Mothers Day is celebarated on different days and dates around the world. Mothers Day in North America is celebrated on the second Sunday in May.
Mothers Day 2018 is Sunday, May 13.
Mothers Day (Mothering Sunday)in the United Kingdom falls on the fourth Sunday in Lent.
Mothering Sunday 2018 is Sunday, March 11.
For a simple prayer or something to write in your mom’s card this year, this seems very appropriate:-
I Said a Mother’s Prayer for You
I said a Mother’s Day prayer for you
to thank the Lord above
for blessing me with a lifetime
of your tenderhearted love.
I thanked God for the caring
you’ve shown me through the years,
for the closeness we’ve enjoyed
in time of laughter and of tears.
And so, I thank you from the heart
for all you’ve done for me
and I bless the Lord for giving me
the best mother there could be!

A Mother’s Prayer
It’s such a hectic day
with little time to stop and pray.
For life’s been anything but calm,
since You called me to be a Mom.
Running errands, matching socks,
building dreams with stacking blocks.
Cooking, cleaning, finding shoes and
other things that children lose.
Fitting lids on bottled bugs,
wiping tears and giving hugs.
A stack of last week’s mail to read,
where’s the quiet time I need?
Yet, when I steal a moment Lord,
at the sink or ironing board,
to ask the blessing of Your grace,
I see then, in my little one’s face,
that You have blessed me all the while.
And I stoop to kiss that precious smile.
A Prayer for New Mothers
God our Creator, we pray:
for new mothers, coming to terms with new responsibility;
for expectant mothers, wondering and waiting;
for those who are tired, stressed or depressed;
for those who struggle to balance the tasks of work and family;
for those who are unable to feed their children due to poverty;
for those whose children have physical, mental or emotional disabilities;
for those who have children they do not want;
for those who raise children on their own;
for those who have lost a child;
for those who care for the children of others;
for those whose children have left home;
and for those whose desire to be a mother has not been fulfilled.
Bless all mothers, that their love may be deep and tender,
and that they may lead their children to know and do what is good,
living not for themselves alone, but for God and for others.

A Mother’s Day Prayer
Heavenly Father, to you I pray…
On this day called, “Mother’s Day.”
Let all mother’s on earth give praise,
To you…for the children that you gave.
For you have blessed them from above,
with little souls to nourish and love.
Let them mold each one with care…
And teach them to be kind and share.
Forgiveness is the special key…
Start early on, to help them see.
Their fragile minds are easily impressed.
Please teach them ways, so they’ll be blessed.
Sow godly seeds into their minds.
With careful pruning, you will find…
Young adults with such strong roots,
all through life, will bear rich fruit.
And then have faith for God to show…
Them all the rest they have to know.
Remember they’re His children too.
For they were only lent to you.
A Mother’s Prayer
Hello there, Lord, it’s me again.
It always seems I call You when
I need someone to understand
That I could use a helping hand.
In answer to my fervent prayer.
You’ve placed a child in my care.
And I’ve tried hard to be prepared,
But frankly, Lord, sometimes I’m scared.
Will I be all that I should be?
And can my child depend on me
To be there when the nights are long;
To know what’s right, to know what’s wrong?
Yet as these thoughts run through my head,
I think of what my mom once said;
“Whatever challenge faces you,
Your best is all that you can do.”
Well thank you, Lord, for showing me
The wisdom of simplicity.
So I’ll just take things day by day,
And keep in touch if that’s okay.
Mother’s Day Prayer
Lord, thank you for all mothers.
For the new ones, who endure sleepless nights with infants in arms.
For the busy ones, who juggle the pressures of home and family life.
For the steadfast ones, who nurture and care for our special vulnerable children.
For the patient ones, who always seek to forgive and engage with their pre-teens.
For the persistent ones, who cleverly find new ways to connect with their mini-adults.
For the mother aunts, who step in to cradle and care for nieces and nephews.
For all grandmas, who love and support their precious grandchildren.
For the foster mums that are called to gather and cover the fragile ones.
For the Sunday mums who care for our children and lead them in faith.
For the mums who give far beyond their own resources, who overcome disability to cherish and love.
Thank you Lord for all our beautiful mothers. Help us to support them and keep them in our prayers. May you bless them now on this their special day.
Your Mother is Always with You
She’s the whisper of the leaves
as you walk down the street, she’s the
smell of certain foods you remember,
flowers you pick, the fragrance of life
itself. She’s the cool hand on your brow
when you’re not feeling well, she’s your
breath in the air on a cold winter’s day.
She is the sound of the rain that lulls
you to sleep, the colours of a rainbow,
she is Christmas morning. Your mother
lives inside your laughter. She’s the
place you came from, your first home,
and she’s the map you follow with every
step you take. She’s your first love, your
first friend, even your first enemy, but
nothing on earth can separate you. Not
time, not space… not even death.
Funny Mother’s Prayer
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my sanity to keep.
For if some peace I do not find,
I’m pretty sure I’ll lose my mind.
I pray I find a little quiet
Far away from my family’s riot.
May I lie back and not have to think
about what they’re stuffing down the sink.
Or who they’re with, or where they’re at,
or what they’re doing to the cat.
I pray for time all to myself
(did I just hear something fall off the shelf?)
A silent moment for Goodness sake
(was that the window I just heard break!)
Yes now I lay me down to sleep
I pray my wits about me keep
But as I look around I know,
I must’ve lost them long ago.
Mother’s Day Blessing & Prayer
Pastor Ed, from Salisbury Vineyard church, read the following out at our mother’s day service last year. He asked all the mums to stand – and then read this blessing-prayer out to us all.
We were all very moved by the words – I hope that this will bless you too:-
Before our God, and before one another, we want to honour you
and the work you do. For we live in a society that overlooks and
belittles your God given status. But we say that you are blessed.
For you have been called, set aside, commissioned to bear fruit –
fruit that will last.
We declare that your work is holy work. It is sacred. It is Christ-like.
For we recognise that you lay down your lives for others, that you
give without thought of cost or repayment. You serve above and
beyond what is seen or asked for. You bless and you love in ways
that words cannot capture. Your thinking is so often of others, your
time spent on others, your prayers spent on others. You are a
blessing to others. You have indeed laid down your whole lives.
This is a high calling. To nurture and shepherd God’s own children.
For this we honour you. And in this calling we bless you.
We bless you to be wise. To see what is hidden, to hear what is not
said, and to do what has been undone. To know when to speak
and when to listen.
We bless your discernment. May it be sharpened. May your
prayers be arrows in a bulls eye. May you hear the whisper of God
on behalf of His children.
We bless your words. May you speak goodness and kindness into
your children. May you strengthen, encourage and comfort with
great skill. May your children thrive in your praise and correction.
We bless your time. May God bless your sleeping and your waking.
May you have the time you need. May you have time to laugh and
time to reflect. May you have time to share deeply with dear friends,
to walk closely with your God.
We bless you to be free. Free from the expectations of others and
the eye of the world. May you be free to be yourself and free to
enjoy all that God gives you. May you be free to allow your children
the freedom to discover their call in God.
We bless the work of your hands. May you find God in the
mundane and know Him in the business. May your homes be
blessed with peace and love. May they be places of light and joy.
We bless you to be a reflection of God. To reflect to others the
meaning of love, of truth and hope, of faith and trust, and grace, of
generosity and humility. To embody these before us. May your
children see you walk the narrow way, may your investment in them
be not just for this age, but also for those to come.
We bless you: Name by name
Come Holy Spirit. See these anointed ones. We ask that you would
increase your anointing on them.
We ask that God would grant you, according to the riches of His
glory, to be strengthened with might through His spirit in your inner
woman. That Christ will dwell in your hearts through faith, that you,
being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend
together with all the saints, what is the width and length and depth
and height – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge.
That you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
We set you aside. You are a blessing to your families, and a
blessing to this church. Thank you. Well done. And may Christ be
May God bless you this mother’s day and every day.
