Dear Father,
I lift up my husband and his job up to you. I ask that you be with him while he is at work, and bless his efforts. Give him strength, patience, and wisdom in the situations he faces and the tasks he completes. I pray he feels Your nearness and your peace each day.
When he feels stress or is overwhelmed with anxiousness, I pray You calm him and give him peace. When he feels like the pressure is too much, let him lean into You and find rest. I know you love him and have good things in mind for him. In spite of the difficulties he faces each day, You are there.
Thank you for the blessing of a job. Thank you for his willingness to serve You and provide for his family. Help us to be good stewards of the many blessings in our lives. Guide my husband in all decisions, and develop his skills as he continues to work hard. When he encounters failure, help him to see your grace. When he makes mistakes, draw him close with your kindness and forgiveness. He has so much to offer and has many talents, but I pray it would all be done for your Glory. Help us to look for ways to bless others with our time and resources.
I ask that you protect him from harm. Surround him, lift him up, and keep his eyes on you each day. Help him to excel and enjoy the success that comes from hard work, without overdoing things. Help him to balance his time between work, spending time with his family, and most of all seeking You. Bless the relationships he forms at his workplace, including co workers, friends, and those he interacts with regularly.
I pray his boss will appreciate his efforts. Help my husband to persevere with joy, knowing that it’s all for You. When he is tired, frustrated, and wants to give up, remind him of Your great love for him. Let my husband recall your promise to never leave him. I pray he feels your presence each day.
In your name I pray,
Amen

Today, I pray my husband will find a balance between work and leisure; that he would be neither a workaholic nor prone to laziness because both ruin a man.
for the workaholic:
“Do no overwork to be rich;
because of your own understanding,
cease!
….For riches certainly make themselves wings;
they fly away like an eagle toward heaven.
~Proverbs 23:4-5~
for the lazy:
“If a man is lazy, the rafters sag;
if his hands are idle, the house leaks.”
~Ecclesiastes 10:18~
“The sluggard’s craving will be the death of him,
because his hands refuse to work.”
~Proverbs 21:25~
A Prayer for Your Husband’s Work
Father, bless my husband’s work. Help him find the perfect balance between working too hard provide for his family, and not being disciplined enough to take on his responsibility as provider of his home. On one hand, working too hard will result in burn out and neglect of his family, while on the other hand, being lazy will result in the ruin of himself and his family. I pray you will teach him the importance of balance between work and rest. I pray he will make it his ambition to lead a quiet and simple life so that his daily work may win the respect of outsiders. May he work with his own hands so that he will not grow dependent on anybody. (1 Thess. 4:11-12)
Lord, lead him to the work You would have him do. May he bring You into every aspect of his work. Where there is anything not glorifying to You, convict him and then supply him the courage to make the necessary changes. May he commit to you whatever he does, so his plans may succeed. (Pr. 16:3) May he “be strong and courageous, and do the work.” May he not be afraid or discouraged, knowing You, the Lord God, are with him. You will not fail or forsake him. (1 Chr.28:20) May he do whatever You have him do with all his heart, as working for Yo and not for man. (Col.3:23)
Give my husband a sense of fulfillment from his work. One that can only come from being in complete submission to Your will. I know so much of who a man is, is tied up in his work. Where he is not in Your will lead Him to better. Help him to see past the dollar signs and rest secure in knowing that what You would have him do will provide over and abundantly beyond what he could ever imagine for his family. Give him peace and clear direction of Your plan for his life’s work. “Nothing is better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot.” (Ecc.3:22)
Father, I pray the people You bring into my husbands path through his work, will be of good reputation and report. Guide him away from anyone or anything that could harm his very livelihood. You guide the hearts of kings like a stream, (Pr.21:1) so I know You are capable of steering my husband away from bad business deals. May the people he works with be people of integrity, honesty and right standing with You, Father, always encouraging and strengthening my husband’s walk with You.
Help me, also, encourage my husband in whatever You would have him do, not coming in the way of Your will. Give me words that will strengthen his courage to stand for You, saying what he needs to hear when he needs to hear it and not what I think he needs to hear, when I think he needs to hear them. Help me accept his work, knowing You are in control and will not bring us to ruin. You have promised hope and a future for us and our family; to prosper us and not to harm us. (Jer.29:11) I firmly hold on to that promise. May the words I speak affirm what he has already heard from You, always encouraging, never condemning.
Lead him, guide him and direct him, then surround him, encourage him and enable him to do his life’s work humbly, willingly and thoroughly. Amen.

Prayer for my Husband’s Work/ Finances
Several years ago, I read the book Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. I really enjoyed the book, and typed up many of the prayers from the book so I could pray them over again for my husband, Joshua. This is the second in a blog series on Mondays this summer with prayers for husbands. I encourage you to print the prayers and pray them along with me for your own husband!
See first prayer here.
Prayer for His Work
Lord, I pray that You would bless the work of my husband’s hands. May his labor bring not only favor, success, and prosperity, but great fulfillment as well. If the work he is doing is not in line with Your perfect will for his life, reveal it to him. Show him what he should do differently and guide him down the right path. Give him strength, faith and a vision for the future so he can rise above any propensity for laziness. May he never run from work out of fear, selfishness, or a desire to avoid responsibility. On the other hand, help him to see that he doesn’t have to work himself to death for man’s approval, or grasp for gain beyond what is a gift from You. Give him the ability to enjoy his success without striving for more. Help him to excel, but free him from the pressure to do so.
I pray that You will be Lord over his work, and may he bring You into every aspect of it. Give him enough confidence in the gifts You’ve placed in him to be able to seek, find and do good work. Open up doors of opportunity for him that no man can close. Develop his skills so that they grow more valuable with each passing year. Show me what I can do to encourage him. I pray that his work will be established, secure, successful, satisfying, and financially rewarding. May he not be lagging in diligence, (but) fervent in spirit, serving the Lord (Romans 12:11). Let him be like a tree planted by the stream of Your living water, which brings forth fruit in due season. May he never wither under pressure, but grow strong and prosper (Psalm 1:3). Prayer for His Finances
Lord, I commit our finances to You. Be in charge of them and use them for Your purposes. May we both be good stewards of all that You give us, and walk in total agreement as to how it is to be dispersed. I pray that we will learn to live free of burdensome debt. Where we have not been wise, bring us restoration and give us guidance. Show me how I can help increase our finances and not decrease them unwisely. Help us to remember that all we have belongs to You, and to be grateful for it.
I pray that (Joshua) will find it easy to give to You and to others as you have instructed in Your word. Give him wisdom to handle money wisely. Help him make good decisions as to how he spends. Show him how to plan for the future. I pray that he will find the perfect balance between spending needlessly and being miserly. May he always be paid well for the work he does, and may his money not be stolen, lost, devoured, destroyed or wasted. Multiply it so that what he makes will go a long way. I pray that he will not be anxious about finances, but will seek Your wisdom first, knowing that as he does, we will have all we need (Luke 12:31)
