A Baptismal Prayer
In your love you have called us to know you,
led us to trust you,
and bound our life with yours.
Surround this child with your love,
protect it from evil.
Fill it with the holy spirit and
receive it into the family of your church,
that it may walk with us in the way of Christ,
and grow in the knowledge of your love.

To be baptized in His precious name, And heed the Masters call

The Lord will always walk with you, along life’s blessed beach. His footprints there beside your own, always within reach. Two sets of footprints, side by side, from dawn to setting sun. Yet there may come a day my child, when you’ll see only one. But do not think the Lord has left you, nothing could be more wrong. It’s just that He has picked you up, to carry you along.
Angel of the Heart. You are the strength of the future and the Beauty of past Memories. You are Love and Light and Hope. You are Life’s Sweetest Giftan unbelievable and precious Miracle.
You’ve been a special blessing since the day that you arrived, Bringing so much happiness and filling hearts with pride… And now that it’s your Baptism/Christening Day, this brings a special prayer That God will always keep you in the shelter of His care.
Here is one example of a baptism being performed with the prayers recited for the baby.
Living and Loving Father,
I praise and thank You with my heart for the liberation You have given me from the clutches of sin and Satan. By Your death on the Cross of Calvary, You have put my old life with its sin and judgement to death forever, and endowed me with a new life that is abounding with joy.
Father, I commit this Baptism Day into Your most precious and loving hands. I believe that by Your crucifixion on the Cross, my old self was rendered powerless and I was freed from all sin. You were raised from the dead that I too may live a life victorious and overcoming all evil.
Father, this day, I rededicate myself to live in You and live a life for Your glory. I remember the day when I was baptized and washed off all my sins. Lord, it is Your grace that I must be counted worthy to be called Your child. Help me to keep Your commandments. Renew my strength this day that I may be strong in faith and increase in zeal. Preserve me for the glorious day of Your coming. I believe Your Word which says, “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”. Let this day be the beginning. Lead me into greater spiritual depths even in the coming days. In Jesus’ precious name I pray.
A Prayer for Baptism
By Pastor Jack Graham
“For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.” – 1 Corinthians 12:13
I heard about a church that had a very popular Vacation Bible School program every summer. One year, a little boy accepted Jesus and his teacher told him, “The next step is to go forward at church, tell the preacher you’ve been saved, and that you want to get baptized.”
So the boy came to church on Sunday. And when the service was over and the invitation was given to come forward, the boy stepped out in the aisle, walked forward, and told the pastor, “Sir, I’ve been saved, and I wanna get advertised.”
Now, while that little boy may have had a slip of the tongue, he really hit on something important. Baptism after salvation is the advertisement of your faith to the world. It doesn’t save you, but it’s a vivid and living testimony to the world of a real change that’s taken place in your life.
There are a lot of people today that say baptism isn’t necessary for salvation. And they’re right. But it really is an outward symbol of an inner reality: that you are in Christ. Don’t deny yourself the privilege of baptism. Show the world whom you follow and publicly affirm your faith by being baptized!
Heavenly Lord, as we take the step of baptism, we ask that you lead us onward into the long journey to which you have called us. Father, the step of baptism is one of the most important moments in our Christian walk. Help us to approach this act of dedication with clear minds and full hearts. Amen.
