Here are Four Prayers for Healing you can use today to speak life and hope into your situation.
A Prayer for Personal Healing
God, you know me so well. You created me. You know the number of hairs on my head, and you even know the thoughts conceived in my heart before I ever vocalize them. You’ve told us to come to you and ask for every need of life. You are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals, and you have the final word on my destiny, the number of years I’ll live and serve you on earth.
I’m coming to you today as your child, longing to hear from you and asking for your divine healing. There’s so much I don’t understand about life. But I do know that with one touch, one word, you can make me whole. Please forgive me of my sins, cleanse me of my unrighteousness, and begin your healing from the inside out.
I don’t always know what your will is Lord, especially in times like now, when I desperately seek your face. I offer you no promises, no bargains, no deals to exchange for my health. I simply bow my heart before you to tell you the desire of my heart: that I want to spend as many years as I can loving you here, loving others, and wanting to become more like you. However you choose to accomplish that is up to you—and okay with me. If you use doctors to provide healing, give them wisdom to know what to do. Regardless of how you accomplish it, the healing you give is always miraculous. And you deserve all the praise.
I absolutely believe you have the power to heal. You demonstrated that on earth, and you still heal in miraculous ways today. Even when my faith is weak, you say it is enough, and my love for you is strong. And I know you already hold my heart and life in your hands. It’s up to you. If I can bring you more glory through healing, then that’s what I ask for. That’s what I desire.
But if your answer is no, or not now, I know that your grace is sufficient for me. Ultimately, I want your will to be my will. I look forward to spending an eternity with you. But Lord, if you have planned still more for me to do here on this earth, I not only need and want your physical healing, Lord, but a thorough, deep-down cleansing and strengthening—a whole-hearted renewal of all that I am. Because all that I am is yours. Use this trial to strengthen me from a “what-if” faith to a “no-matter-what” faith. And no matter what, I choose to honor you and give you glory.
In Jesus’s name, Amen.

How to Pray for Healing – Max Lucado
A Short Prayer for Healing for Friends
Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises over my friend. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of my friend. Please reach down and surround my friend with supernatural peace and strength and give her the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Protect her from Satan’s lies and discouragement and let her miraculous healing begin. Amen.
A Prayer for Healing and Grace
Dear God,
We confess our need for you today. We need your healing and your grace. We need hope restored. We need to be reminded that you work on behalf of those you love, constantly, powerfully, completely. Forgive us for trying to fix our situations all on our own. Forgive us for running all different directions and spinning our wheels to find help, when true help and healing must be found first in You. Forgive us for forgetting how much we need you, above everyone and everything else. We come to you and bring you the places we are hurting. You see where no one else is able to fully see or understand. You know the pain we’ve carried. The burdens. The cares. You know where we need to be set free. We ask for your healing and grace to cover every broken place. Every wound. Every heartache. Thank you that you are Able to do far more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for your Mighty Power that acts on behalf of your children. We reach out to you, and know that you are restoring and redeeming every place of difficulty, every battle, for your greater glory. Thank you that you will never waste our pain and suffering. We love you. We need you today.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen

A Prayer for Healing Sick Family and Friends
Lord Jesus, thank you that you love . I know that you hate what their illness is doing to them/me. I ask that you would heal this disease, that you would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness.
Your word says in Psalm 107:19-20 that when we call out to you the Eternal one you will give the order, heal and rescue us from certain death. In the Bible, I have read of miraculous healing and I believe that you still heal the same way today. I believe that there is no illness you cannot heal after all the bible tells of you raising people from the dead so I ask for your healing in this situation.
I also know from my experience of life on earth that not everyone is healed. If that happens here than keep my heart soft towards you, help me to understand your plan and help me to be excited about heaven.
God, I thank you that belongs to you and that you are in control of everything that happens from our first breath to our last sigh.
Amen.

Although scripture describes God as omnipotent and all-powerful—capable of anything—it can still be difficult to believe that prayer can result in physical healing. It’s much easier to believe that God can change our psychology, but for Him to set a broken arm or cure diabetes? That takes a different level of faith. Rest assured, though, that scripture gives ample promise that God does miraculously heal us.
We just have to know how to ask.
A more difficult aspect of this truth, however, is that sometimes our prayers for healing go unanswered, no matter how fervently and faithfully we pray. But when we come to understand why God heals, as well as why He doesn’t, we discover that even our unanswered prayers are for the best. In this knowledge we can find peace, even in the direst of circumstances.
No matter what, though, God wants to take care of His children—that includes physically healing them. Let’s take a journey into scripture so that you can learn how to pray for His miraculous healing, why God heals us, and how to handle it when He doesn’t.
Why God Heals
When Christ sent out the disciples, they went about “teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and affliction among the people,” according to Matthew 4:23. Jesus “called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.”
Healing is a testament to God’s character and power. To heal someone is an inherently loving act, and to do so miraculously shows great power, both of which are aspects of God.
Healing, then, is a way for God to reveal Himself to humankind. He does not merely heal for our convenience—for that, He has already given us the plants and the elements from which to make medicines.
God loves us, and wants our best, and He is willing to miraculously heal us when the act will bring about a greater good by showing the world who He is.
Pray the Right Way
In Luke 8: 43-46, we find a woman who touches Jesus’ clothing as he makes his way through a large group of people, and is healed. But why her? Out of all the people in that crowd, why was she, alone, healed?
Two things set her apart. The first is that she believed Christ could heal her. The second is that she not only desired healing, but acted on that desire by reaching out.
Just as this woman actively reached out in order to receiving physical healing, we must actively reach out to God through prayer. The power is there, waiting.
So, if you have the desire for healing, and you believe that God can heal you, what is the best way to pray?
Jesus gives us the perfect example in Matthew 6:9, when He recites the Lord’s Prayer. Let’s take a look at this prayer.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
Jesus didn’t give us this prayer so that we could recite it word-for-word. Rather, this is a guide on how to pray for the things we need.
It begins with praise to God, as well as the acknowledgement that we want His will to be done, not our own—a great way to begin any prayer, since God knows infinitely more about what we need than we, ourselves, do.
For healing, the most important part of this prayer is the line, “our daily bread,” which translates to asking God for the things we need. This doesn’t mean fame or riches or a superhumanly beautiful body. This part of the Lord’s Prayer reminds us to examine our motivations when we pray so that we’re not asking for a miracle out of selfishness or greed.
When we pray for miraculous healing, we need to take on a certain mindset: we must want God’s will to be done, and not ours, and we must ask in a way that is free from greed and selfishness. This is the kind of praying that God rewards, and that can transform the way we think for the better.
When God Doesn’t Heal
Even in the Bible, not everyone who desired miraculous healing received it, and we must each be prepared for this eventuality, as well.
God does want us to be happy, but because He can see all ends, He knows that not performing miracles can be just as important as performing them for us. After all, sometimes the greatest testimonies come out of our weakness.
Yet, this answer doesn’t quite satisfy in a world where thousands of innocents suffer and die each day.
Why doesn’t God heal starving children? Why doesn’t he heal the elderly? It’s difficult to simply wave all this away with a dismissive “God uses suffering to teach us.”

Healing Prayers – Can I receive healing from God?
Perhaps you are faced with a disease or terminal illness and you are looking for healing prayers. You desire to cry out to God for healing! It is usually our hopelessness that compels us to seek a supernatural source to alleviate our serious illness or disease. For most, it is a pattern of self-sufficiency, medical technology, and ultimately a cry for God to heal us miraculously.
God heals because that is His pattern for revealing His nature through His Son. With compassion, Jesus chose to touch the festering sores of the leper (Matthew 8:3). He showed mercy as He touched the crusted lids of blinded eyes (Matthew 9:29). In receiving healing from God, we must earnestly desire to touch Him as well. “People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed” (Matthew 14:35–36).
Healing Prayers – Can I receive healing from God if my faith is great enough?
Every individual has the ability, through healing prayers, to express faith — the belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. You express faith in the car manufacturer who installs your brakes, faith in the architect who designs your office building, and faith in intangibles like gravity, solar heat, or a promise. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). Biblical faith is determined by 1) reliance upon God rather than man and 2) confidence in the unseen power of God.
Exercising our faith in the area of healing may involve unconventional behavior. The Bible tells of a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years (Mark 5:25–34). She knew that her condition would cause Jesus to be unclean under Jewish law if she touched Him. Yet she reached out in faith and was healed immediately as “Jesus realized that power had gone out from him” (Mark 5:30). Genuine faith requires action. However, faith is not something we must “conjure up” enough of in hopes that God will heal us. Ultimately, it is God who chooses whether or not we will be healed.
For most people facing pain and possible death dramatically changes their lives. For some, dreams are shattered, relationships broken, and despair consumes their hearts. For others, new dreams are found, relationships strengthened, and hope takes over their hearts. A grieving and pleading father fell at the feet of Jesus. Jarius’ 12-year-old daughter had just died. Why bother Jesus now? Jesus tells the father not to be afraid . . . to just believe. With compassion, Jesus takes the dead girl by the hand and restores her to life (Mark 5:35–43). We must place our faith in the person of Jesus, the source of all hope and His promise of everlasting life. God knows best.
Healing Prayers – Can I receive healing from God every time?
The answer is definitely “Yes!” God can heal every sickness that leads to our ultimate death. But does God choose to heal us every time? No. He may heal us as a result of prayer. He may heal through simple procedures, through a surgeon’s trained hand, or He may heal us in a way that we can’t explain medically. God’s healing for each of our lives transcends our temporal perspective of pain and death. His will, or divine plan, for our lives is for this earthly tent to be exchanged for an eternal heavenly dwelling that never suffers the effects of sin’s decay (2 Corinthians 5:1–2). For children of God, there is ultimate healing for each of us.
As children of God, our healing prayer can be:
“Heavenly Father, You are intimately aware of the struggle I am experiencing — the pain and the despair. You know the desire of my heart to be healed of this illness. I ask now for Your healing touch. I know that You are able and that just like in Bible times, You can heal me. “I also understand that You will chose what is best for me. I pray that through this trial, I will draw close to You — that You will be my comfort and strength. I pray that ultimately, whatever happens, You will be glorified through me. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.”

The goal of Pray4Healing is to provide resources and teaching on Prayer. The primary teachings are directed toward healing prayer but also included are teachings to help us to listen, learn and pray the way we really feel. It is known as the power of the simple prayer.
In 2004 three medical doctors who believed and taught about the Grace of God and His healing power presented at multiple sessions to introduce “Physicians, Patients, and Prayer”. This was the foundation of the efforts for this site. Along with their teaching there is a course called ALPHA ( developed at Holy Trinity, Brompton, a Church of England parish) which can be classified as a “back to basics of Christianity”. One of the sessions is entitled “Does God Heal Today”. Thankfully the answer is YES.
Here are the links for the presentations by the three medical doctors mentioned above:
