The purpose of the Mens Prayer Ministry is to move us one man at a time, closer to God; to pray for forgiveness of our sins; to pray for our families; our church and its leaders; and our nation, so that we may all be reconciled to God for the healing, for the strength and for the refreshing of our hearts and our land.
What is Men’s Ministry?
In short, it is a place where men can turn to get direction and encouragement from God’s word about the many pressures facing men (us) today.
We encourage you to seek out a friendship in our faith that can help you and if need be, help carry the burden you are facing.
Lets face it guys, it is not easy being the kind of man Jesus calls us to be. And in today’s complex world we are often thought of as less then a man if we admit our failures and weaknesses to another man (we are made to feel small in the eyes of others) yet, what is more important? Losing our pride or losing our way? God forbid!
Paul told us we need to take this seriously. We should learn to carry each others burdens. Men, we must not betray another man’s confidence when he comes to you. Men, we must not condone sin, but we can truly be of assistance towards our brother.
Let Christ Love & Live, not just in us but through us!
I believe one of the biggest ministries we have as men, both married and single, is that of earning the love and respect of our wives. No more vile jokes that could hurt or undercut our most precious of relationships. She very well could be reflecting your love! Like what you see? If you do, great! I encourage you to love her even more! Maybe it is time for us to clean the mirror so we can see ourselves a little clearer. May I encourage you? Don’t take your marriage or her love for granted. It can be tough, but hang in there. God is faithful. He will get you (both) through the tough times. More later, but please remember, she is your ministry.
This is a profound mystery, but I speak of CHRIST and HIS Church.
With Deepest Love, James
On the third Saturday of every month the men at DCF meet together from 8:30am until approx. 10am for prayer, followed by breakfast in the hall.
With so much to pray for this is an important, albeit short time for the men in the church to pray together, but also a great way to start the weekend as we enjoy each others company over breakfast. Open to all the men in the church over 16 years old, we meet for prayer for around half an hour from 8:30am and then send out for hot breakfast food. Following cereal, tea and coffee, it’s normal to find the men enjoying a bacon or breakfast roll which we collect from a local butcher, and by around 9:45am we are clearing up the mess we’ve made and heading home by around 10am to enjoy the rest of our weekends.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
