giving thanks in them. Your Word assures me that You are always there with me. You are the Blessed Controller of all things, and nothing escapes Your attention in my life. You have given me every tool and spiritual blessing to fight against those things that try to steal my peace. You’ve promised that when I’m stressed and burdens are trying to weigh me down, I can come to You. You will give me sweet rest!
Whether the anxiety stems from work, parenting, finances, physical issues, or even world conditions, You are there, Lord, to shoulder the weight. Teach me to recognize the stressful trials as tools for you to shape me and rearrange me. Through those difficult times, You will teach me patience, enlarge my faith, and help me see things I couldn’t see earlier—if I will only let You. When I’m clueless as to what to do, Lord, I want to turn to you first, not last.
Forgive me for trying to handle things on my own, Lord. The need to be in control sometimes gets a stronghold on my life. That only makes things worse. I want to trust You more and see things from Your perspective, not my own. No one makes me feel uptight, angry, or stressed, and no one forces me to react negatively. I choose to respond according to my beliefs. Do I believe You are in control? Do I believe You created all things and hold all things in Your Hand? Do I believe You are truly good? When an anxious thought creeps in, help me to stop and relax, to take that thought captive, and to turn apprehension into a calm prayer for deliverance. Revamp my belief system, Lord. Show me a new way to handle life according to Your Way.
No matter what issues I am dealing with; no matter how big the problems or situations, I’m laying them all at Your feet today. Turn these potentials for stress into lessons for growth and trust. When I can’t see any possible solutions, I choose to believe that You are working things out for my good—in Your own time, as you have in the past. Show me what to do, or what not to do. As I focus on You, remembering Your promises and Your words, I believe You will fill me with a peace that is beyond all understanding.
In Your precious name,
A Short Prayer for An Anxious Heart
Dear Lord, I thank you that I can come to You always for any reason. I’m grateful that when I pray to You, You answer me. Help me to come to You at the beginning of my fears and anxieties instead of waiting until I can’t stand them anymore. The quicker I come to You the better. You want to free me from ALL my fears. Help me look to You for help more often so that I can be radiant with Your joy. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
