Will prayer help our nation in these difficult days? Prayer that is focused on personal requests for our friends or family’s needs is powerful, but we need to remember to pray for our nation as well especially now. We need to pray for revival of this great nation including for honest leadership, marriages and
godly child rearing.
With the economics of our country struggling, wild weather catastrophes, and terrorist threats we need to pray for our nation daily! We need to pray for God’s intervention to give us peace and a powerful godly nation.
The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. Psalm 34:17
Maybe God is trying to get our attention? Including all the wars against Christianity right now, He could quite possibly be showing us that there are consequences for taking Him out of our lives. Will prayer help our nation? It is explained in these verses from the Word:
“And the answer will be, ‘Because his people abandoned the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and they worshiped other gods instead and bowed down to them. That is why he has brought all these disasters on them.’” 2 Chronicles 7:22
But I assure you of this: If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods, worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed. Deuteronomy 8:19
“But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the decrees and commands I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods, then I will uproot the people from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make it an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.
2 Chronicles 7:19-20
We must take the time to humble ourselves and to totally depend on God to help our nation.
And when they cry out, God does not answer because of their pride.
Job 35:12
Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.
Proverbs 16:18
God answers our prayers when we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness. Afterwards we need to stop repeating these same wrong doings. This is vitally important for our prayers to work!
The great thing is that when we do pray, the Lord does hear our distress and He will forgive us and restore the land. I really think that if enough people do this, He will restore our beautiful nation and we will Honor Him again as stated in the following verse!
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
If you would like to see our nation that we love retain the freedoms that we now appreciate, then I challenge you to include this need in your daily prayers. Will prayer help? Just ask God to send a beautiful awakening that will revive this great land!
