Give me, O Lord, I pray Thee

firm faith, unwavering hope,

Why Strength and Courage is Important?

Bible verses about strength and courage commence with the name of God and end at his laudation that is the very strength, courage and power which comes from God to his beings.

In Christianity, everyone has to surrender in front of the Almighty as his strength is the perfect proof of bravery for the whole mankind. Bible verses about bravery and courage suggest that it not our strength that is required but what God gives a man with his one pleasing will.

Strength and Courage is a Godly Characteristic

Since bravery and courage is a God’s trait. God has told the mankind to seek His guidance and His help in gaining the gift of courage and strength.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.” (Chronicles 16:9)

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God,   the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint,   and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;   they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary;   they shall walk and not faint.”(Isaiah 40:28-31)

“Fear not, for I am with you;  be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”(Isaiah 41:10)

“Seek the LORD and his strength;  seek his presence continually!” (Chronicles 16:11)

God has always helped those who helped themselves. The examples from bible verses about strength and courage show that these people entrusted in God and seek is strength and courage.

Example of David

“And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” (Samuel 30:6)

Example of Paul

“But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth”. (Timothy 4:17)

Example of Peter

“Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever.” (Peter 4:11)

Example of Abraham

“After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here am I.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.” (Genesis 22:1-3)

Christianity Teaching Strength and Courage Comes from Faith

Bible verses suggest a believer doesn’t have to fear God to achieve strength and courage through biblical message; he can attain this bravery by maintaining faith and not the fear.

“And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.” (Mark 10:52)

“ And Jesus answered them,  “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.” (Matthew 21:21)

Prayer From God to Seek Strength and Courage

A Prayer for Strength is often needed during difficult times. God is always here for us, to give us strength and lift our hearts when all seems hopeless.

Give Me Strength, Lord

Lord, you are Holy above all others, and all of the strength that I need is in your hands.

I am not asking, Lord, that you take this trial away. Instead, I simply ask that Your will be done in my life. Whatever that means, that is what I want.

But I admit that it’s hard, Lord.

Sometimes I feel like I can’t go on. The pain and the fear are too much for me, and I know that I don’t have the strength on my own to get through this.

I know that I can come to you, Jesus, and that you will hear my prayer. I know that it is not your intent to bring me to this point just to leave me in the wilderness alone.

Please, Lord, give me the strength that I need to face today. I don’t have to worry about tomorrow.

If you just give me the strength that I need today that is all I need.

Keep me from sinning during this trial. Instead, help me to keep my eyes on you. You are the Holy Lord, and all of my hope rests in you.

Thank you for hearing my prayer.
