A pregnant woman (as well as not pregnant) must pray until she’s conscious. However, Shariah is soft in relation to patients, such as pregnant women, how to pray.
If it is hard to stand, she can pray sitting and can do half-length bow and prostration while sitting, touching the ground. If she can not sit, she can pray in bed / reclining / lying on the right or left side, as it is convenient. In this position, she can do half-length bow and prostration, as we mentioned above. If she can not, she can pray lying on her back, facing the Kaaba and expanding feet to the Kaaba and commit half-length bow and prostration, as we mentioned above. If it is difficult to perform half-length bow and prostration, she can do it by moving with head, and that will be enough. If she can not move, she can imitate prayer movements with her eyes. If she can not do it, she can imagine the movement of prayer in her heart, and Allah, with His infinite mercy will accept such a prayer from this woman, as He, the Most High, said: “Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful”.
Orthodoxy in the modern world is strongeroccupies a niche of lack of spirituality and atheism. The miracles of healing with the help of prayer, icons, faith in the Lord help many believers to get rid of severe chronic diseases, pathologies, infertility. Prayer in pregnancy is a powerful remedy for the continuation of the family. The evidence of this is found in the Bible. Many women who have tried all the medical methods and lost hope for pregnancy, turn to the great saints for help to give life to one more person on Earth.

Proper planning of pregnancy
Pregnancy is a special, mysterious condition, full of mysteries and expectations. Orthodox Christians, accustomed to rely on the will of God in everything, before asking for the sacrament of conception, ask the priest for blessing. Having passed the ritual of purification through repentance, confession and communion, having received the blessing of the spiritual father, the woman becomes internally ready for motherhood. From this day on, her daily companion becomes a prayer for a happy pregnancy. Priests draw the attention of women to the fact that the help of higher forces during the conception and expectation of the baby is especially urgent and necessary for her, therefore one should diligently pray and, most importantly, sincerely believe in the power of prayerful treatment. The heavenly patrons of the woman who expects the baby are many saints and, in the first place, the Most Holy Mother of God herself.
The heavenly protection of the Most Blessed Virgin
With the onset of a desired pregnancy, the futurethe mother, as a rule, begins to experience fear – a constant companion of a woman for the next few weeks. Prayer during pregnancy consecrates the life of the mother and the future baby: a prayerful appeal to the higher powers helps in anticipation, soothes the woman and adds feelings of humility to the Creator, which is especially necessary for the pregnant woman. The main intercessor for the human race and the helper of man in grief, misfortune, companion in joy and success, the Blessed Virgin is an indispensable companion of a woman in the period of bearing new life. Prayer to the Theotokos about the preservation of pregnancy rises most often before the special way “Assistant in childbirth”. Prayer treatment is made “from the heart”, it is desirable that it was systematic, but better daily.
Prayer application for pregnancy
Not always the desired pregnancy comes on time. Some young families expect the appearance of the first child for several years, undergo special examinations and treatment in perinatal centers and clinics, but the result is not always positive. Having lost hope for medical assistance, they turn to saints, so that the prayer for the onset of the long-awaited event finally helps to accomplish the desired. Conversion in the prayers to the higher powers is quite an effective tool, because the Lord lives in every person, his soul and heart and if you believe in him in a holy way, ask for help and hope, then the efforts will not go unnoticed. Sincere prayer for the pregnancy of the Theotokos is better and cleaner than any words that are sometimes thrown out just to the wind. Prayer for children has always been considered to be the strongest and most effective, which can be said about prayers for granting the happiness of motherhood.
Images of the Blessed Virgin, who heal from infertility
Praying about the gift of a child can be practicallyto any image of the Mother of God – the female intercessor: “Assistant in childbirth”, “Merciful”. No less well-known assistant in the treatment of infertility – the icon “Mammal”. The text of the prayer, uttered before this holy face, contains the woman’s request for conception, bearing and successful delivery, as well as for the heavenly patronage of the Mother of God all this difficult period for the future mother. Many miracles of spiritual and physical healing are recorded from the icon with the 700-year history of “Mother of God Tolga”. The ancient miracle-working image is glorified by miraculous healing from the illness of the feet of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, the resurrection of the deceased child through the tearful prayers of parents, healing from insanity, oncology, infertility. Prayer during pregnancy to this image also helps a woman safely endure and produce a healthy child. The icon with its holy cover “covers” the pregnant woman according to her prayers and keeps the mother and the baby from harm and misfortune.
Help from the saints through our prayers
There are cases of miraculous healing from infertilityafter the conversion of the woman to the relics or icons of the saints, especially Xenia of St. Petersburg or Matrona of Moscow. The Matrona’s prayer for help is miraculous. Shortly before his death Matronushka said that people would continue to come to her as a living, telling about their troubles. The great holy helper promised to help all the suffering and needy. He keeps his promise to the fullest. Evidence of this occurs every day at the request of believers. Matrona Matrona as in life helped all the suffering, so continues after his death. In order to utter the words of a prayer petition, a believer does not need to go to the temple, enough to bow to the Matrona at the burning candle and icon, the blessed one will certainly answer the prayer message, crying sincerely and with all the heart.
Ask Matron about his maternal happiness …
The Matrona Prayer for Help can relate not only to getting rid of troubles, disease, misfortune, suffering. Known is the famous saint and bestowing the happiness of motherhood to many women, already desperate and tried all the medical means. There are wonderful cures for infertility after a prayer visit to the women’s Pokrovsky Monastery, where the relics of Matrona Moskovskaya rest. No less than the healings recorded after the visits of women to the cemetery, where Matron was previously buried. Written requests for an intimate desire are left right on the grave, flowers are also brought there, quantity is necessarily odd, there is also a prayer for children. Before the prayer, Saint Matronus should always ask her about forgiveness and pardon, only then ask for conception. Before a visit to the Intercession Monastery, a woman must withstand a strict fast for one week.
Sincere patronage of the bright saint
For women, to whom the Lord has already given joyconception, the purpose of visiting the Intercession Monastery is Matrona’s prayer for the preservation of pregnancy. There is an accepted order of behavior near the relics of the blessed. First and foremost, the come-in must cross himself with the sign of the cross and hang his bow. Bright mother always considered the sign of the cross as the main defense, therefore after a bow it is accepted to repeatedly cover herself with a cross and make a bow. To the feet or the hand icons are applied to the forehead, after which they are humbly removed, having previously crossed themselves. Do not forget about gratitude to my mother for help, especially for those who managed to get pregnant after a prayer request to Saint Matron: “I helped get pregnant, mother. Thank you. Forgive me and bless me! “
Great saint and wonderworker of our time
No less famous assistant of modernChristian is the miracle-worker of the Holy Hierarch Luka Krymsky. This saint of God during his lifetime worked as a doctor-surgeon, doctor of medicine, and therefore is considered especially sick and doctors. Many doctors adhere to the tradition of praying to Saint Luka before carrying out complicated operations, it is believed that he will “steer” the surgeon’s hand and the operation will be successful. To the grave of the glorified saint, doctors travel from all corners of the world and pray for healing from ailments, including problems of infertility. Luka’s prayer for pregnancy has an effective force for those who truly believe in the help and protection of Luke the Wonderworker. Young spouses can ask the great holy doctor not only children for themselves, but also grandchildren, and conjugal happiness.
“Everything is in the hands of the Lord …”
In search of the holy image and prayer helpingcontinue the race, be healed of the ailment of infertility, do not forget about the Lord himself. Some Orthodox sincerely believe that the first one to ask for such a great mercy is the Savior. It is to his icon that the desperate women bear their misfortune, their tears, their hopes, this holy image is the first prayer for the giving of conception and prayer during pregnancy, the request for getting rid of infertility and the happiness of motherhood.
As soon as I found out I was pregnant the first time, worry flooded in like crazy. Had I already eaten the wrong things? Taken the wrong medicine? My mind constantly worried. Pregnancy can be one of the best times in your life, but also some of the hardest. You may have your most worry ever during pregnancy, have your worst fears, or even your greatest anxiety. Prayer helped me combat these feelings so much during my first pregnancy, and even though I am a lot more relaxed this pregnancy, prayer has been an anchor for me as well. Here are a few things that you can pray during pregnancy:
You can pray for your baby’s health. It amazes me how much a baby grows each day. Just the human mind alone is so complex, and your baby is being perfectly knit together. You can pray and thank God for all of their little fingers and toes. You can pray for their development and that would be completely healthy.
You can thank God for the health that you have had so far. You can pray for an concerns that you have or if you are having any issues with the pregnancy. I know with my first pregnancy, I had really low progesterone, so that was a big prayer and with this new baby, I have had a lot more pregnancy symptoms like fatigue and nausea. You can pray for strength for your body to carry your sweet baby and for endurance to get through the 40 weeks.
This one is a big one for me. Kevin really helps keep me grounded on this one, but I always have a lot of prayer against worry and fear. I have done a lot better this time with not being so strict about my diet or constantly worrying about the pregnancy, but I have still had my days. Ask God for help if this is a big area for you as well. Pray for peace and knowledge.
It is never to early to pray for your baby’s heart and salvation. Pray that they would grow up to know and love God. Pray that you would be a good example for them and help guide them, but that you now ultimately, it is up to God. Pray for grace for them and for their little heart.
Pray for your baby’s future. This is a very vast topic. You can pray for the friends they will have, their future spouse, their school adventures, their joys… there are so many different areas you can pray about. You can pray that they would be kind, loving and graceful. You can pray that they would grow big and strong. Just pray for them.
Wisdom for your doctor is a great thing to pray. Pray that your doctor would be knowledgeable, prepared and the perfect doctor for you and your baby. Pray that they would be diligent in their work and successful.
This can be a big area of worry for sure. I know before my first labor and delivery, I was extremely worried about what it would be like. Thankfully, I had a great experience with Brooke and now my prayer is that this second baby would go just as smooth. Every baby is different, every labor, every delivery. I just pray for strength, wisdom for doctors, and an easy/quick delivery.
Your family plays a big role in your baby’s life. Pray that your baby would fit right in with your family. If they have siblings, pray that God would prepare them for their new role. I know that I pray for Brooke in becoming a sister. I pray that she would be caring, a good sharer and they would be best friends. I pray that she would fully feel our love for her and never doubt it for a second.
Lastly, but not least, you can pray for your parenting. I fully believe that every child is different, thus your parenting should be different at times. I don’t quite know what to expect with this second baby yet as far as parenting goes, but I do know that we are the perfect parents for this baby. God picked us. I pray that we would be observant, kind, slow to anger and loving.
I’m sure that there are things I have missed, but I hope this helps you with things you can pray during pregnancy. I would love to hear about anything else you pray for during pregnancy, just leave me a comment!
When Joe and I found out that God has blessed us with a tiny little life forming in me, we immediately started praying for that precious life. We believe passionately in the power of prayer. I want to start a little series sharing 10 prayers each day for the next four Tuesdays. At the end of the mini series, you will have 40 prayers.. enough for one prayer that you can meditate on each week of your pregnancy! I think it’s so important to start covering our baby in prayer even now while she is still in the womb. God is good!
Week One: Thanksgiving
“Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.”
Lord, I worship you. You are Creator and Sustainer. I thank you that you are our Rock and in You, we have a reason to sing. Jesus, thank you! Thank you for creating life inside of me. Thank you for your plans and your purposes that are always perfect. Lord, help me to see each life as precious, just as I already see this baby’s life as precious growing inside of me. Forgive me when I don’t see others lives as precious in Your sight and help me to encourage others to seek You for their purpose. Thank you, Jesus! Prepare our hearts for the future. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Week Two: Life
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.” Psalm 139:13-15
Lord, You are so amazing! You are the One and Only Creator and Great Artist. You form us in our mother’s womb so personally and so intricately. Thank you that right now, You are forming this baby inside of me. You are forming it’s inmost being, it’s very soul that is being made to worship You, Father. Lord, I worship You that You hold all life in Your hands. Jesus, I pray that this baby will love You and serve You, that she will know that You created her wonderfully and fearfully. Create in me a love of life, Lord, because You treasure and love all life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Week Three: Growth
“He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.” Colossians 1:17
Lord, you know all things and you hold all things. Please continue to keep this baby growing strong inside of me, Lord. Please give my body strength to provide for our unborn baby. Lord, grow in me a love just like Yours… a strong and selfless love. Jesus, You are so good to us. Please help my trust in You to grow as I travel this road of pregnancy. In Your Name, Amen.
Week Four: Sustenance
“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
Father, You are the provider of every need. You don’t have to bless us but You do because You love and delight in Your children, Your own. Lord, without You, we are nothing. Lord, without You, where does my help come from? Sustain us, Father, in need and in plenty. We rest in Your provision… provision for every need throughout this pregnancy. I trust you and I lay down my rights to try to do everything on my own. You are worthy. Amen.
Week Five: Peace
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Oh beautiful Father, You are worthy. Your Word says that Your peace has the ability to guard us. So, Jesus, I am asking that You would guard my mind and my heart as they are so prone to wandering off into fear. Lord, sometimes I fear the unknown. There are so many things I am not in control of and I NEED Your peace that surpasses all understanding to flood my mind and wash away all fear and doubt. Protect my mind during this entire pregnancy, that no matter what happens, Your Spirit of peace will protect and hover over me. Thank you Jesus that You care so much about me! In Jesus Name, Amen.
Week Six: Trust
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
Lord, You are worthy and able to be trusted. But I am sinful and prone to trust in my own understanding. It’s also easy to trust only in other people but Lord, help me to trust YOU, the Knower of all things. Jesus, when I don’t know what to feel or say or do, help me to trust You. Help me to go to You when I am feeling all things in this pregnancy. Lord, I also pray that our baby will have a heart that trusts You from an early age. Jesus, You hold their hearts in your hands… mold it and shape it to be a lover of You. We trust that You are good and You are who You say You are! In Jesus Name, Amen. Week Seven: Provision
Psalms 81:10 I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Lord, You have redeemed me and saved me from death. You provided a way to Yourself through Jesus because You love us. Lord, I pray this truth over our baby, right now. That You would always provide for him/her. That You would be her God and she would be Your redeemed, washed pure, child. I pray that one day we will be singing Your praises together forever in Your presence. I pray that no matter what happens in life, that You would provide Your Spirit and Your Word to nourish her and keep her satisfied. You alone are able, God! I pray that she would know that from a young age. Lord, You have blessed me with Your presence. Help me to live a life that share Your presence with everyone around me, including my family. In Jesus Name, Amen. Week Eight: Preparation
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9
Lord, You are high above us. Your thoughts are infinitely more wise and so much higher than ours. Nothing catches you off guard. You never have to prepare for anything because You know all and time isn’t relevant to You. Lord, give us wisdom. Give us wisdom for tomorrow. Give us wisdom and prepare our hearts for the future. You are creating another human and we have the responsibility to nurture and care for Your child so Lord, help us. Be with us every step of the way. Prepare our hearts now to be parents. Prepare my heart to be a mother. Be with us when we mess up and the nights are long and sleepless. Be with us when we are rejoicing. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Week Nine: Grace
“But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”” James 4:6
Lord, I humble myself before Your throne of grace. Lord, I confess that my heart is full of pride and sinfulness. Lord, I want to be always humble before Your throne. Father, teach me how to be more like You. As I study Your word, Jesus, help me become more humble of heart. So that I can freely accept the grace given to me by You and so that I can show grace to others, especially my family and my child. Lord, Your grace is enough. Let it be enough in my heart and teach me how to show grace every single day to those around me, especially this precious child You have given to me. Help me to see that he is a gift of grace straight from You, Lord! In Jesus Name, Amen.
Week Ten: Love
“If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:3
Jesus, You are love. You are perfect in all of Your ways. You love me so much that You are with me always. You loved this sinful world, in the middle of our sinfulness and rebellion, and You came to earth to save us. You gave Yourself away to be murdered and You died because You love us. You beat death and You rose from the grave because You love us and You provided a way to God! Thank you! Lord, I praise You! Father, You have already placed such a love within me for this child. THank you for that. Help me to remember and to live my life for one thing: to love You above all else. Help me to love you more. Father, give me the ability to love others more than I love myself. Help me to be more like Jesus was when He walked with man; He was love on display for all to see. Lord, when I don’t feel like loving others, be my strength and my portion forever. Grow in me such a love for You and I pray that our baby and future babies will never once doubt Your love for them. Help me to be a mother who knows that no matter what I do, if I have not love, I have nothing. Help me to live a life that sings Your love. In Jesus Name, Amen.
See you next Tuesday for ten more prayers to pray during your pregnancy. YOU are loved!
